Are Bushings for Trailer Suspension Spring Hangers Required
Question:
I noticed that the APS1 and I believe the APS4 and 5 rear hanger has a bushing installed, but the APS2 doesnt. I am trying to keep the height of my trailer as low as possible, so the shorter shackles included in the APS2 will work better for me. Are the bushings installed to increase the strength of the hanger? Are they necessary? Why are the installed on some hangers and not others?

Bushings do not always have to be used. Springs typically have bushings or they will use wet bolts depending on which part of the suspension system it is but not always. The bushings limit the wear on the suspension components. There are just different designs. Kits # APS2 and # APS5 use the same 7/8 inch hangers and it is those hangers that come with the bushings.
