Video Transcript for Redline Brake Assembly Mounting Hardware Installation

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the Redline mounting hardware for brake assemblies. One thing that you always seem to forget at least I do whenever you're doing trailer repair or trailer upgrades for that matter is the small things, right Like the nuts and bolts and small connectors and clamps and things of that nature. And a lot of times, you know when you're making those improvements you know you can break the bolts and break hardware and stuff too. And that's where a replacement bolt kit is gonna come into play. You know, so these are gonna allow you to mount up your drum assemblies or even your disc brake assembly brackets to the flange on your axle.

So these are gonna be seven sixteenths in diameter and these are designed to work with those seven and 10 inch assemblies. They might work with others too if that's what size hole you have in your flange air and pretty straightforward, you know what I mean It's just one of those things like today we're actually adding disc brakes to our trailer, right And so there was no existing hardware. It's like we took a drum brake assembly off and we're able to reuse those bolts. So we get in here and go, well, we forgot about it. So we got the kit and makes it a little bit easier even if you had an existing drum brake set up on here.

A lot of times, like I said it's just always, it never fails, you know especially if your trailer's super old and beat up it's almost better just to get new nuts and bolts. That way you're not fighting with it cause you know you know that's how it'll go. You'll try to save them and then something will happen and then having to take a trip to the store whatever the case may be. But pretty straightforward, you know, you got your bolt you're matching split lock washer and your hex nut there. And so these come in a few different, a few different varieties.

You know, there's a package for just one side of the axle so you get total of four or there's a whole pack that's for the whole axle or both sides of the axle. So you be able to do each side and you can buy 'em individually if you need to or buy multiples if you're doing a tandem axle trailer or something like that. So regardless on your current setup or what you need there's gonna be a solution for you. Once your bolts are all put in place though you wanna make sure to come back and properly torque 'em down using a torque wrench. And that'll finish up our look at of the Redline mounting hardware for our brake assemblies..

Nuts and bolts.. what can I say..maybe the should be stainless to go with the stainless brakes...time will tell

by:

The hardware I received was a mixture of 1/2 inch bolts and 7/16 washers and nuts. I figured the 1/2 inch size was the way to go since the brackets were drilled for 1/2 inch. A trip to the hardware store and an hour of my time took care of the washer and nut problem. So now I have 8 7/16 lock washers and 8 7/16 fine thread nuts that I have no use for.

I soon realized that the mounting brackets on my new axles were pre-drilled for 7/16 hardware. So I drilled the brackets out to 1/2 inch to accept the bolts. Then, upon mounting of the supplied caliper brackets, I found that there was insufficient clearance for some of the washers/nuts to fit onto the bolts, so I had to go to undersized hardware. What a cluster!!

by:

I definitely recommend a trailer for all parts regarding your marine boat trailer.

by:

Didn’t put in lock washers with nuts and bolts.

by:

Boat trailer brakes arrived on schedule and were in excellent condition. They fit perfectly and appeared to be of excellent quality. Very happy with the service and quality of the product.

Sometimes having the extra hardware on hand will work out in the long run. We do have the mounting nuts separately as part # 6-17.

by:

great service and great products and great advice

by:

The plating seemed to be top quality and the nut to bolt fitment was superb. The best thing is, they came right to my door. I didn't have to go to the hardware store to dig through the bin of nuts and bolts and possibly break a nail. Very convenient and safe.

The products were great and worked exactly as specified.

by:

Ordered these self adjusting Brakes to replace the manually adjusted front pair for a trial. The brakes were easy to install, and have worked well. I will buy another set to replace the rear set. Conclusion a nice easy upgrade anyone can accomplish. I would recommend this product.

by:

Regular every day nuts bolts and washers. Packaged right and delivered timely. That being said, the application I purchased them for was not a 100% fit. The electric brake backing plates came with the bolts already pressed in. The bolts in this kit are hex head and I don't think they would press in and clearance could be an issue. I have not done my install yet so can't say for sure. I will use the lock washers and the nuts.

by:

I only needed wheel cylinders for my 25 year old boat trailer but the value in replacing the whole backing plate was great. Perfect fit with no modifications necessary. They bolted right on and the brake lines matched up like they were original. Thanks for reviving my trailer.

by:

It was easy to select the trailer brake kit. The dimensions were right there so I could measure what I needed and order. Glad I read the reviews that said to purchase replacement hardware too. Quick delivery And I am all set

by:

My old hardware for my brackets was completely rusted and bolts were rounded off and hard to be cut/drilled out. This was a perfect replacement

by:

Was very pleased with the purchase. The only small negative on my order was the adjustment assembly was missing on the right side brake assembly. The good point was a new one was shipped and received within 2 days. To me that was very impressive. Good job by customer service department.

by:

Product arrived in excellent condition and clean. I was eligible for free shipping. Order was placed on sunday afternoon and received north of NY state on next friday. I would definitely consider buying from etrailer again.

by:

Brake assy. for my boat trailer fit perfect.Fast delivery and great customer service.

by:

Very pleased with the knowledge, assistance and guidance Kevin provided me with my purchase. Items shipped the same day and arrived in 6 days. Trailer break items were all the proper size and fitted perfectly. Job well done, thanks a million.

by:

All bolts, nuts and lock washers were present and accounted for. Grade five, nothing special but handy to have them delivered with the brake package and save a trip to town.

by:

Don't know if I will need these yet, but I was glad to be able to get these at the same time I purchased the brake assembly.

by:

This was just part of my disc brake order. My whole order came in 2 days. Paid extra for 3 day delivery. No problems with my order. As always etrailer is A1.

by:

Make installation much easier

by:

I only needed the nuts and lock washers, but they worked perfectly.

by:

Ordered complete set of brakes and other items for my trailer and got them today.
Very fast delivery. I wish all companies were this good in dealing with customers.
I rate them excellent.

by:

  • Determining Which Brakes Fit 10" x 2-1/2" Drums On Boat Trailer
Based on the information you provided either the Titan Hydraulic Brake Kit - Free Backing - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,750 lbs # T4071600-500 or # T4423500-400 will fit your drums. The only difference between these two brakes is the # T4071600-500 are made of standard metal where the # T4423500-400 have a Galphorite coating giving it superior corrosion resistance. Since you are putting these brakes on a boat trailer I recommend the # T4423500-400 as they will be less likely...

The complete assembly is often less expensive than replacing the individual components. If you want just the components you mentioned, I recommend the 10" X 2-1/4" Hydraulic Brake Shoe/Lining (One Wheel) # BP04-120 and the Wheel Cylinder - 10" and 12" Single Servo RH # BP17-020 in addition to the left hand # BP17-030. • How to Determine if Dexter Brakes T1878800-700 Fit
I can tell you how to determine if the Dexter Hydraulic Brake Kit # T1878800-700 fit your trailer, but we have no way of knowing fits for any one trailer. You'll need to measure the inside of your drum and it needs to be 10" diameter and at least 2-1/4" wide; you need to have a brake flange with four mounting holes, and your wheels need to be 14" or 15". If you meet those requirements you can use the # T1878800-700; you'll also need Mounting Hardware # BRKH10A.

Based on the information you provided you most likely have a 10" disc brake kit like the Kodiak # KOD59FR. The only way to verify exactly what you have or will need to replace them is by contacting the trailer manufacturer with your VIN information or by disassembling one of your hubs to measure and verify the correct parts and sizes. This Kodiak attaches to a Mounting Flange # 4-35 with the bolt holes spread 2-7/8" vertically and horizontally. You will also need to check the spindle. The...

  • Demco vs. etrailer Hydraulic Dacromet 3,500 lb Trailer Brakes
Hi Ed, In regards to the 3,500 lb Demco Hydraulic Brake Kit # 40716-15 and the Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # AKUBRK-35-D, starting with the country of origin, the Demco are made in the U.S. and the opposing brakes (made by AxleTek) are made in China. They are both designed for a boat trailer because of their corrosion resistance, but the better option is the Demco # 40716-15. The reason for that is because they are free-backing brakes, which means you can back up without the brakes engaging,...
