great product

The plastic plugs don’t hold up very well in the bed of the truck to plug in the 5th wheel trailer in nothing can beat the metal ones

by:

Bought this after the cover on my plastic one broke in half so it would not hold the plug in. (It was -20° though). Solids well made piece, nothing here will break at -20°. Etrailer was the only place I could find one that is all metal. Placed the order and had it in hand in 3 days. Never let down by Etrailer.

After 1 year its holding up great. No signs of rust either, Minnesota loves salting the h*ll out of the roads in the winter. I did give the inside contacts a good coat of dielectric grease And they are looking god too. Great product.

by:

good product made of steel not plastic, made in tiawan ,better than china, would like one made in USA. maybe etrailer can find more parts made in USA i would be willing to pay more.its time to take back our country, the USA.

Thanks for the feedback, happy to hear you are pleased with your vehicle connection. If you need the trailer plug, that is available as Part # PK12702. It is linked above as a related part.

by:

like the flush mount and compact of socket, and preferred the metal case over plastic one.

by:

Going to rewire my pickup truck trailer circuit , this is last piece I needed. This is high quality plug for my r v . Thanks

by:

Easy to install and works great. Can always rely on etrailer for great parts, fast shipping, and the best price around.

Everything seems to be working well.

by:

Product is much better than the plastic version. The receptacle has a very strong spring on the lid and a hook to lock the trailer plug into it.
The plug is galvanized and not stainless how ever, so it will corrode and rust in the Wisconsin rust belt eventually. After 1 year how ever it is fine.
I bought the metal version for out custom work trucks that I build for our company. The protective lids on the plastic ones were getting broken. The metal plug is more durable and has solved that issue.

by:

Heavy duty metal not plastic

by:

Still very happy with this unit I sold that truck But remove the trailer plug from It & reinstalled it on my replacement truck & still use it,
this was worth the effort.

by:

I am very grateful to etrailer for always providing excellent service. Orders are received in a timely and accurate fashion. The quality of their products is superb. All items ordered function as described with no malfunctions. The trailer and vehicle wiring connectors I have ordered were a great replacement for old existing equipment that was constantly failing.
Very professional company. Very high quality products. I look forward to continued business with them.

by:

High quality that should last a long time! My only complaint was that the pin that orients the inner part was hard to get in place.

by:

Good quality, excellent product.
The
only thing they missed IMHO is to put a rubber gasket to the cap.

by:

JENA D i've used these plug ins for my shear that attaches to my skid loader. Were in the iron and steel business, my wife irons and i steel. I've used these plug ins for about 19 years now and have had real good luck with them.YOU got the order right and they arrived on time who do i talk to about getting YOU a raise. Thanks again Donnie

by:

Very heavy duty connector, metal body, brass terminals, metal locking pin. We use them for construction work all day long. They will take the abuse the workers put them through.

by:

After being unhappy with plastic connectors I picked one of these up and it seems to fix all my problems with covers breaking off.

by:

Everything arrived as expected and all fit perfectly!! This is not my first purchase from etrailer, and as before, shipping was timely and all components were as they advertised them to be. I will not hesitate to order again when I need something they offer.

by:

Good quality product. MUCH BETTER THAN THE BLACK PLASTIC VERSION of this item.
I mounted this under the back bumper of my SUV so that it is inconspicuous from view.

by:

Works great, Very easy to install. The rubber plug in the back is the only difficult part to deal with. I Place a dab of silicone around it to make a better water proof fit.

by:

great product super durable can't go by the colors on the back of the connector though

by:

Great product that is still in great shape despite riding underneath my off road vehicle on some seriously tough trails throughout the 4 Corners.

by:

Great RV receptacle. I prefer metal housings like this as opposed to plastics that can break at low temps. They shipped promptly as promised. Thanks eTrailer!

by:

Used in mixed fleet applications. Reliable quality with easy installation. Metal construction seems to provide more service life.

by:

This looks pretty good, again I haven't had a chance to install it yet, but I'm sure it'll work fine. Maybe I'll report back once I have it installed and working.

Worked perfectly! The one on our 23 year old rig was looking a bit worn so it made sense to replace it as this was our first attempt at towing. Again, good quality and so far its still working!

by:

As advertised and great customer service. Highly recommended. A++++

  • Troubleshooting Running Lights Not Working on Trailer with Running Lights Turned to Auto on Vehicle
The problems you are describing sound like a classic ground issue on the trailer. A weak ground connection somewhere isn't allowing for enough power to travel to the trailer lights when you also have the running lights on in the vehicle and it's also relying on a ground connection with the trailer ball, which shouldn't be the case. What I recommend doing is checking the main harness ground on the trailer to make sure it's securely connected to a clean, bare metal surface that's free of...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Running Lights Not Functioning
Sounds like the running light circuit on the trailer is damaged to some extent. First thing I'd check for is corrosion on the running light pin of your 7-way which is the pin in the 1:00 position as you face the trailer connector. Corrosion here or the pin being bent will prevent the circuit from activating. If that's not the problem you'll want to trace the circuit back to the light assemblies and see if there's any cut or exposed wire and fix as needed. If the problem was ground related...

  • Troubleshooting Left Side Trailer Running Lights Not Working
If just the left side trailer running lights aren't working then the issue is almost certainly on the trailer side, as the running light circuit isn't side-specific on the tow vehicle end (if one side is working on the trailer you know you're getting appropriate power from the tow vehicle). So you can start at the trailer side connector and just visually inspect it for any corrosion or debris that might be built up inside the pins, cleaning out if needed. It could be something as simple...

  • Trailer Brake Controller Installation on a 2015 GMC Acadia
The vehicle is indeed pre-wired, as you suspected. To get completely set up, you'll need a brake controller, the appropriate wiring harness to connect the controller to the vehicle and a trailer connector for the rear of the vehicle. All the rest of the wiring is ran, but you'll need some fuses and relays to activate the tow package wiring. For a brake controller, you can't go wrong with the Tekonsha P3, part # 90195. The P3 is one of the most user-friendly brake controllers available....

  • Travel Trailer Battery Charging from the Tow Vehicle 7-Way
When your trailer is connected to a 7-way like the Pollak Metal 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Socket - Vehicle End # PK12703 the pin at the 1 o'clock position is the 12V power that will charge your trailer battery when it is connected to the corresponding pin on your trailer side connector. This will give your trailer battery a slight maintenance charge that is about 2-4 amps depending on what your alternator can put out that isn't being used by your tow vehicle. This will be like a trickle...

There would not be any additional fuses for the brake lights and turn signals for the trailer wiring on your 2006 GMC Sierra. There may be relays related to the tow package that could be bad if the fuses were blown. I would check your owners manual or your fuse boxes to look for any relays related to the tow package and replace them as well. • How Do Trailers Maintain Ground Connection from Tow Vehicle
A trailer will use the vehicle's ground on the 7-way (or 4-pole), usually carried on the white wire, for its lights, brakes, etc. As you look at the vehicle 7-way socket (please see the linked photo) the ground is usually carried on the pin at the 7-o-clock position. It should not be necessary to make any ground connection to the hitch itself. In actual use the coupler/hitch ball connection does provide a degree of grounding for the trailer, but this will not be enough for all of the lights,...

I unfortunately have no knowledge of wire colors used by Winnebago. We typically recommend that folks wire by function, rather than wire color because wire colors are not always consistent. If so, I would recommend installing the controller, and have a helper pulse the manual braking switch on your brake controller....

  • Why Would 7-Way Trailer Wiring Have Purple or Yellow Wire for Center Pin
There are two different ways that 7-ways get wired based on the color of the wires. (The function is the same). One of the differences is the reverse light circuit color which can be yellow or purple. Since you have yellow instead of purple it would run to the center. You have the RV standard style of connector like in the middle of the diagram I attached.
