Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The only problem was that the bolts that came with the hitch did not fit on the caliber, but that was as easy as running to tractor supply to pick up. Very happy with this purchase!!!

You mentioned that bolts that came with the hitch did not fit. As long as the bolts were five eights by 11 x 4 then they are the correct bolts for the 2008 Dodge Caliber. I believe what may have happened is that the bushing hole in the vehicle needed to be cleaned out. Over time the frame is constantly exposed to dirt, grime, moisture and salt. This gunk can find its way into the open weld nuts, or bolt holes, in your vehicle frame and harden over time. If the bolts are not fitting through, then spraying a lubricant into the bushing and then cleaning out with a wire brush will help.

I was so excited about this product. A friend had sent me a link to watch the video installation and I was sold! I purchased this on Thursday and the product arrived at my house on the following Monday! It was super easy to install. My husband had this on the bottom of my car within a matter of minutes (minus him trying to find his tools lol) We had a question about how much TORQUE it needed and my hubby couldn't find it at first in the instructions so at that point I placed a call to the business and spoke to a really nice lady I believe her name was Melissa? As I was asking her for the information I saw where it was listed in the instructions. Thanks for the great experience!

my shipment arrived early. I installed it in less than 30 minutes. I was very impressed. Happy customer thank you E trailer.

Putting the hitch and bolts on literally takes seconds.
Depending on what kind of tools you have, it may take a while longer to actually appropriately tighten the bolts. (MASSIVE BOLTS).
No complaint with the product itself, though. Wonderfully designed, and EXTREMELY HELPFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I had originally incorrectly ordered a cargo rack that was not rated to work with the hitch that I picked, and within a couple of hours after I placed the order, I received a call from customer service, based in Missouri, from a friendly rep that very helpfully showed me working alternatives, in a very pleasant attitude.
refreshingly wonderful customer service!

When I went to install the tongue I ran into an issue with a nob of welded metal in the receiver. I can only assume it's meant as a stopper. But the issue was that it caused the tongue to sit to far forward and I couldn't slide the pin in. I'm assuming this was a manufacture defect but after spending the time to get it mounted I just cut my tongue to fit the receiver. Obviously if I go to use a different tongue this will be an issue again.

Chris, Class I hitches, like the 24769, have a stop punched or welded into the receiver tube. The hitch manufacturer intentionally does this in order to prevent Class II capacity ball mounts and accessories from being used with Class I hitches. Class I hitches have a lower weight capacity than Class II hitches, and using a higher rated accessory might overload the hitch and cause damage the hitch or its attachment points to the vehicle. From the sounds of it, you had a Class II ball mount, which wasnt compatible with the Class I hitch. You can use your Class II ball mount so long as you load is within the weight capacity of your hitch and vehicle. If you want to avoid sawing any more ball mounts, just be sure to purchase a Class I ball mount next time. The pins holes will match right up to your Class I receiver.

I am very pleased with this trailer hitch. It fit perfectly and the holes lined up just right. It was easy and quick to put on. It is sturdy and well built.

1. The product was as described and came with all necessary hardware. I was not expecting wonders out of a Class 1 hitch. I simply wanted to be able to use a hitch bike rack on my Dodge Caliber instead of putting the seats down and throwing the bike in the back. 2. Installation was very simple. The video on the website was not underplaying it at all. I had an issue with the bolt holes being filled with crude, but they did match up to the holes on the hitch perfectly. 3. The timeliness was great. I ordered the hitch on a Saturday and it arrived by Thursday. 4. Very reasonible price.

Overall, I was very happy with the whole experience and would recommend this site and product to anyone.

by:

I am Very, Very Happy that I traded witheTrailer.com. Thank You for a great product. Very easy - I installed the hitch, by myself, in 12 minutes. Hint - if you are doing the install alone - use small jack to hold one side of hitch up - while you slide the bolts into the opposite side. The written directions are simple and the Video demonstration for Installation of the trailer hitch was fantastic. I am totally happy with the service I received & I have already referred several people to eTrailer.com.

I had gone to the dealership looking for a hitch and it was just to much for a lite duty hitch to carry my bike. So I went to the web and came upon your website..it was easy to look up what I needed and even had a video on how to install the hitch as well. I asked one of your experts a question about if a Torque Wrench is required as I do not own one. Yes, was the answer. I put it in my cart and tracked it (ground) in 4 days to my house.
The hitch was boxed well as it was heavy. It was installed (by my son in law) in about 15-20 minutes as there where only 4 bolts. (My neighbor had a torque wrench) It looks great and was easy to install right under the bumper. Thank you for making life easy for a change.

2008 Dodge Caliber

I am extremely pleased with the speed at which my order was fulfilled. I will also say that the videos of the installation of the receiver and its companion for the lighting kit were a large part of the reason I made the purchase from etrailer.com.
Good job.

2010 Dodge Caliber

Hitch quality is very good. Fit was excellent. Easiest installation I have ever done, partly because the Caliber rear sub-frame looks like it was made for it. Only down side was that my 1-1/4" bike rack and the receiver were a very tight fit. On the plus side, it will be very quiet.

2007 Dodge Caliber

First, awesome communication and shipping time by etrailer.com. This product fit my 07 Caliber SXT perfectly. You cannot even tell that the hitch is on there. The bumper hides the bar and the hitch opening is recessed enough so that it is accessible by the hitch adapter for my bike rack but does not show when the adapter is not in. Took about 30 minutes to put it on. I, too, had to spend a few minutes cleaning out the holes in the frame and I found that the 5/8" bolts that came with the hitch were too big. So, got some Grade 5 9/16" bolts..even they were very snug going in. Regardless, all in all, very happy with this!

I just received my Hitch yesterday. I need to get the torque wrench to put it on. As soon as I get it and put Hitch and cargo together, I will take a picture and post it. If any one wants good quality parts, reasonable prices and friendly helpful services. You don't need to go any further. This is the place to go. Big Thank you to the staff at etrailer. Looking to buy more parts from you soon again. Loads of hugs Sandra H.

Received product when expected. Installation was a snap, perfect fit. Kudos also to Dodge for the design of the car to allow for a hitch. Needed to purchased a wrench and socket at the automotive store, but good to keep in the car to check tightness on occasion. The online installation video made all the difference.

2008 Dodge Caliber

2008 Dodge Caliber Class I, 1-1/4 Receiver Hitch Received the Draw-Tite Hitch two days after the order. I received it at 5:00 PM and installed it within 45 minutes laying in the snow and ice with only a pair of Channel Locks, Hammer and Socket Wrench. I didn't need a jack or another person to help. I hung the rigfht side of the hitch loosely and then mounted the left side. I had a little trouble because of the salt spray in the bolt holes, but the hammer helped get them through. What makes this hitch so nice is the 1-1/4 receiver. I can haul trailers, bikes or wild game with special carrying devices that attach to the hitch.

The shipping was blazing fast (ordered sat got it weds) I'm not mechanical inclined by no means and it was a breeze. I installed it in 15 minutes (with out the need of a jack) I will be able to hit the trails in no time.. Thank you e- trailer

Got our order in two days, that was fast. Look at the installation video and thought no way it could be that easy. It was so simple... 30 minutes tops to install, and that included finding the torque wrench.
Top draw equipment..
Good installation video
Thanks to you and your team and tell the mfg thanks for a product well done.

by:

Great product, awesome shipping, couldnt be happier!!!

Install was probably the easiest thing i've done on a car yet! Only took about ten minutes to put on, and getting the ramps lined up and the car up on them was harder than the actual install! Shipping was great, i recieved the hitch in 2 days from my order in a large box in which the hitch was thoroughly bubble wrapped. All i plan to tow with this is my single rail motorcycle trailer, so this will be perfect!

Installing this hitch took me ten minutes and I was ready to start hauling my motor cycle trailer. Wonderful product, and the video was again spot on. Thanks for some great DYI materials and I'm looking forward to many years of safe and confident hauling

  • Hitch and Cargo Carrier Recommendation for a 2008 Dodge Caliber
First lets start with a trailer hitch for your 2008 Dodge Caliber. For that the Draw Tite hitch part # 24769 would be an excellent choice. It's also the best priced. The best priced cargo carrier we offer then would be the Curt part # C18145. You wouldn't need a light kit with this carrier since it's small enough to fit between the taillights of your vehicle.
