Video Transcript for Curt Hitch Ball F-2 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a hitch ball bushing. This hitch ball bushing's simply reduces a 1 1/4" diameter hitch ball hole to a 1" hitch ball hole. The reason why this is important, or the reason why this is used, is because a lot of times people have a ball mount, and then they don't have an appropriate sized hitch ball. What this does is this allows you to use the hitch ball with a 1" diameter shank on a hitch ball that has a 1 1/4" diameter hole. That's why a reducer's important, simply reduces the hole from an 1 1/4" down to 1".It's made from a durable steel construction, the zinc finishing to resist rust and the corrosion. The overall measurement edge-to-edge going this direction is about 3/4." Edge-to-edge going this direction is an 1 1/4".

Then inner edge to inner edge is 1".That's gonna do it for today's look at the hitch ball bushing or hitch ball hole reducer.

Just what I needed

by:

I bought a new hitch 16,000 lb and new ball didn't think about ball bolt diameter being smaller size so I had to order the bushing to go from a 1 1/4 " to a 1" hole so ball didn't slide a round in the hitch , put it together a used it yesterday worked great pulling the trailer no problems.

by:

I ordered the WDH after trying towing with just a sway bar for our Honda Pilot - Airstream Sport22. Once setup the rig now tows level and is quite a bit more stable.
The hitch is very well constructed and the directions were fairly easy to follow, I decided to flip the link plate even though the coupler was top mounted it was located at the bottom of the A -frame. Per the directions you will need to retorque the fasteners, I did this after a couple of short trips 10-25 miles. After an 825 mile trip only the angle set bolt needed a little more tightening.
One thing to note, the hitch does include a bushing for a 1" ball shaft.

by:

Fast shipping and products were as described on the site. The convert-a ball will handy for pulling different trailers with one hitch set up.

by:

I had traded campers and was setting up my hitch to tow my new camper and discovered I had to change the ball which had a smaller dia. shaft. Ordered this from etrailer and it arrived very quickly and was high quality. Worked just like I needed it to.

by:

Bushing reduces 1/1/4 inch hole on ball mount for 1 inch shank on 2 inch ball. Well made not cheap. Fit seemed a bit looser than I expected, but that should avoid getting stuck if I try to remove the ball. And way better than having to pound or press together.

by:

Could fit less sloppy

by:

products were as described, and arrived as promised, etrailers quality products and reasonable shipping charges make it one of the best values on the net.

by:

Great, was a hard to find part etrailer.com had it and shipping was fast.

by:

Fits perfectly in the aluminum drop hitch with a 1-1/8” hole.

by:

Helped install ball on equalizer hitch, Tolerances were good and it fit well

by:

Product was exactly as ordered but was about 1/16 inch longer than the draw bar tongue thickness. I will need to grind the bushing to allow mounting the ball to the drawbar. Otherwise fine.

by:

Worked great, etrailer.com was great as well!

by:

It didn't fit I had to grind it down but maybe my hitch was a little smaller diameter?

by:

Must have for a shaft smaller than ball mount. Works great.

by:

Perfectly fit as a replacement for a boat trailer made in the 1960's.

by:

everything it promised to be.
I had
purchased a ball with 1" shaft and a ball mount with a 1 1/4" hole this was the perfect fit easy assemby

by:

Item was missing from first shipment but, etrailer sent one right out. Great customer service. Will definitely purchase from them again.

by:

Only way to adapt a 1" shank ball to 1 1/4 hitch.

by:

Ball and spacer have worked out great

by:

Does what it's supposed to do....reduces the ball mount hole opening to fit the ball shank.

by:

Works and fits as intended.

by:

I installed this in my 2018 Murano a year ago and it has worked perfectly. Was very easy to install and does its job. Thanks!

  • Hitch Ball Reducer Sleeve for Ram 2500 Pickup
It sounds like you need a spacer for your hitch ball. If your ball has a 1-inch shank and the ball mount has a 1-1/4-inch opening, use Reese part # RP80106 or Curt part # F-2.

  • Availability Of a Ball Mount With Friction Sway Control Tab Rated For 10,000LBS
You do have a couple options but the Curt Ball Mount w/ Sway Control Tab # D320 is not available in a 10K weight capacity. You can use the similar Curt Ball Mount # C45310 rated for 10,000lbs and weld on a Sway Control Tab # C45822. We do also have the Bolt On Bracket # RP26003 but his has a 1" hole versus the 1-1/4" hole on the ball mount. So you will either need to drill the hole larger or use a 2-5/16" Ball # C40007 and Reducer Bushing # F-2. Then you will be able to mount the Friction...

  • 2 Inch Stainless Steel Hitch Ball with 1-1/4 Inch Shank
I do have options for you but we do not have exactly what you are looking for. The best option we have is the 2" Hitch Ball part # SC23-C which is made of stainless steel and has a 1" diameter shank. In order to then use this with a 1-1/4" diameter ball hole you would also need the Hitch Ball Bushing part # F-2. The Hitch Ball Bushing is zinc plated and unfortunately we don't have any that are stainless steel. We also have the Fastway Trailer Hitch Ball Cover with Tether - 2" Ball Item...

  • Why is Curt Hitch Ball # 40038 w/ 12,000 LB GTW Shank Diameter Smaller Than Husky Ball w/ 8,000 LB
I spoke with my contact at Curt and numerous factors go into the capacity of a hitch ball, including the way the shank is threaded as well as the way the metal was finished. The Curt Hitch Ball, # 40038, has been tested and has a 12,000 lb towing capacity. You definitely want to use a hitch ball that is rated high enough for the weight of your horse trailer and part # 40038 would cover this. Although the Husky ball looks to be sturdier, you mention that it only has an 8,000 lb capacity...

  • Bushing for Reducing Hitch Ball Hole from 1-1/4 Inch to 1 Inch
The bushing that's as close to 11/16 inches that we have is # F-2. This reduces the hole diameter from 1-1/4 inches to 1 inch and is 3/4 inches tall. So it's only 1/16 inches taller than your ball mount's platform.

  • Availability of a Trailer Hitch Ball with a 1-1/4 Inch Shank and a 1-7/8 Inch Diameter
The only 1-7/8 inch ball that we carry with a 1-1/4 inch shank is # C48810, but this is used for a pintle hitch combo hitch. What you can do is use a bushing like # F-2 to go from a 1-1/4 inch ball hole to a 1 inch. You could then use a ball like # 19260.

  • Ball Mount with 5-1/4 Inch Rise and 1 Inch Diameter Ball Hole for a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch
Rise or drop doesn't have to be exact. If you can get it within 1 inch you will be just fine. We have # C24WR which has a 5 inch rise and has a 1 inch diameter ball hole. Or another option is to use # C45336 with bushing # F-2. The bushing acts as a spacer allowing you to use a 1 inch diameter ball shank in a 1-1/4 inch ball hole.

  • Length of Ball Platform for Curt Ball Mount C45446
On Curt ball mount # C45446 from the center of the ball hole to the nearest vertical part of the ball platform is approximately 3 inches. This ball mount has a 1-1/4 inch ball hole so if you wanted to use a ball with a 1 inch shank you would need to use reducer bushing # F-2.

  • Availability of Corrosion Resistant Hitch Ball Bushing
We do have a selection of hitch ball bushings available, such as the silver zinc Curt Hitch Ball Bushing # F-2, however these are designed specifically to reduce a particular ball mount hole to a smaller size so that it can accommodate a different sized hitch ball shank. If this is what you are needing, then this product will work great for reducing a 1-1/4 inch ball mount hole to a 1 inch hitch ball hole. The zinc finish will do an excellent job of resisting rust and corrosion. Otherwise,...

  • Can Hitch Ball Bushing F-2 Be Used With Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount AMSC6HD
Yes, you can absolutely use the hitch ball bushing and ball mount together without any issues at all: - Hitch Ball Bushing - 1-1/4" to 1" # F-2 - Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # AMSC6HD The slight gap with the small difference in height isn't going to be problematic in regards to tightening the hitch ball in the ball mount. • Is there a 1-7/8 Inch Trailer Hitch Ball with a 1-1/4 Inch Shank
Ball # C48810 is the only 1-7/8 inch diameter ball that also has a 1-1/4 inch shank. Like you said it is made to fit a pintle hitch combo ball mount. What I recommend is a ball with a 1 inch diameter shank like # 19260 and then use bushing # 58184 or # F-2 to use it in your ball mount with the 1-1/4 inch opening.

  • Can You Use a Hitch Ball With a 1" Shank On The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Hitch?
Since the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA94-00-0600 has a 1-1/4" hole for a 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # EQ91-00-6100 you will need a Hitch Ball Bushing # F-2 to use your 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40007 with a 1" shank. This will prevent the ball from moving around inside the larger opening on the hitch.

  • Ball Mount for Towing Rental Trailer with 2022 Honda Odyssey
U-Haul rental trailers typically have a coupler height of 18 inches. When we installed the etrailer # e98855 on a 2022 Honda Odyssey, we found the receiver height to be 13 inches. This would be a height difference of 5 inches. The Draw-Tite # 40332 ball mount offers a 5 inch rise, so it would be a pretty good choice for you. However, I'd go with the Curt # C45336 instead. It's a little less expensive and has plenty of capacity for your needs. For a 2 inch trailer ball, you'd use # A-90....

The Draw-Tite Ball Mounts, item # 4283, does not come in a 6 inch rise configuration. At this time we do not have a ball mount with a 6 inch rise available. We do offer two ball mounts with a bit higher rise. The Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Ball Mount for 2 inch Hitches, item # AMSC6HD, has a 6-1/2 inch rise, and the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Ball Mount, item # AMSC8, has a 6-3/4 inch rise. This would only get you to 10,000 lbs max towing capacity though. If you let me know what you are towing and what you're towing it with (including the type of ball mount being used) I can see if we happen to have any alternative options for your application. There are numerous ball mounts that will fit your Class III trailer hitch and that have a 5 inch rise that you can use to tow the trailer level with your 2015 Nissan Murano. Ball mount # C45014 will not work because it does not fit a Class III hitch. It is too small. I recommend # C45336.
