Video Transcript for Review of MaxxTow Trailer Winch - Standard Hand Winch - MT50156

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the MaxxTow MaxxHaul Hand Winch with the 20 foot long strap, has a 1200 pound weight capacity. Now this hand winch will mount to your trailer to help ease loading of your ATV, your boat, or any heavy equipment. Now it does include this crank handle right here. That'll bolt--includes a little bolt here, that will bolt it to the winch.

So what you'll end up doing, there's a hole in your handle, and there's a hole on that winch. You just line those holes up, put your bolt through there and it'll hold it into place. I'm not going to bolt it in yet because I'm going to show you the different things on it, but it says uses a one-way ratchet and mechanism. So in other words, if you crank this clockwise, you can see the little bring in the strap. And then to release the strap, what you'll do is take the small handle that's on the side and then lock it into the freewheel position.

And when you do that, you just push it forward and it'll lock in there and it allows that to freewheel. Now I am going to take the crank off, cause the handle will twirl, but you can see as you pull this out, you can pull out as much as you need. And then once you get to where you need it, all you have to do is take this handle here, release it, put it back into the ratchet position. And you can see now that you're ready to go. And what's nice about this.

Do you notice it's a pretty large handle that you can adjust or put it into the ratchet or release it, instead of some of the winches will have a little small lever that you got to try to move. This one's got a nice handle that you can grip to move it. And then again, all you have to do put your handle back in there and then you can crank it like you normally would. If you notice they do use corrosion resistant, durable, yellow zinc plating on both the drum and even on the crank handle. The handle has a nice plastic grip on it, makes the very cranking very easy.

And then the length on this handle from here to here, is going to be about 9 1/4 inches. Now the strap on this is a strong 20 foot long polyester strap, almost like a seatbelt material. It includes the nice forged zinc hook. Has the safety latch on it, so when you hook it up that latch or hold it into place. Gives you a nice secure connection. And the opening on this is about one inch opening that'll allow you to hook it into one inch. Now, also on the base of this, they do use pre-drilled holes for fast, easy bolt on mounting. You can see the base itself has a nice black powder coat finish. The base dimensions, we'll put a ruler on it, the length of it is right at 5 1/2 inches long. The width is right about 3 1/2 inches wide. The mounting holes you can see, there's two elongated holes here, and then there's one elongated hole here. So if we go center to center on those two, it's right at two inches wide. And if you measure from the center, screw it, this way if you go from the center there, to where you first be able to put up this long elongated hole is going to be about three inches all the way up to about 4 1/4 inches for mounting a bolt in here. A few specs on this, the capacity again is 1200 pounds. Now the gear ratio on this winch, when you do put that handle on there. And then when you crank that and you crank this, it'll be 4.25 to 1. So what that saying is for every 4 1/4 revolutions of this handle, you'll get one revolution of this drum. So that would be your gear ratio. So you could see as you crank that. To get one revolution, you'd have to go around 4 1/4 times. The drum storage again is 20 feet long strap, and it is a two inch wide strap. But that should do it for the review on this MaxxTow MaxxHaul Hand Winch with the 20 foot long strap and the 1200 pound weight capacity..

  • Recommended Winch and Mounting Bracket for a Malone Microsport Trailer
Yes, you can add a winch to the Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer item # MPG464-LB. You will want to use the CE Smith Winch Stand item # CE31013G. This will fit on the Malone trailer's 2" tongue. This stand is 30" tall and made of galvanized steel. I recommend using the MaxxTow MaxxHaul Hand Winch item # MT50156. This winch has a 20' strap and a 1,200 lbs capacity. To upgrade the tires you will want the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire item # AM10130. This is a class...

  • Recommended Trailer for a 16ft inflatable Fishskiff Boat
I have a solution for you but the CE Smith Multi Sport Plus Boat and Kayak Trailer item # CE48870 is not suitable for your 16' SeaEagle Inflatable Fishskiff. That trailer can only carry a boat up to 14' and as you pointed at it is quite a bit more narrow. I recommend the Malone MegaSport Kayak Trailer item # MPG535. This trailer can handle boats up to 20' long and has 86" wide crossbars. I have linked a review video below. You will want to add the Bunk Kit for Malone Trailers item #...

  • Base Dimensions of MaxxTow MaxxHaul Hand Winch MT50156
The mounting plate on the MaxxTow MaxxHaul Hand Winch part # MT50156 measures 5.5" long x 3.6 wide. It's okay if the base hangs over the edge a bit but we don't have any options with a 3.2" wide base.

  • How Long is the Crank Arm of the MaxxTow MaxxHaul Hand Winch
The arm of the MaxxTow MaxxHaul Hand Winch - 20' Strap - 1,200 lbs # MT50156 is 9-1/4" long, but whether or not it interferes with your PWC is really going to depend on where you mount it. Depending on how your trailer is configured you may just be able to move it up a few inches to keep it out of the way.

  • Will the MaxxTow MaxxHaul Hand Winch Work With the CE Smith Winch Stand
The MaxxTow MaxxHaul Hand Winch part # MT50156 will work just fine with the CE Smith Winch Stand part # CE31013G. There will be no additional winch mounting plate needed, you'd just bolt the winch base directly to the stand. There are pre-drilled holes on the winch stand which should line up with the holes on the winch but if not you would need to drill a hole or two.

  • Base Dimensions and Mounting Hole Location of MaxxTow MaxxHaul Hand Winch # MT50156
You will want to replace your MaxxTow MaxxHaul Hand Winch # MT50156 as there are no spare parts available for it. I created an image with the dimensions for the base with the mounting holes. The base is 5-1/2" long and 3-1/2" wide. There are 3 elongated mounting holes on the base. The 2 mounting holes near the strap end are separated 2" on center while the 3rd hole is centered on the base 3-5/8" to the center from the centerline of the 2 other mounting holes.
