Video Transcript for Americana Tire Inflation and Repair - Valve Stems - AM20903 Review

Today we're going to review part number AM20903. This is the rubber snap-in valve stem with the maximum pressure of eighty PSI and the effective length of one and a quarter inches long. These tubeless rubber snap-in valves stems are designed for passenger car, light duty trailer, and light truck wheels. These valves will allow a cold air tire inflation pressure on the tire of a maximum of sixty-five PSI. These are typically used in steel wheels. These snap-in valve stems have a rubber snap-in base with the plastic cap that goes over the valve.

The effective length on the valve stem is always measured once it's installed in the wheel, so basically where it comes through the wheel to the very top of the cap. On this one the effective length, if we measure, it's going to be right at one and a quarter inches. That should do it for the review on part number AM20903, the rubber snap-in valve stem with the maximum eighty PSI rating and the inch and a quarter inch effective length. .

I called to ask about aluminum vs galvanized rims and all the pieces & parts i'd need to make up a complete set for my boat trailer. With help from Samantha G. (G= great) I decided on the AM20534 with valve stems from etrailer.com.

Samantha G. gave me a delivery date, they arrived on-time, and I'm very happy with my choice. Thank you Samantha G. I appreciate your assistance.

I put new tires on my trailer wheels so I also replaced the valve stems. These ones I like because they are easy to push through from the inside. A little soap and water makes that easier.

very good tire for small garden trailer that I sometimes load over tire weight limit. Had trouble mounting tire on rim and took them to Discount Tire who mounted tires in about 5 minutes and didn’t charge me .

Perfect for the car hauler trailer

Valve stems were ordered at the same time that I ordered new wheels. Wanted stems to be able to support 75 pounds of pressure if needed and these are rated for that .

Great produce. Great price. Easy to install.
My family has a shared trailer, a small tilt trailer used to transport lawn care equipment. Using the trailer for the first time this year I was reminded, again, when everybody ownes it, nobody ownes it. The valve stem failed which jeopardized a lawn care commitment I'd made to a widow from church. Worse yet, staying well in these viral times meant I couldn't simple have the stem replaced at my local service station.
eTrailer.com to the rescue! Having the parts in stock that I needed, at a great price, with next day delivery made everything work. The tire stem and bearings (another casualty of shared possession) arrived when promised and were quality products. Replacement was easy and, voila, I was able to cut Mrs. Margaret's grass as promised without coming in contact with anyone.
Thanks, etrailer.com!

stem a little short

by:

Worked great in my 13" trailer wheel. To install, insert in hole from the inside, turn your valve tool around, screw it onto the stem, grasp tool with pliers or channel lock, pull/wiggle until it seats in the hole. Done. A little tire change lubricant doesn't hurt.

by:

My items arrived sooner than anticipated and in excellent condition. All items were as described and more than met my expectations. The new wheels and tires went right on the trailer without a hitch! Thank you etrailer.

by:

Very good quality. Used on new bassboat trailer wheels (also purchased at etrailer).
etrailer is a good web provider. Excellent customer service.
Fast order processing and shipping. Good pricing.
I will use their site in the future and suggest that you give them the chance to provide the same service that I received.

Kudos etrailer!

I completed work on a ball discharge system for Boy Scouts in which I used this stem (minus the valve) to connect to a CO2 bicycle inflater. This allowed me to slide the bottom of the stem over the muzzle loading nipple to discharge a stuck ball.

It's very inexpensive and effective.

A pressurized portable air tank with a tire hose line fitted with a control valve will do the same thing.

Perfect replacement for my Wells Cargo with Dexter axles. A bit of a delay in shipping due to the pandemic, but I can’t fault etrailer. They honored free shipping offered at the time and expedited shipping once it was available.

  • Upgrading 205/75-15 Tires on 2007 Rockwood Ultralight Travel Trailer
I do have a solution for you, however, upgrading to larger tires isn't an option. We recommend at least 3-4 inches of clearance between the top of the tire and the fenders and at least 1-2 inches between the side wall and inside of the wheel well. This is necessary to allow for proper suspension articulation, especially when driving on a bumpy road or going over a pot hole. With this in mind, I do not recommend putting larger tires on your travel trailer, but instead using one with a higher...

The psi rating will be determined by either the tire or the valve stem of the wheels. If you upgrade your tires you can upgrade the valve stems to meet the necessary psi. I spoke with our resident tire and wheel expert and he said as long as the tire is appropriately sized for a 15x5 inch wheel such as # AM20428 then you can put a tire rated for 65 psi on it. Make sure the valve stem is also rated high enough. The 15 inch tire size that will fit a 15x5 inch wheel is 205/75-15. And for a load range D in that size we have # AM10245. And for a valve stem rated up to 65 psi we have # AM20903 or for more of a buffer you could use # AM20904 rated up to 80 psi.

  • Should 205/75-15 Bias Trailer Tires be Replaced With Radial Trailer Tires for Highway Driving
I highly recommend switching from bias trailer tires to radial trailer tires for highway travel. The reason for that is radial trailer tires are designed for use on normal paved roads and highways because they flex more and run cooler than bias tires. The cords on a radial tire run at a 90 degree angle straight across the tire while the cords on a bias tire run at a 32 degree angle. That leads to the better flexing, traction and ground contact with a radial tire. A bias tire is best for...

  • Should ST205/75-14 Trailer Tires be Inflated to the Maximum PSI
You will want to inflate your new tires to 65 psi if that is the rating that is on the tire sidewall. Trailer tires are built with a thick sidewall to handle vertical load. If under inflated a trailer tire will generate excessive heat and lead to failure. The only thing to look at is the valve stem. If the valve stem is not rated for 65 psi then it could leak air. We have 2 valve stems rated up to 65 psi; # AM20903 fits a 0.453 inch diameter hole and # AM20905 fits a 0.625 inch diameter...
