Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today, we're gonna take a look at this Curt Heavy-Duty Dual Ball Attachment for your weight distribution shanks. This dual ball attachment is going to transform your weight distribution shank into an adjustable hitch, and of course, that weight distribution shank is sold separately. And this is going to fit standard weight distribution shanks with holes that are spaced at 2 1/2 inches on center, and this is also compatible with all Curt weight distribution shanks. Now, the two different sized hitch balls are going to obviously let you tow trailers with different coupler sizes, and to switch the ball, you're simply going to remove the pins that are included with this, and also, remove the vibration-resistant pin, and then, rotate the balls to the size that you need, and then, just re-insert the pins. So I wanna go ahead and just give you a brief demonstration of how to especially use this unique vibration-resistant clip. So I'm gonna go ahead and insert our pins just like if I have this attached to my weight distribution shank.
And then, I'm gonna take this clip and I'm going to attach it to the first pin here on the top, just like that, and then, bring this around and bring it around the bottom pin just like that. So that's how this vibration-resistant clip works on these pins, and then, when you're ready to remove this, just going to pop that off the bottom. And then I found, at least in my case, to remove this clip from the top pin, just push down, give it a firm push down, and then that's going to remove that from the top pin. So it's a unique clip that is included with this, and I think that's going to work very well for you. Now, just some specs on each of these balls.
The gross towing weight when used with a two inch shank, with using the two inch ball, this is going to have a gross towing weight of 10,000 pounds, and then, when you use the 2 5/16 inch ball on a two inch shank, the gross towing weight is going to be 15,000 pounds. If you use this with a 2 1/2 inch shank, using the 2 5/16 inch ball, you'll have a gross towing weight of 20,000 pounds. Now, the anti-rattle design is going to help reduce towing noise, and we have a bumper here that's going to help with that reduction in towing noise. And this features a black powder coat on the ball mount itself, and then, a yellow zinc finish on the balls, all that's going to help resist corrosion. Instructions are included with this, again, to go over the very simple installation process.
And that's going to conclude our brief look today, I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.

This dual ball attachment transforms any Curt weight-distribution shank into an adjustable ball mount. Provides a 2" or 2-5/16" ball for towing.I think this will be better than trying to remove my Gen-Y Torque-flex hitch when I want to tow a lite-weight trailer like a Uhaul. The Gen-Y hitch is extremely heavy and if I want to pull a trailer that requires a 2" ball like a Uhaul trailer this will be easier to deal with. All I have to do is remove my weight distribution head from my Gen-Y and put this Curt thing on the Gen-Y Weight Distribution mounting surface. A lot less weight to deal with.
I would have preferred to buy the kit with both shank and tongue, but it's a company purchase, so I'll accept the price gouging. I wish there were locking pins as well. Called the manufacturer and they said that they're coming soon. Well-constructed hitch, very impressed.
