Recommended Trailer Wiring and Brake Controller for 2004 Chevy 2500

Question:

Hello I just bought a 2004 Chevy 2500hd Duramax and i was wanting to add a trailer brake controller, a 4 way trailer plug and a 7 way trailer plug in the bed for a gooseneck trailer. I was wondering what all I would need to make this happen? Right now it has a factory 7 way plug for the reciever hitch.

It sounds like you are wanting to add a 4-way to your factory 7-way on your 2004 Silverado. There are a couple of options to do that. You can choose from the following based on your preferences in appearance:

7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket # HM40975
Reese Multi-Plug Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way and 4-Way # 74682
Replacement Custom Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connectors # 30955
Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way and 4-way # C55774

You can alternatively add just the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # C55384 or the 5-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56584 to give you a 4-way and 5-way option while keeping the factory 7-way as is.

For your Gooseneck trailer wiring harness, I recommend the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Wiring Harness 7-Pole # C56000.

Finally, I recommend the Prodigy P3 # 90195 for your trailer brake controller and use custom wiring harness # 3015-P for your installation. I've attached a video of the installation to assist.
