E-Z Lube and Easy Grease-Compatible Hub for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube or etrailer Easy Grease axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Bought the 'Easy Grease trailer idler hubs' to put on a log splitter; previous set up had the wheel bearing as part of the rim requiring full disassembly if there was any problem with the tire. New hubs went on with zero issues - etrailer made it easy to find the correct size bearings to complete the build.
Bearings/hubs/tires work great! Have had it for a year now, taken it on the highway, in the field - no issues at all. If I do have any tire issues it will be much easier to pull the rim and fix, vice messing with a greasy bearing.

Product is great. The problem is the shipping of these items your company is either putting to many in a box which is weak and 2 of the boxes blew apart by the time they got to us here in New Ringgold, PA. So either less in a box or double up the box.

by:

The rep. I worked with, Sheryl H, was very helpful, and I received the products a day before I expected them. She gets a 5/5.
As far as the products go, one of the hubs looked a little dirty, and I wondered if it was used or returned previously.
More importantly, one of the bearings had a dent on the outer metal ring. Not sure if I can even use that one without having some future problem. I uploaded a photo.

by:

Comparatively priced! Heavy axle hubs exactly as ordered. They were for a special homemade application for which I needed to machine them. I was happy to find the cast iron had an even consistency and also found they were hardened where needed. Here they are buried in the front end of this homemade mini-loader. They're hard to see,but were a great fit delivered in a timely fashion.

by:

Probably the best service experience I have ever had. From the beginning phone call when was an American speaking clearly and had knowledge of the product and did great follow up and arrived right on schedule and the constant updates of delivery were awesome. Keep up the great work. Oh, also the parts fit perfectly the first time, I was actually surprised and very very pleased. THANK YOU. DO NOT HESITATE FOR ONE MOMENT TO BUY FROM THESE FOLKS.

by:

I havenā€™t installed the hubs yet but the products look good! The first shipment was lost but Carol sent out the second sooner than I expected. Good job Thanks

by:

Hub and all parts were there as described on the add accept the seal had been damaged in shipping. Upon delivery etrailer Was already asking me if the order was ok . So then I returned email to them with a photo of the damaged seal and they promptly popped one out to me in the post and in just a couple of days the hub was together and ready for use . Great customer service and products.

by:

The easy grease feature is a non worker. You can put in grease but it will just stay there. It will not re-grease the bearings. Nothing to push the grease. Kind of misleading the product.

This hub comes with an EZ lube dust cap and is meant to be used with an EZ spindle that would have a grease zerk fitting on the end of it to add grease to. Does your hub have an EZ spindle? If not, then you would want to use a standard grease cap part # RG04-020. Or you also use Bearing Buddies like part # BB1980A that would have a grease zerk fitting built into it. Both of these would have an outer diameter of 1.98 inches to match the hub bore.

by:

Good replacement for my utility trailer. Bolted right up. Good value.

by:

Fit perfect

by:

I bought these for my boat trailer where one of it's hubs had a seized bearing. The ordering the etrailer folks helped me to get what I needed and when one of the hub caps came dented out of the box they sent me another one. I only used the trailer once since then but smooth sailing.

by:

Installing was easy!

by:

etrailer made researching and ordering the correct hubs easily. One stop shop. I am glad I found a complete kit that included the bearings and seals, and having the races already seated inside each hub was a big help.

by:

No issues at all, fitment was spot on and theyā€™ve held up.

by:

Repaired a trailer that had not moved for >12 years. Parts are high quality and fit perfectly. Very happy with the purchase and performance.

by:

Was as said fit perfectly ordering the other side next week

by:

Great service and product! Items shipped next day and the order tracking is way better than most trailer part sites. Items packed well in box is a big plus as receiving damaged parts can kill a weekend project plans. I will order all my related parts from etrailer.

by:

Everything has held up fine over the past year. Had a 1,200 mile and 400 mile round trips and at least 20 short hails to the local ramp.

I am a returning customer who looks for quality products at a good value, and eTrailer does it again. And I paid for three day shipping, and my order was here by noon on the second day. Good folks, and a good business to work with.

  • Correct Replacement Idler Hub for Trailer with L44643 Bearings and 4 Bolt Pattern
The correct idler hub assembly you're looking for is the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K. This is a complete unit with bearings, races, and seals. They are made of steel with a galvanized finish. I am not aware of any such aluminum idler hub.

  • How To Find Correct Replacement Hubs/Bearings for EZ Loader EZLBW90B Trailer
I don't have a way to look up exact parts for a specific trailer but based on some research online it looks like the trailer might have a weight carrying capacity of 2,350 lbs and in which case you likely have either a 2,000 lb or 2,200 lb axle. That said, I don't know if it uses L44643 (1") or L44649 (1.063") bearing nor do I know the lug pattern so you'll need to count the lug pattern and pull the hubs on the existing trailer to determine these last bits of info. It sounds like you might be looking for the # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K which uses a grease seal with a 1.249" ID. However, you will want to confirm that the bearings match as well. The AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K uses the inner and outer bearing # L44643 which is a 1" inner diameter bearing. As long as those also match, this will be the correct hub you're looking for and is compatible with EZ lube axles like yours. The # AKIHUB-545-2-G-2K uses # L44649 bearings with an inner diameter of 1.063" and also has a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. Since you need # L44643 bearings with an ID of 1" and a 4 on 4 bolt pattern the correct part would be the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 4 on 4 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K. If you have an easy grease/EZ Lube axle then you would need the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2K Axles - 4 on 4 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K instead.

Where are you measuring the 3-3/4 inches from? Just the portion that is 1 inch? With or without the threads? If the measurement of the spindle where it's 1 inch in diameter is 3-3/4 inches without the threads being factored in yes, the hub part # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K would fit on it. If the 3-3/4 inch measured includes more of the spindle than that then you'd have a stub style spindle which we won't have anything for since it's much shorter in length than standard spindles.

Both options you mentioned will work and are acceptable. You can either repack and inspect them manually or add a bearing buddy like # BB1980A-SS to the # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K. The bearing buddies have a blue indicator ring that sits flush with the top of the cylinder when full so you just need to monitor that to keep them properly greased.

  • Does Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Have Grease Zerk On Hub
The Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2K Axles # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K does not have a grease zerk on the hub itself. This is designed to work with Easy Grease or E-Z Lube axles which have a grease zerk on the end of the spindle. You can add a grease zerk to the hub if you would like but we do not recommend it. Doing so would void the warranty and may compromise the structural integrity of the hub.
