Picked up my teardrop in ABQ on 2/17/23, and the Curt ball mount lined up perfectly with no drop/rise, and the extra length gave clearance for my rear door mounted spare tire. This mount is a beast, and the "overbuilt" nature of it gave me confidence that my Bronco would tow the teardrop easily. I also got the Curt Echo wireless brake controller, which synced easily to my phone and was easy to install, set up, and use. Overall a great towing experience, thanks to etrailer and Curt!

by:

Very versatile - can use it on both my vehicles that have very different hitch height. Clean welds, super solid. Weighs a LOT!

by:

Works great used for 3 different trailer we have handy it's heavy well made.

by:

Fits our VW Touareg perfectly and allows us to tow a variety of things now. As can be seen in the pictures the hitch has a +5-inch gap between the bumper and the vertical adjustment pillar and the trailer itself is out further so there's enough room to get to the rear hatch and maneuver the vehicle/trailer.

A year later and I love this setup! Pulls our flatbed cargo trailer 1-7/8 and our 1976 Apache pop-up trailer 2, each of which are at different heights, too.

by:

I needed a hitch that I could haul my work trailer with and still drop the tailgate without dropping the trailer. I looked on etrailer and found one that would work barely but decided to call etrailer and see if anyone had any ideas. Steve answered and looked after I told him my requirements and came up with this. This has a longer distance from ball to pin by a few inches compared to the one I found so my tailgate will still drop even if I’m at an angle to my trailer or on a hill. Also with the adjustable height it’s great. Awesome hitch. Solid for a good price. ??

by:

Hitch is a solid unit. I bought this to accommodate my 10,000lb hitch. Adjusts easily to get the right ride height. No issues with the hitch at all.

The hitch is still working great. Allows me to tow my 30ft Regal boat and Continental trailer with no issues.

Coming in at about 45 pounds, the D900 Curt Multi-Ball Adjustable Ball Mount is a BEAST!
I purchased for use with my '08 Expedition towing either a small utility trailer w/ 1 7/8" ball or my DooLittle Bullitt cargo trailer w/ 2" ball.
I needed 5 inches of drop (at least) for both.
This is just about the only economical mount in which to accomplish this. Most if not all two ball mounts are 2" and 2 5/16" balls.
Many reviews comment on the length that this mount sticks out and initially that was a concern of mine.
Please see the Q&A of the D900 product page to address those issues.
Short story: A hollow/tubular extension shank of (about or greater)15" reduces vehicle hitch capacity by 50%.
The D900 shank and other components are SOLID steel. No reduced capacity.
Specifically in my case; this extra length will allow me some personal maneuvering room when hooked up to the DooLittle and raising the lift gate of my Expedition.
Clearance between raised lift gate and cargo trailer was about two inches using my old shank, and I should about double that.
The anti-rattle tightening bolt is a nice touch.
This is my first Etrailer purchase, but not my last.

by:

Quaility is top notch, price is great, can't beat it. It's perfect if you need a little more distance from your hitch and your bumper. I did not get a extended A frame on my trailer and with this hitch it works great. I'm pulling a 24ft cargo trailer 10k rating.
I added 4 locking pins so I don't have to worry about anything missing.

by:

I have nothing but good things to say about this hitch all the way around. It's been a year and I have had zero problems. Easy on line ordering, fast shipping and arrival, good quality. Will never buy my trailering needs anywhere else.

by:

Got to tow a boat trailer that sits 6" below the hitch when level. Probably overkill to use a 45 lb hitch for primarily a 2k lb boat, but I'm sure it will outlast both the trailer and truck.
As far as the 'protective coating' I don't care much if it's not pretty, and for a solid 2" piece if metal, a lil rust is the least of my concerns.

by:

Works great! No more having to remember the right ball for the job

Matthew

11/25/2023

Always have what you need for the job, the adjustments make it easy to fit any trailer to the truck. Product is heavy and a little cumbersome to remove if you have to but if you keep it in and use it often it’s great.

by:

This is a very impressive hitch and everyone asks me where I got it. Perfect for my dump-run trailer. Super heavy duty and thanks to the length it gives me even more turning radius with my trailer than I've ever had. This is actually the longest one I could find that still has the high weight hauling specifications I needed.

by:

This is by far the best hitch I’ve bought and will be ordering another. Very versatile

by:

I like it because it has the 3 most common ball sizes in one. This way you don't need multiple ball mounts, just select the correct size and go. It is solid steel which makes it a little heavy but that makes it stand up to anything you want to tow. Overall I'm very satisfied.

Robert

Excellent

by:

I was searching for an adjustable height hitch and a co-worker told me about this hitch. I love the ease of changing heights (just a couple of pins). One draw back is the length it adds behind the truck. The safety chains and 4-prong wire harness on my snowmobile trailer aren't long enough. No worries though, will just get those items extended and will be good to go. I recommend this hitch to anyone looking for adjust-ability.

Thank you for the follow-up. I actually sold my truck and only used it one time. It now just sits in a box. That said, its nice to have just in case I need it...as Im sure Ill have another tall truck :

by:

This heavy for a man with disabilities, however, with help from my wife, I get it attached to the truck. So far it has worked excellently. I have several trailers with different ball socket sizes. To date, I have no trouble changing to the different balls as needed and my trailers track well and my truck has no difficulty towing.

Guy

This hitch is still giving excellent service.

by:

Excellent for many towing jobs but yet it is heavy to carry and connect. I try to plan my time as efficiently as possible and this helps with that. No matter what you are hooking to if it uses a ball you probably have it covered this way. Built in drop is bonus

Year later still working out great. Multiple balls make towing different things a breeze.

This is Very heavy,to take in and out as 1 piece . Also it long away from truck i had to install a jumper wires for the trailers plug ,this unit has A LOT of movement [up and down ] which i hate

Kenneth, Thank you for your review. This Curt adjustable ball mount measures 15-1/4 from the center of pin hole to center of ball. If you are looking for an adjustable ball mount that is lighter weight and has less length I would recommend part # FA42-00-2600. This fast way aluminum adjustable ball mount weighs half of the weight of the curt ball mount and features two ball sizes 2 and 2-5/16. It also measures 8 1/2 from center of hitch pin hole to center of ball so it will not stick as far out from your truck.

by:

Etrailer shipped the product on time and sent notifications at every step of the delivery prosses. I really couldn't ask more from this product it is very heavy duty given that its solid rather than hollow like most hitches and extremely versatile. I can tow any size trailer and either drop/raise the ball mount as needed. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the length. The hitch sticks out far enough from the receiver that standard length chains on trailers will not reach to hook up but that can be solved with some safety chain extensions. The up side to the extra length of the hitch is that you can make deeper turns while backing before contact with a trailer. Overall I would recommend this product to anyone who tows multiple sizes and styles of trailers or very heavy loads.

by:

Good: This thing is built for war! It weighs about a ton... There is good adjust-ability.

Considerations: It is several inches longer than most hitch ball mounts. This results in significantly increased stress and effective weight on the hitch receiver. When towing with a 1/2 ton truck this was especially apparent. Additionally, due to the length you will want to also purchase a set of chains and a 4 pin trailer light extension wire. For every smaller trailer I have towed the chains become too short and the trailer wire is too short. You also may want a wrench on hand to tension the mount for adjustment. Is the bolt is loose the assembly makes a racket on every bump and turn.

I wouldn't buy this for a 1/2 ton, but it works fine on a full ton truck, if you have extra wiring and chains.

by:

The hitch is Very Well Built and a useful product. I use it with my 2020 Subaru Ascent and a small work trailer.
My only warning is that user should be aware of the Weight and Heft of the hitch. It can be ungainly to mount and manipulate for Older Folks so I would suggest having a second person to help.
Great Product! Thank You for offering it.

Sincerely a Happy Hitch Owner !

by:

Curt makes a very good product, only complaint is that if you purchase this product you must also purchase 2 anti wobble locks. As for the hitch ball mount it sticks out a little bit more then a standard ball mount, but it give you the extra length to swing a trailer in tighter spots. Also great for extended past the rear bumper slide in truck campers, so you can tow a boat/trailer etc. Heavy Duty product. Thanks etrailer

by:

I've had this for one year now. I like the length of it because I can drop my tailgate open without hitting the tongue jack. It also aids in backing the trailer with a large turning radius truck. It does make some noise when starting and stopping due to multiple joints. But is not a problem. The adjustability can't be beat for height and both sides. The heaviest load I towed was a large skid steer on a flatbed trailer. No problem.

by:

I ordered the D900 after purchasing a new truck that is to high for my enclosed equipment trailer (6x12) and dump trailer (6x10) to use a standard drop down hitch. The D900 drops down approximately 5 1/2" and solved this problem for me. It also is capable of rising as well which helps out some on steep inclines (driveways). It installs easily and the tri-ball for me was mandatory as both my trailers use different ball sizes. It was put into use immediately and has performed well to date. This hitch is very well made and appears to be quite durable. I also like how it extends my trailers out slightly farther than my previous set up which has allowed me a tighter radius when backing into tight spots.

  • Distance From Hitch Pin Hole To Gusset on Curt D900
The distance from the hitch pin hole to where the gusset meets the shank on the Curt # D900 is 4-1/4". Whether or not this will work will depend on how far down your hitch hangs. The greatest amount of clearance from the hitch pin hole is 7" in the rise position. I have attached a picture showing these measurements as well as others for your reference.
