Will the Draw-Tite # 24769 Work with Curt Cargo Carrier # 18145 on a 2011 Dodge Caliber
Question:
I want to buy both the Draw-Tite 24769 and the Curt Cargo Carrier 18145 for my 2011 Dodge Caliber. My only reservation is that the Curt Cargo carrier requires a 6 clearance from the receiver pin hole on the hitch to the end of the rear bumper to ensure enough clearance for the cargo carrier. I cant find any specs to indicate if there is enough clearance. I would rather not buy the hitch first and then see if its got the necessary clearance ... I want to buy the hitch and the cargo carrier at the same time. Thanks.

I went out to the ware house and pulled the Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitch, # 24769, and the CURT Cargo Carrier, # C18145, and did some measuring. The dimensions I got are 10-1/2 inches from the closest part of the carrier to the center of the most rearward attachment hole on the hitch.
I produced a short video showing how I took the measurements and explaining how I would go about determining if the 6 inch measurement for the cargo carrier would be sufficient for your 2011 Dodge Caliber. You will need to do some measuring, but with the dimension I got you should have no trouble determining fit.
I would just use a clamp and a yard stick, placing the yard stick, or other straight board if the yard stick is too long, on the vehicle frame pointing straight down with the front edge at the center of the rearmost attachment hole and measure out to the farthest back part of the rear bumper, much like I did in the video with the hitch and cargo carrier.
