Video Transcript for Demco Trailer Brakes DM60124 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Demco trailer brake mounting flange. This brake flange mounts onto the end of a trailer axle to a provide secure attachment point for a brake assembly. This is designed for heavy duty agricultural applications. It's a sturdy steel construction. It's a weld on installation. A few measurements to go over with you real quick. There going to be four holes on this unit.

Those holes are separated on center by about 3 3/8" apart. I'll do that same measurement going this direction. It's going to measure the same, 3 3/8" apart on center. The plate dimensions measuring edge to edge. That's 4 1/2" by 4 1/2".

The thickness of this plate is 1/4", and then this hole here in the center. That gives us a diameter of 2 3/4". That's going to do it for today's look at the Demco trailer brake mounting flange.

  • Electric Drum Brake Assemblies for 3500-lb Axle with 5-on-4-1/2 Hubs
We do offer electric drum brake assemblies for 3500-lb axles that you can see on the linked page. All of these are the 10 x 2-1/4-inch size that mount to a 4-bolt brake flange like # DM60124. Be sure to select both left- and right-hand brake assemblies, such as # AKEBRK-35L-SA and # AKEBRK-35R-SA. If you also need hub/drums assemblies in the 5-on-4-1/2-inch wheel bolt pattern be sure to check your current hubs' bearings. New hubs must use the same inner and outer bearings in order to fit...

  • Parts Needed to Convert From Surge to Electric Brakes
The backing plate you are referring to is, I'm assuming, the brake mounting flange, which should be welded on. The dimensions of this are extremely important because it will determine the brake assemblies that fit. The Demco Trailer Brake Mounting Flange # DM60124 has a 2-3/4" pilot hole and has a 4 on 4-13/16" bolt pattern. This is uncommon compared to Brake Mounting Flange # 4-35 which is for 2-3/8" round axles and has 4 bolt holes which are 2-7/8" apart on center, which is what you...

  • Replacement Brake Mounting Flange for 3 Inch Diameter Mobile Home Axle Used on Trailer
Mobile home axles are meant for a one-time use, so getting replacement parts for them is typically difficult to impossible, but assuming you already have hubs compatible with the existing spindles, we have the parts you'll need. A three inch axle would typically have a 6-7K capacity and use a # 4-44-1 brake mounting flange. The compatible brake assemblies would be part # 23-105-106 which are compatible with a 12 x 2 brake hub/drum. It's recommended that you use a welder who has experience...

For 4 bolt mounting flanges, we have the following plates available: For 3-1/2 inch axles: # 4-50 For 3 inch axles: # DM52415 For 2-3/8 inch axles: # 4-35 For 2-3/4 inch axles: # DM60124 For 1-3/4 inch axles: # 4-34 Brake mount flanges will need to be welded to the end of your axle and will provide a secure mounting place for the brake assemblies. I recommend having a qualified welder perform the installation.

  • Can a Hayes 10 x 1 5/8" Braking Assembly W/ No Mounting Flange Be Converted to a Standard Flange
So the short answer is no, there is nothing you can do to your current mounting plate to make another braking assembly fit your current setup. What you have is pretty unique, and when the team and myself took a look at it we were all in agreement that the best step forward is to cut of your current flange and weld on a new one. Now this is a pretty intensive project and is going to require a special jig that is designed specifically for this, so this isn't something you're going to be...

  • Can a Brake Flange Be Added To a Trailer Axle With Idler Hubs To Add Electric Brakes
As I do not see that we currently have a trailer axle with a 93" hub face to hub face you are going to be best to have the brake flange welded in place. To ensure this is done properly you will want to find a trailer shop with a jig to ensure the brake flange is welded on in the correct position and straight on the axle to prevent misalignment on the axle. Here is a list of the different sized brake flanges you will need to select from. Brake Mounting Flange for 1-3/4" Round Axle # 4-34 Brake...
