Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I took on a project to revive an older double jet ski trailer. The Wheels, hubs and springs all needed replacing
Searching online etrailer.com had all the parts I needed to rebuild the hubs and install new wheels. These parts are good quality and perform well. I will be returning to purchase from etailer.com again.

etrailer is awesome. Good pricing and excellent customer service. I received the wrong bearings, called customer service and the correct bearing were expedited that day. Can't ask for more than that.

All is well. No problems so far.

The tire, hubs and envelopes of bearings where in a large box together with a little paper stuffing. The hubs moved around and damaged 2 of the bearing roller rings. Very disappointing! Other than that Im pleased with the products.

I was contacted and send the replacement bearings. I will continue to purchase from etrailer. Thank you!

by:

Replaced a year ago, no problems at all still going strong. Will get these for my other trailer soon.

by:

Bought a trailer for my fishing kayak and unfortunately, the tires (and hubs) that came with it were not rated to highway use. I had a trip coming up that was several hundred miles of highway away. Ordered these hubs and they came very quickly, went on as easy as the old ones came off. I’ve pulled the trailer for around 2000 miles and everything is tight with no play. Very happy.

by:

It fit perfect and is like new again. My old ones were pretty rusty and the bearing were destroyed from previous owner. Just need to get marine bearing grease, new cotter pin and washer.

by:

These were purchased for my utility trailer and will only experience water during a rain. Being galvanized will certainly help with rust prevention and I went one step farther by cleaning with acetone and spraying with a good silver paint. The kit wa complete and I hand packed the bearings with Amsoil synthetic grease for less maintenance and longer bearing life. I did not use the Chinese bearing that come with it and purchased Timken bearings. In my opinion the Timken products are superior and can be trusted. They look great, fit properly, no issues, doubt I will ever have to replace again in the future.

by:

Great quality. Great replacement for cracked hub on my trailer.

by:

I ordered the wrong hubs at first because I made a poor assumption about my spindles. I was able to get good information both from their FAQs and from a customer service rep. I took their suggestion on the correct sized hubs and the new ones arrived a few days later. The bearings fit perfectly. Sold the wrong hubs on craigslist super fast because it would have cost too much to send them back. Thanks again for the support and accurate information!

I drove the trailer from RI to Maine and back last year and the hubs were great! Cant wait for this upcoming season.

Ordered new axel and hubs to replace my bent axel on older utility trailer. Instructions for ordering the correct parts was clear and easy. It was shipped the same day as ordered. Arrived in record time in great condition. Good quality. Perfect fit.

Worked well. Have put on many miles without problems.

by:

Been in use for a year and work perfect ly.

by:

I bought a small trailer and made the mistake of not thoroughly inspecting and greasing the hubs before using it. A couple weeks later, a hub completely failed on the highway, and the internal bearings had been ground into powder. I limped home and promptly replaced both hubs with these from etrailer. The video and instructions made installation much easier, and I had both done in a couple hours (I'm not a mechanic). I upgraded the supplied outer cap with the corresponding Bearing Buddy, and this is a HUGE, very worthwhile upgrade. Etrailer should link the two together as a package! I now easily check and fill the grease every time I use it, and the hubs have been excellent. They were a great value and overall great product, and a year after purchase, they are running strong! Highly recommend.

by:

Needed bearings for a boat trailer. For just a little more than the cost of getting bearings locally I got all new bearings and upgraded to galvanized hubs...which is a big plus for a trailer consistently backed into the water. A year later they look like new after washed.

by:

This is a great quality product. Prior to installation I didn't have to use wheel chocks because of gritty bearings. After installation my bearings were nicely greased making the trailer roll easy. Plus the support provided by the technical staff and the website made specification and installation very easy. Sandy J went out of her way to answer all my questions and ensure I had the best product for my application.

by:

Always great to order parts from etrailer, the staff knows what they are doing, and the parts arrived so fast. Pricing is fair, thank you for the good service.

by:

Everything works great, good quality parts, even great customer service when I received a couple bad bearings due to ups not being careful they where on it and got replacements no problem. Recommend these hubs and business for all trailer needs

by:

The hub, bearing and seal assembly appear to be good quality. I had a very difficult time installing the bearing buddy assembly to the hub requiring file fitting to make it work. I had to use a larger hammer than usual to drive them in.

by:

Finished the trailer and drove from Chicago to North Carolina with a loaded trailer and no problems.

by:

Excellent product. Great customer service. I needed two additional bearings and e-trailer staff was prompt in shipping the item. I am a repeat customer and will continue to buy frome-trailer.

by:

Good information and selection, very fair pricing, excellent assistance, prompt shipping. Far easier and better than driving to town and chasing down parts.

by:

YOUR SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT YOUR PRODUCTS FIT AND PERFORMED WELL .AND AT HALF THE PRICE THAT I NORMALLY PAY. NOT TO MENTIONSPEAKING WITH A REAL PERSON WHO ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS AND HELPED TO RECOMEND THE PARTS NEEDED TO FIT MY NEEDS . YOUR MY PARTS SOURCE IN THE FUTURE. THANKS!

Not pretty, but good enough.

They will get the job done. They are on a light duty trailer for kayaks. I wanted to use 12 inch aluminum wheels on the hubs and found that the wheels would not fit the hubs with the center caps in the wheels. The wheels fit fine without the center caps and they look good enough for me. so no problem. FYI only.

  • Replacement 4-1/4 Long Idler Hub with 1 Bearings and 1.5 Grease Seal
We do have a replacement for you with the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-440-2-G-2K. This uses inner and outer bearing # L44649 which has a 1.063" inner diameter and then a grease seal with a 1.50" inner diameter like you mentioned. From the 4 bolts in the background I'm guessing you have a 4 on 4" bolt pattern just like this hub has. The only difference is that it looks like you put bolts through your hub each time whereas this idler hub already has bolts installed. This means that...

It is designed for 2,000 lb axles with BTR spindles, has a 4 on 4" bolt pattern and accommodates wheels that are 8" to 12".
