Video Transcript for etrailer Ball Mounts - Fixed Ball Mount - EBMK4EL Review

Today were going to review part number EBMK4EL, this is the Etrailer.com Super Extra Long Ball Mount Kit for 2-inch hitch. This kit will include an extra long ball mount. It will include the pin and the clip for attaching the ball mount to the hitch. It will include also the Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball System that comes with a 1 7/8-inch hitch ball head and a 2-inch hitch ball head and an Etrailer.com Ball Mount Bag.This set will be nice to use if you have to tow multiple trailers that might have different size trailer couplers.First Im going to start with the extra long ball mount. This is part number 80228. This ball mount will have a 4-inch drop or a 2 -inch rise.

And basically drop, thats the position it is in now, would be measured from the top of this shank to where the ball sits. So that distance will be a 4-inch drop. Now the rise would be because if you turned it over and inserted the hitch that way, your ball would be up here, your measurement will be from the shank here to where the ball is seated right here. And again that would measure 2 -inch rise. And one other measurement would bethis is an extra long ball mount so basically from the center of the hitch pinhole here to the center hole where the ball would mount 11 inches.

So well extend it out from the hitch pinhole 11 inches. This ball mount does have a gross tow weight capacity of 6,000 pounds and a tongue weight capacity of 600 pounds.Next part is the part number PC3 which is the 5/8-inch diameter pin and clip and that would be used to attach when the ball mount is slid into the trailer hitch. When the holes are lined up, you just slide the pin and clip through there, attach it and that holds your ball mount through your trailer hitch. Now the next item is the Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Bally System part number 901B. Now this part will include the shank and the washer and the nut to install it. The shank would install into the ball hole in your ball mount and the washer would be put on.

And the nut is a size 1 -inch size nut that would be tightened down to hold it on and then theres a hole in the bottom of the shank and the cotter pin and lets you slide and spread it. That cotter pin will help keep the nut on to the shank. I do want to give you a few measurements on the shank itself. The diameter which is this part here, thats the size hole thats needed in the ball mount, on this shank would be one each diameter and the length which is this part right here; on this shank would be 2 inches. And this ball system, the shank with the ball attached will have a gross towing weight capacity of 10,000 pounds.

And basically Ill show you how the hitch ball heads are attached to the shank. This one is a 1 7/8-inch diameter head which is marked right on the top here. They do have an integrated pin and what you would do is find the side that has the dimple on it, push it with your finger and go over the other side and pull all the way out. And then what you would do is line it up with the holes on the shank, push it all the way until its flush and youll have a 1 7/8-inch ball on your ball mount. Now if you end up having to tow a different trailer and a couple of sizes larger like a 2-inch, all you have to do is to push that pin out, take it off, find the hitch ball that says 2-inch on it. Push the side with the dimple on it and just push it through and boom. In a matter of seconds youll have a 2-inch hitch ball on your ball mount. One other nice feature I just want to show you on this hitch ball head is if youll notice they have a little rubber o-ring on this end and on the other end you can see in there theres an o-ring also so when its completely pushed in, the o-ring will seal on both these sides and will keep dirt or foreign materials from getting inside and causing the problem. The last item on this kit is the Etrailer.com Ball Mount Bag part number ETBMB. This item will work great for not only carrying your ball mounts but also any towing equipments such as tie down straps, pins, clips, locks. A strong handle makes it easy to carry and the large zipper opening which runs the whole length of the bag. Makes it very easy to install like in this case the extra long ball mount will fit in there no problem. This bag is made of a durable nylon material which will provide you many years of use. The zipper is a no-hassle zipper closure and handles for transportation. And then the last thing Im going to give you a few dimensions on the bag. Overall length is 16 inches and the height is 5 inches and the width on the bag would be 4 inches. And that should do it for our review of part number EBMK4EL. .

Excellent Web site, easy to navigate, great prices, easy purchase experience, fast delivery. I had someone install the hitch - all good, looks great - no photo, but take my word - it looks great on my 2003 Buick Rendezvous. An easy, "Five Star" rating (Web sales experience and hitch).

by:

The products ordered from eTrailer shipped and arrived quickly. Nothing was damaged and I was able to install everything easily. The extra long draw bar is perfect for my 2012 Town & Country mini van, providing good clearance of the rear bumper and ground. I would highly recommend these products.

by:

Over all the ball mount kit is great. Getting two size ball mounts is convenient. Only complaint I have is the hairpin cotter pin fits somewhat loose. Not a great design there but the rest is great.

by:

Thanks, Etrailer! The Ball Mount information is very helpful. This package works for my 2004 Sienna. Fast shipping. Happy with shopping experience!

by:

great product, easily change ball mounts when needed, high quality and the storage bag is a great touch to keep everything organized, with some extra space for a few tools, would purchase again

by:

Nice quality bag to organize all your towing needs. However if you install the ball on the 4" rise side you will have trouble fitting it back into the bag, this is the only reason I did not give it an excellent rating. The quick change 1 7/8" and 2" balls are great.

I have ordered from e-trailer on three different occasions and have been very pleased with all of my transactions.
Good quality equipment, great website and processing, and excellent customer service and follow up. 5 Star outfit to deal with all around. Will definitely do business with them again, I highly recommend them to all my friends.

Thanks again

by:

Just as described, excellent product. I would recommend keeping the interchangeable ball clean and removed from the receiver for years of headache free use. I use this on a 16 Town & Country with the rise, it sets the boat on a very level plane.

by:

Everything was as described. Hitch was easy to install and works great!

by:

Convenient

by:

I just got the product and haven't installed it yet but the packaging was torn to shreds. Even the UPS delivery guy commented about it. Everything was there. The products all look as described and I am pleased with that. I will let you know how it installs when we are done. Thanks

by:

Convenient to use. Its worth the price.

by:

Good price, fast shipping, great product. Convenient kit to store away. Very pleased

by:

Heavy duty ball-mount kit! I love the quick-chang ball assembly.

by:

Haven’t used it yet, but looks good. I’m not sure what height offset I need, so this kit gives me several options, plus two ball sizes. Really good value.

by:

Ball mount kit arrived quickly (within a few days) upon placing order online. Parts were shipped loose in box and bottom flap on box was open when received. Fortunately, all the parts were still in box and in good condition. Kit includes ball mount hardware I need to pull trailers with different hitch heights.

I installed the draw tite hitch onto my brand new 2018 Subaru outback. I'm 68 years old, not as strong as I was, but proud to say I did the job all by myself in about 4 hours. Here are some tips you may find useful.
Watch the video-it’s pretty good.
I had difficulty getting the exhaust system down and worried about getting it up again from the moment I got it down...read on-help will follow.
I bought a stepup drill bit which worked great for drilling the hole in the chasis.
I clamped the hitch onto a floor jack, then rolled it and raised it into position.
Used metal shears to easily cut out the heat shield as per the video.
Your inclination will be the screw the fishing tool provided all the way up the carriage bolt. That won’t work; just screw it on to the tip of the bolt.
I couln’t get the exhaust hangars in place even after lubricating them with wd-40. I dropped the rubber hangars into undiluted liquid car wash soap which made them much more slippery than the wd-40. After that the rubber hangars slipped into place pretty easily-that’s my best tip.
Finding the electric connection plug for the wiring harness was almost as hard as installing the hitch. I was very happy with how the job came out. Good luck.

by:

Nice heavy duty kit. Note that the mount is drilled for the larger 1 1/4" shank diameter. The balls match of course.

by:

I ordered the Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches. My order was delivered fast, but it only came with one ball where two were specified. George and Paula got on it immediately and I received the missing ball in just 3 days. Nice recovery team! I would have given five stars for the product quality, service, and delivery had it been a complete order from the start, but that said, great service!

by:

Great product. Definitely easier with 2 people to lift up the hitch for final installation

by:

This is the one thing I ordered with my hitch, wiring harness, etc. that I'm not sure about. Either the balls are slightly too small or the pins are too small for the hitch I have, so when I haul something, it makes an almost rattling noise. Super annoying! I also haven't needed both size drops. But if I ever do, I'm sure I'll be glad I got it.

by:

My experience sucked with this company. I ordered 1 unit but received and was billed for 2 units. I have 1 car with a hitch and would never need 2. I then attempted to get a refund and return the extra unit I was billed for. Unfortunately. the cost to return the unit by ANY method of shipping available was more than the cost of the unit itself.
Will never use this site again.

Thank you etrailer for the quality products I received early last year. We needed a trailer hitch to install on our Subaru Forester for our move from Gig Harbor, WA to Spokane. We received the hitch hardware including the tow bar and electrical harness. The entire process took 4 hours. The installation process went off without a hitch (bun intended) using detailed videos I found online.
Thank you etrailer.

I purchased the etrailer.com 2-3/4 " Rise or 4" Drop Ball Mount Kit, Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver and Twist-in 7-Pole RV-Style Trailer Connector for my 2011 Chevy Silverado. Quick Delivery! All the necessary parts arrived in perfect condition. Directions were spot on and the instructional videos were great.

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for 2000 Honda CR-V
For towing a trailer with your 2000 Honda CR-V the best option for a hitch would be the Curt Class III part # 13314 which is the more popular and higher weight rated 2 inch hitch size. You will need trailer wiring to cover the lights of the trailer when towing so for that the best option is the Tekonsha part # 118336 as it has the easiest install and the most reliable converter box. For a ball mount solution the part # EBMK4EL would be a solid choice as it has a 4 inch drop and ability...
