Video Transcript for Brophy Wiring - Trailer Connectors - R7CB Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're taking a look at the Brophy Replacement 7-pole Trailer Connector Socket for the Vehicle End. This is used, typically, for commercial trucks and trailers. It does come with brass contact points for better conductivity. And, as you can see, it's a seven round pin connector. The housing is a durable ABS plastic construction that's black in color. And it does feature the nice frame loaded lid, which keeps the contacts protected when nothings connected.

The connections on the back are easy to make with the included screws and color coded indicators. So, you don't actually see the color. But on each terminal or connection point, it says what color wire gets connected there. So, right here, it says 4 red, 5 green, 6 brown, 7 white . or 1 white, 2 black, 3 yellow, and then you got the 7 blue right here in the center. Loosen up the screws.

Place the wire in. Tighten the screw down. And really, that's all there is to it. It's a really nice design. Very easy to use.

Very easy to get everything connected, as it should be. And you have pre drill mount holes right here. These are elongated. These mount holes are separated on center by three inches. Mounting hardware not included.

That's gonna do it for today's look at the Brophy Replacement 7-pol Trailer Connector Socket for the Vehicle End.

The Tail Light Converter # 118158 will allow you to split the taillights from the 2 wires coming from your vehicle to the 3 wire system that the trailer uses. To make the trailer connection you will need the Hopkins Endurance Quick-Fix Replacement 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector # HM48190 to replace your existing trailer connector. You will be able to wire in the tail light convertor into the connection along with the wiring from the trailer to make all the circuits work. Green- Right...

  • How to Waterproof Your Connectors
While we do not have a housing kit to weatherproof the CR Brophy Replacement 7-Pole, Trailer Connector Socket, R7CB, we do have something to keep all of that moisture out of your connectors. It's our Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors, part # 11755. This grease doesn't wash away while it combats corrosion. As a dielectric grease, it's not a conductor, which keeps your connections safe from interfering with each other. I've linked to a video review of this grease for you to look at.

  • How to Troubleshoot a Trailer Connector Without Power
If the trailer connector at the rear of your 1998 Ford F-150 is not receiving power, you will first want to check inside the connector for any dirt or debris. If the wires have come loose or the pins inside the connector are corroded, you can replace it using part # HM48190 for 4-way connectors or...

  • Comparing the Wesbar LED and Incandescent Agriculture Trailer Light Kits
The price difference between The Wesbar LED Light kit # 54003-041 and the Wesbar Incandescent Light Kit # W002676 is due to the cost of producing LED lights versus incandescent light bulbs. LED light are quite a bit more expensive to make than incandescent lights. That being said, LED lights will last longer and use less power than their incandescent counter parts, so I do suggest going with the LED option. It should be noted that both the LED # 54003-041 and Incandescent # W002676 will...

  • Will Brophy 7-Way Truck Bed Socket Fit with Lance Camper Connector
The kind folks over at Lance in their infinite wisdom decided to equip their in-bed truck campers with 7-Way connectors that don't match anything else on the market so your CR Brophy Replacement 7-Pole, Trailer Connector Socket # R7CB won't work with the current connector on your Lance camper. With that being said, we always recommend replacing the end of the Lance 7-Way connector with a standard connector like the Pollak # PK12706 so the camper is then compatible with the vast majority...
