How To Wire A 7-Pole, RV Blade-Style Trailer Socket For Powering Accessory

Question:

I have a 12v DC fuel transfer pump we use to fill our tractor with diesel. Its currently wired to a 7 blade trailer plug for power. Id like to add a female connector to the tractor so we dont have to bring the truck over to fill it. How should I wire that up?

What I think you are saying is that you have a 7 blade trailer plug on your truck that has a battery hot lead connected and you power a 12VDC transfer pump with this connection. What you are wanting to do, is to add the same to the tractor so you have option to power that pump from this vehicle as well. My suggestion is to use the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV Blade-Style Trailer Socket - Vehicle End, # PK12-707E or, the metal housing option of, # PK12703. To wire, please note the linked product review video for a visual and the attached help article. The black lead should be the hot lead and the white for ground. I suggest using at least a 12 gauge wire. If your purpose is only to supply a power port for your transfer pump the remaining terminals are not needed as they are all for indicator lights and reverse lights.
