Longer Adjustable Ball Mount Recommendation for Better Jack/Tailgate Clearance

Question:

A few days ago I purchased a hitch extender RM-071-1075 from you guys. It has been shipped and on its way. Problem is, after watching the video that was attached to the invoice, I found its not to be used for towing a trailer. What would you recommend instead as I will be needing to return the one already purchased? I do construction cleanup. My truck pulls a dump trailer on a daily basis. My heaviest load averages about 6,000 lbs not including the trailer. I currently use a BandW Tow and Stow adjustable ball mount. However, when hitched, the trailer is just too close to my truck. Which makes the trailer jack get in the way of opening the tailgate and damaging the tailgate itself. I thought with the weight rating on the hitch extender with the solid shank, it would be perfect for my needs. Any suggestions?

The issue with hitch extenders is that they end up cutting the capacity of the hitch they are installed in by 50 percent due to the extra length and movement in the hitch.

So with that in mind there isn't a hitch extender we can offer that will give you the length you need and not cause issues with weight capacity. Plus none of them have the weight capacity you need either.

Best option is a longer adjustable ball mount to get you the length you need like with the Curt Multi Ball Mount part # D900 which is 15-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch balls.

Check out the review video I attached for more info as well.
