Recommended 8" 5 Lug Wheel and Tire Combination For 200lb Trailer

Question:

I have a very small trailer I pull behind my slingshot. Its very light weight maybe 200lb. I would like to add wider tires for appearance and especially to stabilize it better. Can you suggest a 5 bolt 8in tire and maybe a shock absorber to smooth out the trailer for highway driving. Thank you

I would be happy to make a recommendation for you.

I recommend taking a look at the Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range B # AM30100 which is 5.8" wide and has the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern which is likely what your trailer has, but you can confirm this by measuring the bolt pattern on your current wheels following the included diagram.

With out knowing the size of your current tires I cannot confirm if this will fit, but it measures in at an overall height of 18.1" and width of 5.8". Ideally you will want 3-4" from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender, and 1-2" from the inside edge of the tire to the frame of the trailer for adequate clearance. If you can tell me what your current tire size is I would be happy to confirm if this will work as a wider replacement.

All of the shock kits and suspension enhancement options are for trailers weighing over 3000lbs and will not do much to smooth out the ride of your trailer being it is only 200lbs, but if you can tell me the diameter of your axle I would be happy to see what options are available.

I included a video of the # AM30100 for you to take a look at.
