My 6' x 10' landscape trailer was a homemade by a prior owner. While it was mostly constructed very well, the spring hangers were not correct. The spacing for the springs was also wrong, and it had very little fender clearance. There was also evidence that the spring U-bolts had contacted the frame on occasion. (I do not carry loads anywhere near the 3500# axle rating.)

I added an extra set of holes on the front hangers in case the ride height proved to be too much, but I like the way it sits with the stock holes. I don't think I'll be utilizing the extra holes.

This kit was just the ticket to increase the suspension travel and fender clearance on my landscape trailer. Now it "sits right"!

I recently carried over a ton of rip-rap with my trailer. The trailer still had plenty of of axle and fender clearance. This kit has proved to be just the remedy for my landscape trailer.

I am sorry but I can not remember names but I talked with two very helpful ladies and could not have been happier with their assistance. Thanks again, the trailer build is going great.

by:

Used this kit to get rid of the annoying slip springs on my Harbor Freight trailer. Everything fit nicely and the trailer is makes much less noise. I re-made the base-plate these weld onto with some Angle iron I picked up at Home Depot. (See enclosed pictures) All-in-all I am happy with this suspension kit and would recommend if you are doing a similar project.

Just starting the manufacture of an item I finally finished design/layout. Industrial Designer for 20 years before teaching. Anyway, starting to assemble parts to begin cutting/welding/etc and some of the things you just have to touch and feel before you really know how they will work.

Purchased some spring seats, hanger kits, and U-bolt kits. Parts look fine and should work just as well. Thanks etrailer.

by:

Good quality generic hanger kit. No real complaints.

by:

Produce great. Shipped same day as ordered. Received 5 days later 1/2 way across USA. But if it has been shipped just UPS I would have received it 2 days faster, instead of UPS SUREPOST that always takes 1 to 2 days extra to transfer?

Still in service and performing great. Just ordered another shackle rebuild parts for a larger trailer. Good Co.

by:

Person was very knowledgably about what I needed and listened very well. So it surprised me when I received two hanger kits when she should have known by the order that I only needed one.

by:

Springs and hanger kit worked really well on home made camper, also the 10ply 12" tires purchased were also a good choice.will try to send a picture latter,my son will have to that for me,we thank you, good quality products at a fair price

by:

Very happy with my purchase

by:

I purchased APS5 leaf spring mounts and spring shackle kit. The quality and finish appear to be very good. Use will be on a small home built trailer should workout great. Saves a lot of time for me to do other things . Glad I found this website. Thank You

Great kit. I have bought multiple of these kits and happy with the quality and overall kit

by:

Perfect. All the parts were in the box and exactly what I needed.. The measurements were right on. My only down was the back order. They let me make the order then a few days later told me they didn't have it so they had to wait for it. Then they said once they get it I could pay extra shipping to get it here faster.. That was wrong on there part. After I explained how wrong they did pay for the ground from ups then to ship it faster once they got the parts in. They were great in helping me when I did call.

by:

Excellent product at a fair price. Well made. Welded them on my 30 year old trailer I am rebuilding. They were easy to put on and the suspension was nice and tight when I was done.

by:

Easy to order and the product is perfect. I would have given five stars but I never received any shipping notification or tracking number. I usually get an email with a tracking number anytime I order online.

by:

perfect for mounting the springs in the correct location as the used trailer I bought the springs were to far forward

by:

Very easy to weld to the frame. After a year they are still holding the springs without a problem.

by:

Thank You, for processing my order so quickly. Your follow up on orders is a great help and it gives the person that is ordering a contact in case anything goes wrong.

by:

Got the order super fast and just like described will buy another set for another trailer

by:

Fair prices, quality product and fast shipping with tracking!

by:

everything looks good ,have not put it together yet,but with previous experience with etrailer im sure it will go together fine.

  • Comparing Different Hanger Kits ffor Single Axle Trailer with Double Eye Leaf Spring
Hi Barney! Any of the single axle kits you listed will work just fine for your single axle trailer. The main differences between the kits you listed is their height and how they install so I'll list out the differences below and you can decide from there which option is best for your trailer. - 1-1/2" Front, 7/8" Rear (4-1/4" or 4-1/2" clearance between trailer frame and axle) - Kit # APS1 - 1-1/2" Front, 1-1/4" Rear (4" or 4-1/2" clearance between trailer frame and axle) - Kit #...

  • What Leaf Springs Will My 2004 Shorelandr SLR20L For A 2004 Lund Alaska Need
I was able to do some research and your leaf springs measure 21" from center to center. The replacement springs you will need are the Dexter Axle Double Eye Leaf Spring for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles - 21" Long, part # 072-017-00 These springs are rated at 2,000 lbs. Even though you will only get three leaf springs, the weight capacity is more that enough for your boat trailer. • Leaf Spring Hanger Options for 8x8 Tilt-Bed Trailer
For the springs, I'd recommend the # e84SR spring, which is designed for 2K axles and measures 20-3/8 inches from eye center to eye center. If you need a U-bolt kit for this axle, # APUBR-10 will work well. The hanger kit you use will depend on how much space you want between the axle and the trailer frame. Hanger kit # APS1 provides between 4-1/4 to 4-1/2 inches of clearance. # APS3 would give between 4 and 4-1/2 inches of clearance. # APS4 is 5 to 5-1/2 inches and # APS5 is between...

  • How to Determine the Correct Weight Distribution System
I'll start with your last question concerning the trailer brakes - they will not stop your truck. As for a weight distribution system it is important that you have the correctly rated system; I don't what you have but I can tell you how to figure out what you SHOULD have. In order to choose the right weight distribution system you will first need to know your total tongue weight (TTW), which is the tongue weight of your fully loaded and ready to go trailer plus the weight of any cargo...

  • Are Bushings for Trailer Suspension Spring Hangers Required
Bushings do not always have to be used. Springs typically have bushings or they will use wet bolts depending on which part of the suspension system it is but not always. The bushings limit the wear on the suspension components. There are just different designs. Kits # APS2 and # APS5 use the same 7/8 inch hangers and it is those hangers that come with the bushings. I have included a link to our help article on double-eye trailer suspension for you.

  • Axle And Suspension Recommendation For Utility Trailer
I think the easiest way to get the parts you need for your trailer is to buy an axle kit that comes with the idler hubs, bearings, races, seals, grease caps, wheel studs, and lug nuts. For the weight you are saying you will be carrying I recommend starting with the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Idler Hubs, part # 20545I-EZ-72-15. • How to Prevent Trailer Sway on a 26 ft 2011 Starcraft Autumn Ridge Towed by a 2011 F-150 Ecoboost
Many times adjusting the way that the trailer is loaded can help minimize trailer sway. Try loading the trailer so that more weight is toward the front of the trailer, and see if this helps. Too much weight in the back of the trailer and a light tongue weight will cause the trailer to sway. You will also want to make sure that your trailer is as close to level as possible. If your trailer is loaded properly and you are towing it level, then I would recommend is adding a weight distribution...

  • Distance Between Hangers for the # APS5 kit When Used with Leaf Spring # SP-212275
Your logic about the shackle leaning the correct direction is spot-on, but the thing about leaf springs is that they flatten out when weight is put on them. So although the # e54SR you referenced is 25-1/4 inches long when uncompressed it should flatten out once installed and the weight of the trailer is on it so that the angle of the shackle strap will be correct. The best way to use the dimensions recommended for spring hanger kits is to use them as a guide. When everything is assembled...

  • How Far Apart Should Hangers Be on My Custom Built Trailer With 27" Leaf Springs?
Generally speaking you want the distance between your hangers to be about 1/2" shorter than your leaf springs, since your shackle straps will allow for some movement on the springs. The hanger kit you want to use depends on how much clearance you need for your axle. A good kit that will give you about 4-1/2" of clearance from the center of your axle to the bottom of the trailer frame is the # APS5 . First let's start with the axle. For a 3,500 lb axle we offer the part # 35545I-EZ-89. This comes with idler hubs with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. From hub face to face this axle measures 89 inches and between the two spring seats measures 74 inches. Your trailer will have to be compatible with both dimensions. There isn't a specific torque spec for shackle bolts like what come with the hanger kit part # APS5 you referenced. They need to be secure enough but if they are too tight then the leaf springs will bind and cause problems in your trailer's suspension. The lock nuts included with the kit will ensure the bolts do not fall out. I recommend tightening the nuts until they makes contact with the shackle strap and then add another 1/4 turn. This should give you the right amount of torque needed...

If a trailer is swaying exclusively at certain speeds, rather than in response to passing traffic or gusts of wind, three possible culprits come immediately to mind. First would be the loading of the trailer. If the trailer has insufficient tongue weight (not enough weight at the front of the trailer) sway can be caused. Try loading the trailer so that more of the weight is forward of the trailer axle. Secondly, a bent axle can cause the sway you are experiencing. This might not be very...
