Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires
Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.
- If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
- If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
- If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
- If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Boat and trailer I bought had 14" tires on it and made loading and unloading the trailer a big pain, so after doing some research I decided to go with these tires. It brought the trailer down 5" lower than before. trailer works better now, and tires do their job.

I recently purchased 2 Kenda 5.70x8 trailer tire with wheel packages. I am reviving a pop-up camper for a friend, and the old tires were flat and dry rotted. The new tires arrived in a very reasonable time, and the finish on the wheels was well protected with cardboard. The quality was good and they fit perfectly. I was initially looking in local marine and trailer stores, and either they had to be ordered or the price was high. I remembered previous orders I placed with etrailer and decided to check. I found what I needed, and the price and service was better at etrailer. For my next order I won't bother to go anywhere else.

It shipped and I received it a day before I expected! I unboxed the product, took off my dry rotted tires and rims, checked my hubs and bearings and put my new tires and rims on. THEY FIT PERFECT. I had them for a year so far and no issues. Still look like new. I've used them on two long road trips with a large utility ATV on my small trailer.

The reason you have heat buildup in tires is not just because of the size, it will also be from overloading, damage to the tires and age. So to just change size first might not solve the problem.
