What Is Maximum Tongue Weight For Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 24769, For A 2007 Dodge Caliber

Question:

What is the maximum tongue weight? The mopar hitch is Class 1, and even at that, only carries a 150 lb. tongue weight. So I am looking for something with more weight bearing capacity. I want to carry three bikes. Thanks.

Anytime you are going to be installing a hitch to your 2007 Dodge Caliber, you will need to check your owners manual for the vehicles maximum towing capacity. You will want to make sure that your vehicle will be able to handle the capacities of the hitch you will be installing.

The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receive, # 24769, is a Class I hitch and has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 lbs. and a maximum tongue weight of 200 lbs.

The factory Class I hitch would have to be removed to install this hitch. If it is being installed on a Caliber SRT model there is some minor fascia trim required.

The maximum tongue weight on the Class I hitch is 200 lbs., so the loaded weight, which is the weight of the bike rack and the bikes, should not exceed 200 lbs.

I am sending a link of the installation instructions for the Valley Class II hitch and a link on how to choose a hitch mounted bike rack.
