Video Transcript for Reese Super Titan Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve Review

Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Reese Hitch Reducer. So if you just upgraded trucks and now you have a massive hitch receiver, but you like the ball mount that you had before, B and W is kind of a high end ball mount, if you want to continue to use it, you can just reduce the size of your hitch receiver, and that's what the Reese is gonna be good for. It's gonna bring this down from a three inch all the way down to a two inch. So this is gonna bring our hitch capacity down a little bit. So now it's gonna have a gross trailer weight of 12,000 pounds and a tongue weight of 1,200 pounds. And this thing is gonna be one of the options that's actually gonna kind of stick out, so if you also need a little bit more distance from your hitch to whatever you're hooking up on, this is gonna give you a little bit more.

So let's go over some measurements here. So I'm just gonna measure from the original hitch pin hole to the new hitch pin hole. And we're gonna extend out an extra four inches. So just take that into account whenever you're figuring out if this is gonna be the right one for you. If I we're to compare this to another one that we have, there are some that just go inside your hitch receiver, so it's not really gonna stick anything out.

So if you like where it's at, you can go ahead and do that. But it's made of steel, has a nice powder coated finish, and a couple other specs for ya. When it comes to the dimensions, it's gonna be overall about 9 1/2 inches long, about 3 1/4 inches wide, and then 3 1/4 inches tall. And pretty much that's about it. When it comes to reducers, just make sure you get it reduced to the right size.

But this is gonna allow you to use some of those other accessories that you may already have on another vehicle or that you're transferring over work with your new truck. With this adapter, we are gonna have to use an extra hitch pin and clip just because it sticks out of the hitch. If you get one that just goes straight in the hitch, we're not gonna have to, but if you are grabbing this one, grab an extra pin and clip, but definitely get a locking one just because even if you have a locking one for your ball mount that goes right here, they can still just pull the pin and then take the adapter with them. So we want to prevent that. So grab a locking hitch pin and clip.

Let me pull this thing out. I mean, it's just like any other accessory. You just do it first. So that's pretty much it. There isn't really much to this at all, but just so you can see the whole entire thing. I really do think this is gonna be a good option for you and you don't just get the reducer with this, you get a little bit more distance from your vehicle to your trailer that you're hauling, which I kind of like as well. And that's basically it for our look at the Reese Three to Two Inch Adapter Sleeve..

I ordered this 3 inch to 2 inch hitch reducer because I had purchased a new RV and the receiver on the new RV is a 3 inch hitch. My previous RV hitch size was 2 inch. I needed a 2 inch receiver because I am re-using my Blue Ox tow bar which has a 2 inch hitch. Fit perfectly. See pictures.

by:

We use this in the 20,000# receiver on our super C motorhome to mount a Roadmaster Falcon tow bar for our Jeep It works very well and have had no problems with it. I also mount a standard drop mount ball to pull a cargo trailer on occasion. I would definitely recommend it for these uses.

Good build quality. We use it to adapt our 2 inch hitch bike carrier to a 3 inch receiver on an f350

by:

This does NOT fit '17 Ford F350 built Jan '17. My F350 6.7l has a 3" receiver with a 5/8" hitch pin. This adapter has a 3/4" hitch pin hole. If indeed 3" receiver standard is 3/4" pin, then Ford messed up. Otherwise Reese is at fault.

The Reese # 38735 isnt compatible with the Ford 3 OEM receiver hitch due to the hitch pin hole discrepancy you mentioned. It is a fit for the Reese SuperTitan aftermarket 3 receiver hitch as mentioned in our product description. Reese is working on an application that will be compatible, it should be available soon.

by:

We got it to work, but the 3/4” hole was off a bit so it had to be grinded to fit. Couldn’t get the locking pin to fit. Had to use one from a farm supply shop with a big red handle. But in the end all is good.

I have purchased items through Etrailer and have always had good service and found their selection to be excellent. In this case they were the only company that I found that stocked this adaptor.

The first adaptor they sent would not fit the hitch receiver. The hitch receiver opening on my Super Titan 3 inch hitch is exactly that, 3 inch. The hitch adaptor outside dimension was 3 & 1/16th inch.

Etrailer sent a replacement hitch adaptor without any hesitation or question. Thank you etrailer for having good customer service. That is what brings customers back.

Unfortunately the second adaptor would not fit. Its outside dimensions were exactly 3 inch. I do not know the tolerances on the Super Titan 3 inch so it may be on the negative side as well. Rather than trying to establish what the dimensions of both the hitch socket, adaptor and fit clearance should be and having no alternative supplier, I took a grinder to the adaptor and fitted it to the hitch. Not much grinding was required and the resultant change in dimensions does not degrade the suitability of the adaptor for the intended use.

The adaptor fit the hitch receiver nicely but the hitch pin would not fit. I looked at the hitch adaptor and found that the hitch pin holes in the 3 inch tube and the smaller tube that is welded inside it to create the adaptor must have been drilled before the two pieces were welded together. The holes were offset when they were welded together. That had to be corrected without overbearing the fit which was possible but a pain. Thankfully I have access to the tools needed to accomplish this but do not believe that most people would.

At this point I will say that I have a number of Reese products and never had a problem with anything other than this adaptor.

In summary, etrailer has items that I could not find elsewhere and great customer service. Reese needs to review the design of this adaptor and improve the quality. If etrailer had another adaptor supplier I would have returned the second item and purchased it. Unfortunately it appears the Reese is the only game in town unless you have the adaptor fabricated yourself.

I suggest that etrailer discontinue sale of this item pending Reese verifying they have corrected the design and improve the quality of the product.

Purchased this item to use on my Ford F350 with an 3" hitch. I needed an adapter to convert the hitch size to 2" so I could install my bike rack on the hitch. This item is still working wonderfully.

by:

When I attempted to put the locking pin into the receiver it would not fully go through both sides of the receiver. I found one side of the welded inner sleeve was not aligned with the outer receiver and the outer receiver also had a metal lip. I was able to grind both pieces and the locking pin fit snugly and fully engaged the receiver. Apparently, the piece was not fully checked with a pin after the welding.

by:

Looked all over for this adapter. Just bought a 2017 Ford F-250 with a 3" hitch. All my inserts are 2" and Ford doesn't supply the adapters anymore.
The weatherTech mud flaps are another issue. The trim piece on the fender well won't allow the mud flaps to be installed.

by:

Three days after I ordered the hitches they showed up at my door. We bought a new F-350 and needed some new hitch assemblies for the 3" receiver. Everything was well packaged and so well made we figure these hitches will last a lifetime and then some. The height adjustable Pintle Hitch is stronger than the truck and and the stout B&W Tow & Stow three ball is an excellent design. No disappointments here. etrailer is a one stop shop for our towing and trailer needs.

by:

This piece is exactly what I needed to make my Blue Ox tow bar work with 3" receiver on my Renegade Verona Super C RV. It also adds the extra 3-4 inches of clearance so that the two bar does not hit the RV when folded into the storage position.

by:

I have to say how great the sales department is. When I placed the order I choose standard shipping 5-7 days I got a email from George J telling me he processed my order and it shipped he also upgraded the shipping to express 2-3 day at no additional cost, I replied WOW that's great! Also on the product, this 3x2 reducer is not a common part and etrailer was the only place that carried it and had it on stock to fit my motor home hitch. Thanks etrailer for great customer service.

by:

This is a great reducer for the new 2017 Ford F250/350 trucks. The factory model has a loose and sloppy fit. The Reese reducers is a much more heavy duty model with a snug fit. I would highly recommend it if you want to use a 2 inch hitch on your new Ford.

by:

Was able to bundle together several towing system components to ensure I had a complete and integrated system, thanks etrailer for making it easy snd fast!

by:

Working with company ordering was great they even upgraded my shipping free of charge that only thing is the item is not going to work for me so I will have to return it but definitely would order from the company again

by:

Good service and prompt delivery. Item's fastening pin did not quite fit the holes in the receiver; but easily resolved with only a small amount of filing to make the parts align properly. Perhaps 1/64" offset. Could be either this product or the coach's received. Representative was very helpful in product selection.

by:

I used it with my travel trailer and it worked great! Very solid and well constructed! Much better than the two pieces other manufacturers are offering!

by:

Excellent on time shipping thanks again know I need the curt 24 5th wheel and rail system for f350 2017 8 foot bed

by:

Very good quality.
Etrailer is always
great to deal with

by:

Excellent service, will be looking forward to the next purchase of a 5th wheel.

by:

Good construction, but it made my hitch stick out to far and the back up warning beeper was constantly going off every time a put the truck in reverse. Stopped using it for that reason

by:

Quality product, fits really well, good price & great delivery
allows us to use the 3 inch receiver on our Motor home to use our 2 inch tow bar to tow our vehicle.
Very happy with etrailer.

by:

Hello, I really liked dealing with your company, ordering was quick and concise and all of your products fully explained. My order came quickly and was easily tracked and all was intact and as advertised. I appreciate all of this and I have more projects in the near future and will not hesitate to order more items from you. Thank you.

by:

Yes it was a must have because the truck came with a 3in receiver, everything I have is 2in , it works great

by:

The product deliver was delayed, but etrailer did a great job of keeping me informed on status.
