What is the Purpose of an Extended Ball Mount?
Question:
I need ball mount that will fit a 2 Curt hitch, with a 2 . You have several products that fit this requirement. However, I havent been able to find any guidance/information on why the length matters. As a point of reference, I have a 2007 Toyota highlander with a towing package. 350lb tongue, 3500lb trailer hitch capacity. I presently tow a 6x10 trailer with a total weight of approximately 1500lbs. thank you

I would be happy to help you. The length typically depends on the trailers jack and clearance for tail gates on trucks or lift gates on rear hatches. If you are not worried about or having clearance issues I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" ball and a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop. It also includes a hitch pin and clip, hitch receiver lock with keys, hitch cover, and a storage case. The Curt Class III Drawbar - 2" Rise - 4" Drop - 13" Long item # C45270 you were looking at would work too if you already have a hitch ball and want to have some kind of extension for clearance.
