Haven't used it yet. I bought it because of CURT's quality. It was beat up in shipping though.

Its doing the JOB.

by:

Exactly what I needed to extend the reach of the ball beyond my rear tire carrier WITHOUT losing any tongue weight capacity! I used mine for the 2" rise.

by:

Not usually a fan of any extra length between the truck and trailer, I opted for this extended ball mount so I could drop the tailgate without hitting the trailer jack. This did the trick. But this not a mount you should leave on your truck after detaching the trailer! Ouch!

by:

Exactly what I needed to move trailer away from spare tire

by:

Measured the drop to keep the trailer horizontal, and length for tailgate clearance. This hitch works great!

by:

Each item was as described and installation a snap. Light are at least twice as bright as originals. The right-angle wiring pigtail made the project much easier.

Really appreciate the extensive information on each product and the follow up is a nice touch.

by:

It's perfect for my Jeep Wrangler it gets the ball past the spare tire.

by:

Great product, they were very quick filling my order. Everyone kept me informed how the order was processing and the delivery date.

by:

Great product and excellent service with on time delivery!

by:

The ball mount is not welded square to the tube
This is the second one sent took 4 months to get a refund on the first one.
The first one lasted one long trip before bending
Quality control is lacking on this product line.

by:

Product is per specs. Attached is why I needed and how it helped me attach the mud flaps and still be able to plug in my 7 pin. I was really happy that I didn’t have to pay two day shipping, and it still arrived in that amount of time just like it said it would.

by:

For a 7,500 lb hitch, I was surprised it didn’t have a wedge support welded on where the flat iron is welded to the square tube.

by:

Quality mount. I needed a longer mount for my golf cart and this will work great.

by:

I have traveled across the US towing an overloaded Uhaul 12' trailer.
The trailer was still behind me when I arrived, so the hitch functioned as promised.
I did not, however, require the extra long hitch as suggested for my particular vehicle, but it will serve as an extra. Unnecessary purchase.

My son has since purchased a hitch from etrailer for his new Ford Edge.
We're both happy - very robust and well engineered product(s)

Excellent. Now mostly serves as an intimidation factor for those who would tailgate me...

by:

Product is exactly what was expected. But what is really 5-Star is this company's actions after the order is submitted. The website allows the customer to follow the timeline of the item from the order being placed to being pulled to being shipped to having a tracking number.... and in an extremely quick manner! Will shop here again.

by:

I needed a hitch with a long shank because of my spare tire being mounted on the back of my Jeep. This one does the trick!

Works as intended. Very pleased.

by:

I got everything on time and it’s working good and also high quality

by:

The etrailer Curt Hidden Hitch was almost $200 less expensive than the suburu dealer, without installation. Thank you etrailer your suburu install video was fantastic. Very apprehensive about removing the entire rear bumper panel on my new outback; but had my laptop open in the back of the suv,and installed like clockwork. Hidden hitch has no unsightly drop bars hanging
Below the bumper. Unbelievable price, looks and
Tows great, and saved well over $350 installing
Myself. Suby looks great, and friends are amazed I
would tackle this job myself...This is my 2nd hitch
from etrailer, and I like the efficiency, and detail of your website. HATS OFF to you etrailer. Satisfied customer...

by:

Excellent product and service.
Bought
this long heavy duty ball mount so I can open my tail gate with a trailer still hitched up.
All the online measurements and information made it much easier to choose the correct mount.
Works great!

by:

Great product! I’ve had mine for about a year and I use it to pull my 3800 lb bass boat all over Michigan. I actually had to buy this extended hitch, because all the gm products have the hitches tucked further under the bumper. Which when I use my mudflaps that hook onto the hitch, they would always hit the bumper. Great product.

by:

This was quite obviously the right drawbar (longer than most) for my application because the hitch is nicely tucked under the rear of the car. The extra length is required to get the trailer coupler away from the bumper cover. I positioned the drawbar in the 'lift' orientation. Very pleased with it!

by:

Excellent service from etrailer! Required an extended hitch so I could open the truck tailgate with the trailer attached and has done the job it was purchased for. The finish looks as new as it did when I bought it a year ago.

by:

My 2010 Tundras tailgate would hit my pop-up campers trailer jack when hooked up; and I could not fully lower the tailgate. My dog was not a fan. Needed an extended hitch, and this one was a solid 5” longer than the typical size I’m accustomed to. Works like a charm. As always, fast shipping and quality products, thanks again etrailer!

by:

Works great on my lifted jeep, with a s pare!

by:

Great drawbar, I like the extra length between my truck and boat. Quality built very happy with Curt drawbar and the fast shipping from etrailer.

  • Long Ball Mount Recommendation that Provides 3.5 inches Of Drop for Towing Casita Trailer
Your number one priority with picking out a ball mount needs to be going with one that allows the trailer to tow as level as possible. Since your trailer requires a 3.5 inch drop to tow level your best option is a longer ball mount that has a drop figured closer to what you need than the two options you mentioned. The best option for that is the Curt ball mount part # C45270 which provides 4 inches of drop and is 13 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball...

  • Option for Adding Length Between Tow Vehicle and Trailer
You didn't say how much more length you'd need to let your tailgate open but we have the Curt Class III Drawbar # C45270 which is 13 inches from the center of the pin hole to the center of the ball hole to center of the pin hole. This is most likely longer than what you have. The problem with hitch extenders is that they cut the capacity of the hitch they are installed in by quite a bit and most wouldn't have the capacity needed for a travel trailer your size.

  • Longer Ball Mount Recommendation with 2 inch Rise
So we know you'll need a longer ball mount which we do offer, but what I need to know most is how much rise/drop you need so that your trailer will tow level. If you need a 2 inch rise we have the Curt part # C45270 which has a 2 inch rise and a length of 13 inches overall.

  • Extra Long Ball Mount with Rise and Drop
I do have a solution for you, but we no longer carry the Hidden Hitch ball mount 80233 and it isn't available from the manufacturer anymore. It was 16 inches long and had a rise of 2-3/4 inches and drop of 4 inches. As well as a 6,000 pound towing capacity. A ball mount we currently have with similar specs is the Curt # C45270. It has 2 inches of rise and 4 inches of drop with a max capacity of 7,500 pounds. It is however 3 inches shorter at 13 inches.

  • Recommended Ball Mount for 2 Inch Receiver with 750lb TW and 7,500lb GTW with 2 Inch Rise
The closest ball mount to your specifications that is offered is just longer than the 9 inch length you were looking for. The Curt Class III # C45270 is 13 inches long and offers a 2 inch rise, a 750 and 7,500lbs rating, will fit 2 inch receivers and has a ball hole diameter of 1 inch. I have linked the product to this page for your viewing and purchasing convenience.

  • How to Determine What Ball Mount is Needed With 2018 Mercdes GLE 63S
You did half the work by measuring 15 inches to the top of the inside of your receiver on your 2018 Mercedes GLE 63S, but you will also need to measure from the ground to the bottom of your trailer's coupler. If the height of your hitch is greater, you will need a ball mount with that amount of drop. If the height of the coupler is greater, you'll need a ball mount with that amount of rise. For example, since the top of your receiver measures 15 inches, if the bottom of your coupler measured...

In order to determine how much of a rise you will need to tow your boat trailer, you want to subtract the height from the ground to the top of your receiver from the height of your coupler. • Longer Ball Mount for More Clearance Between 2016 Chevy Traverse and Boat Trailer
A longer ball mount will not cause you any problems as far as capacity or clearances or anything like that. So, if the Curt ball mount # C45270 has the proper capacity (7,500 pound gross trailer weight and 750 pounds tongue weight) then it will work with your 2016 Chevy Traverse. The Hidden Hitch ball mount 80228 has a little more rise, 2-3/4 inches, and the capacity is lower (6,000/600) and is shorter. Since the Curt ball mount is more like what you are looking for I would go with it.

  • Why are Some Ball Mounts Longer Than Others?
The reason some ball mounts have different lengths is simply to allow for more clearance between the tow vehicle and trailer. Some people like a longer ball mount if, for example, they want to be able to open the tailgate of their truck when the trailer is attached. Something like the Curt # C45270, which is 13" long may allow that while Curt # C45010, which is 8-1/4" long, may not. I've added a link to each of our ball mounts for you to take a look at.
