Video Transcript for Tow Ready Hitch Ball - Pintle Hitch Ball - 63018 Review

Speaker: Today, we're going to be taking a look at a 2-inch pintle hitch ball. This pintle hitch ball has a capacity of 10,000 pounds. It's labelled right here on top of the ball. It's engraved in the steel. The shank diameter on the unit, that's going to give us a diameter of an 1 1/4 inch. Taking measurement of the shank length, measuring from the bottom of the flange to the end of the threaded portion.

That's going to be 2 9/16 of an inch. If we measure from the top of the ball to the bottom of the flange, you can see it that's going to measure right at 2 5/8 of an inch. Now, the hitch ball and the nylon lock nut are included. The unit is made from a very strong and durable steel construction. It's going to feature a really nice-looking chrome finish on it.

That also helps to resist rust and corrosion. The hitch ball does have the wrench flats on it. That's the flat sides here on the platform. That's really going to come in handy with the installation process. When installing this, you will want to get it installed properly according to the manufacturer specifications. All that information can be found on the tag that's included with the pintle hitch ball.

That's going to do it for today's look at the 2-inch pintle hitch ball with a 10,000 pound capacity.

This ball is definitely built to last and seems bulletproof.

I looked at many different websites, but in the end, I made the correct decision and went with etrailer.com. Thanks for the great prices and very fast shipping.

by:

The only place I could find 1 1/4 shaft hitch ball. Fast delivery. Good quality... would prefer that the nut didn't have nylon threads. Would have given 5 stars if the threads weren't nylon.

by:

Quick delivery and exactly the right product. If I need towing related products etrailer is the only place I will shop.

by:

Excellent product and service. I was told by others that I would be pleased with etrailer and they were right

Took a 36" pipe wrench, bench vice, and 20 minutes to tighten the nut. I'm not complaining!! Very strong and I love it.

Great product, and etrailer is a great and easy company to work with. I do very much appreciate there attention to what to serve, and find a solution. It means so much today in this business world!!

by:

It does not appear that this item accomodate the application I was hopimg for. I would like to return this item.

by:

Six stars. If I ever start an internet business, I will pay these guys (gurus) to teach me how they do it. Always correct parts. Always have what I need. Even stuff I didn't think I could find. Shipping times promised, then received in half the time. I have an order waiting for me to complete, but can't spend the money yet. But going to order some lights (too many to choose from) and connectors, and other things like a SNAP RING. Who carries 2.25 inch snap rings? Oh, review ball? It's great. Shipped as advertised. Fits my trailer and hitch. What else can you say about a ball?

by:

Nice heavy duty ball

by:

I've towed trailers every bit of 14,000 lbs, wrapped chains and shackles around it with tow straps and abused this thing for a year now and it doesn't care. Great product and fits perfect on my pintle hitch!

by:

Our order came when promised and in excellent condition. Very happy with etrailer.com Definitely will purchase from them in the future.

by:

Great replacement ball for my pintle hitch! Fits perfectly! Very heavy duty at 14k!

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System and Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2004 Honda Pilot
In order to choose the correct weight distribution system, you will need to find the total tongue weight of your towing setup by adding the tongue weight of both your loaded ready to tow trailer and any cargo stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. The average total tongue weight (TW) rating of a trailer is typically 10-15% of the gross trailer weight (GTW). An easy way to find this would involve using a tongue weight scale like the Trailer Tongue Weight Scale part # e99044. When...

  • What is the Capacity of a Pintle Hook Combo Hitch when Used with a 2 Inch Ball
If you were to use a 50mm ball or the 2 inch ball # 63018, you will need to go by the ball capacity since it will most likely be lower than the pintle hitch capacity. In the case of # 63018, the capacity is 10,000 pounds. If using it as a pintle, it would have a 16,000 pound capacity.

  • Recommended Hitch Ball For Use with Equalizer Weight Distribution Systems
Since Equalizer specifically recommends a hitch ball at or less than 2-3/8 inches in length with a 1-1/4 inch diameter shank you would want to use the part # 63018 for a 2 inch ball or part # 63019 for a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball with the part # EQ37100ET. If you were not going to use the one that came with it.

  • Hitch Ball and Shank Recommendations for a Equalizer WD System
You would need to measure the shank of your current hitch ball to see if it would be compatible. You will need to measure the width of the threaded portion of the ball as well as the length of that same portion. For a hitch ball that fits the required dimension you would want part # 63018 for a 2 inch ball or part # 63019 for a 2-5/16 inch ball. For a shank you could use the part # 17120 as it would be compatible and would work well.

  • Which Pintle Balls are Compatible with Pintle Hook C48200
I pulled the two inch diameter pintle hitch ball, # TR63051, and part # C48200, off the shelf and you can swap this ball onto the pintle in part # C48200. If you only need a 2 inch ball and not both balls, you can order part # TR63011 which is the same pintle with a 2 inch ball. The note you read on the bottom of the page on part # 63018 pertains to a different manufacturer of pintle hooks, but this ball will not fit on the pintle hook combo, # C48200, because the shank is 1-1/4 inch...

  • Which Strait Line System Is Appropriate for a 10,000lb GVWR Trailer
The 1200 tongue weight Strait Line weight distribution system # RP66074 would definitely be the better choice over the 800 pound system, especially if the dry tongue weight is already at 931 pounds. I would actually suggest you go with a heavier duty setup like the 1500 pound tongue weight system, part # RP66130, if your loaded tongue weight is going to end up around 1031 pounds. You are also going to need a weight distribution shank and hitch ball. Shank # RP54970 is commonly used...

  • Recommend Hitch Ball to Fit an Equal-I-zer Weight Distribution Hitch
I have a solution for you, however, the Tow Ready 2 inch Trailer Ball, # 63018, has a shank length of 2-9/16 inches. This trailer ball will be too long to fit into the Equal-I-zer WD hitch. The Equal-I-zer Hitch Ball # EQ91-00-6080, is a 2 inch trailer ball with a 2-1/4 long shank. This is designed to be used in the Equal-I-zer WD hitches. A 1-7/8 inch thin walled socket, like # ALL643216 will be needed to mount the ball to the hitch head.

  • Can the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System # C17500 be Purchased Without the Shank
You can piece out the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System # C17500 with the following part numbers that include everything but the shank: Trunnion Spring Bar - # C17536 (need 2 of these) Spring Bar Lift Tool - # C17512 Frame Brackets - # C17508 Replacement Head - # C17507 Hardware Kit - # C17550 2" Hitch Ball - # 63018 or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40085 This is slightly more cost-effective than purchasing the whole assembly, but also keep in mind that the assembly comes with the shank....

  • Will Weight Distribution System 66074 be Compatible With Both 14ft Hallmark and Boat Trailers
Weight distribution system # RP66074 would work well for an enclosed trailer, but will not be compatible with your boat trailer if it is equipped with a hydraulic (surge) brake coupler. A better system would be the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System # RP66560. This offers the same tongue weight capacity as the # RP66074 system you were looking at, but the friction sway control would be compatible with your boat trailer setup if it has surge style trailer brakes. If your boat...

  • Replacement Pintle Hitch Ball Options
You do make a good point, but almost all of our replacement pintle hitch balls are designed for a specific pintle ball mount system which is why you don't see that dimension on every product page. The only pintle hitch balls that are for generic ball mounts are the ones from Tow Ready and we do have that measurement for the Pintle Hitch Ball with 2" Diameter, 10,000 lbs GTW # 63018 - 2-1/2" from bottom of flange to top of ball. If this doesn't work for you just let me know what weight...

  • Is The Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System C17500 Right For My Trailer?
With your trailer having a 7,000 pound rating, the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 # C17500 may not be the best option for you. Typically the tongue weight of a trailer will be 10% of its gross weight and with the # C17500 having a minimum tongue weight capacity of 800 pounds, it will end up being too heavy of a system. With that being said, the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 10K GTW,...
