7-Pole Rubber Socket Boot - PK11761

Average Customer Rating:  4.7 out of 5 stars   (90 Customer Reviews)

I have not had a chance to mount this yet, but it appears well made and should serve the purpose well of keeping the back of the 2-pole connector I purchased protected from dirt and water. I may need to use a little sealant around where the wires go though since I will need to run two wires though the opening, which means that there will likely be some gaps. Still though, once installed, this should serve the purpose well.

So far, it appears to be working well and is protecting the wiring side of the socket. It was not the easiest thing to install, but it has not come off and has not cracked or split.

Looked all over town for a protective cover for my electrical connector on our new travel trailer no luck went on line and bingo found what I was looking for...Thanks

by:

It fit perfect and works great.

by:

The rubber seal boots PK11761 which I ordered from etrailer.com were exactly as described and made by the original USA manufacturer. The product was very competitively priced especially for an oem product and shipping was super fast. I am always looking for upper end USA products and etrailer.com is a great source. This was my first order and there will be more. I was very pleased with the product and service. Thank you, Richard F Bluffton, Indiana

Great as always

by:

This is a great add-on for keeping road contaminants out of the connector. I received mine today and the quality feels great. Have not installed, yet.

by:

I bought it for a purpose for which it was not designed (protective boot/dust cover for seven wire trailer end connector). I closed the hole with a tire patch and used a spring hose clamp to secure it to the connector..

Deborah and Etrailer and Pollak, you owe me a patent. Bring this product to life.

Beyond all expectations!!!!

Looked forever to find this item. Was not even sure it was made. I use it on my Electrical connector while stored during the winter months. Need to be marketed more aggressively .... Great item, and great protection from the elements during storage ... Necessary item for any Travel Trailer in storage... Much better than a plastic bag sealed w/duc tape.... The Loctite Electrical Connection Dieletric Grease solved my intermittent tail lite problem... Used on the connector of my 7-Pole and coupled with the Socket Boot they work properly... Recommend both...

by:

worthless for keeping moisture out of your 7 way plug. Does not fit tightly over the plug, and has a 1/2 in hole in the other end. Somone used to sell a great watertight vinyl plug cover but a can't find it anywhere.

This is not a cover for your 7-Pole plug. It is designed to go inside either the Pollak PK11720 or PK11851 sockets to help the door seal when not in use.

by:

They fit well on correct plug but might install a hose clamp on mouth to make sure it stays in place.

by:

I got exactly what I expected. Great customer service & follow through.

It has held-up under a variety of environmental conditions & continues to serve me well.

I was looking for a FME cover for my 7-Way Connector on my trailer. I order this thinking that it would do the job. Unfortunately this item is for protecting the 7-Way connector on the tow vehicle. From the picture I did not realize that there was a hole in the connector to facilitate feeding the wire from the tow vehicle through it. Had I read the write up a little better this would not have been a problem. I was able to put a plug in the hole with a little RV Sealant and everything works great. Overall product works as advertise.

by:

I use this as a cap for my trailer harness pigtail to keep it dry and spider nest free when not in use. I stuffed a plastic bag into the wire feed end to close it off.

by:

For me, and probably you, etrailer.com is a great place to shop/buy quality products. They give great follow up after ordering and fast shipping @ a fair price. I believe their service & pricing is unbeatable. I do shop for bargains & etrailer is @ the top of my list.

by:

An excellent product to protect my trailer pig tails from harsh weather. For those who leave their trailers parked outdoors I recommend this item to protect from rust.

by:

I ordered this boot to fit over the back of the 7 pole socket (PK11720). It fits just like it should. The smaller hole is just the right size for fitting the wiring through, not too big or too small. I am glad that I found this here.

by:

Fit the socket perfect keeping water and dust out. if you make a tight connections and use dielectric grease, this boot complete a good job.

by:

I found this product quickly after finding other products that are related. This was in the same package as the other products I bought, so you are not waiting for multiple boxes or parts. Also, with this product came instructions and guides that show you how to use the product in relation with other products. When they came in the box they fit like they were suppose to.

by:

This will this will weatherproof my plug and prevent other things from getting into it. Cheap protection for electrical plug.

by:

Nice cover is just as it looks and fits snug onto trailer plug I would buy again
Also purchased socket for truck looks good also would buy agian.

by:

PERFECT TRANSACTION. GREAT PRODUCT< FAST SERVICE !!

by:

order came within a reasonable time given the current virus situation. product is in good condition and is as described. I would buy from etrailer again.

by:

Exactly as described on website

by:

Ordered the wrong part, so never used this part.

by:

The harness plug arrived on the day listed, and works well. Very thankful for ETRAILER's premier customer service.

by:

This item was just what I needed, and thanks for the super fast shipping, you are always great to deal with for my trailer needs

  • Are there Round or Blade Pins in the 4-Way to 7-Way Trailer Connector Adapter # 37185
The 4-Pole to 7 and 4-Pole adapter # 37185 uses blade style pins. I have included a picture for you to view. If you need to install a 7-Way round pin vehicle side connector you can use # PK11720. You will need to hardwire the wires to the back. You will also need rubber boot # PK11761 and mounting bracket # PK11771. Or you could install the 37185 and use an adapter to go from the 7-Way blade to a 7-Way round pin, # 47595.

  • Will the 7-Pole Rubber Socket Boot Fit on the Heavy-Duty, 7-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket
Yes, the 7-Pole Rubber Socket Boot, # PK11761, works with 3 of the Pollak heavy duty wiring sockets that we carry. You can use it with part # PK11720 that you mentioned and it can also be used with part # PK12801 and # PK11851. The hole in the back of the boot is just under 7/16 inch and measures .425 with a dial caliper. I produced a short video showing how the boot fits on each item for you.

  • How to Make a 5-Way Round Pin to 7-Way Round Pin Trailer Connector Adapter
A 5-Way Round to 7-Way Round trailer adapter is not available, but I can tell you how to make one and what you will need. If the 5-Way round is on the vehicle, you will need the following: 5-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Connector, # PK11501 7-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket, # PK11720 7-Pole Rubber Socket Boot, # PK11761 Jacketed 6 Wire - per foot, # DW04906-1 (get 2 feet worth) Start by testing the functions of the 5-Way with a circuit tester, # PTW2993 if needed. Once you know...

  • Adapting a 7 Round Pin on a Trailer to a 7 Way RV Plug
Though replacing the plug on your trailer with something like the Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Connector with Molded Cable - Trailer End - 8' Long - RV Standard # H20046 will be my recommendation, if you wanted to keep your current 7 Pin on the trailer, the following can be used to adapt it. The Hopkins # H20046 will still be used, but it would be wired into the Pollak Bracket for Single-Pole Trailer Wiring Socket # PK11720. The 7-Pole Rubber Socket Boot # PK11761 would then keep the connections...

  • Adding a 7-Way Round Pin Trailer Connector to a 2010 Ford Expedition with a Factory 4-Way Flat
Vehicles manufactured now-a-days are fitted with the blade style 7-Way so that is what most manufacturers make to fit vehicles either as replacements or aftermarket add-ons. To add a 7-Way round pin to your 2010 Ford Expedition you will need # PK11720, boot # PK11761, and mounting bracket # PK11771. What you can do is use # 37185 and replace the 7-Way blade with the 7-Way round but cutting the wires and reattaching them to the 7-Way round. But the easiest thing to do is go ahead and install...

  • Inside Dimensions of Larger Open End of # PK11761 and # PK11762
The # PK11761 measures 1- 7/8 inch inside diameter at the larger open end, the # PK11762 measures 7/8 of an inch inside diameter at the larger open end. You can see these dimensions in the photo I produced for you.

  • What are the Screws Made Of in Pollak Heavy-Duty, 7-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket # PK11720
I pulled a Pollak Heavy-Duty, 7-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket, # PK11720, from the warehouse and examined the screws. They are regular steel screws. If you wanted stainless steel for the best corrosion resistance, you can replace these screws with stainless ones from a hardware store. Taking measures to prevent corrosion will also help. Using the rubber boot, # PK11761, will help keep moisture from the contacts.

  • Protecting a Trailer 7-Way Connector While Trailer is in Storage
Covers for 7-Way trailer connectors are very uncommon and the only ones we have are attached to powered jacks. An inexpensive solution would be to use a small battery box such as # TK2051 and slightly modify it so you can put the 7-Way in it. I also recommend adding some dielectric grease, # LT37534, to repel moisture.

  • Recommended Heavy Duty 7-Pole Round Trailer Socket
The Pollak Heavy-Duty, 7-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket - Vehicle End # PK11720 is the only of those two models we carry so I can't really compare them for you. Pollak's website only has the single model as well. You will also want the 7-Pole Rubber Socket Boot # PK11761 to cover the rear assembly and protect it from dirt and moisture. Using dielectric grease # 11755 will also keep moisture and dirt out of the connections and assist with the electrical connections.

  • How to Add a 7-Way Round Pin Trailer Connector to a 2011 Chevy Silverado with 7-Way Blade Connector
Your 2011 Chevy Silverado has what is called a multitow trailer connector with a 4-Way flat and 7-Way blade style trailer connector. In order to convert the 7-Way portion to a 7-Way Round pin, all you will need is an adapter. We have one that would be perfect for you. Take a look at the Hopkins Adapter 7 Way Blade to 7 Way Round Pin, # 47595. All you will need to do is plug in the 7-Way blade end into your truck 7-Way. Then plug the trailer into the 7-Way round receptacle. This would be...
