etrailer delivered on time as promised and I had no problems with the order. The product was as described and works perfectly with my Husky Centerpoint hitch. The large adjustment range lets me level my trailer when towing with my 3/4 ton Silverado. I have now towed my trailer about 15,000 miles with it and had no problems.

Still working great, my camper pulls nice and level. And I still highly recommend etrailer.

by:

Was exactly what I was looking for.

I recently bought a new truck (Ram 2500 3/4 ton). My old truck was a Ram 1500 1/2 ton. My Husky hitch was fine on the 1500 truck, but not on the 2500, it sits a LOT higher off the ground. I needed a drop hitch that fit my Husky, and you guys HAVE IT. It worked out great, first trip out today with it, everything level and no sag on truck or camper. As stated in your catalog, this Curt brand DOES fit my Husky brand, NO PROBLEM. Thank you, what a life saver on not having to buy a whole new hitch.

by:

Every time I place an order with etrailer I know it will be correct. The service is great, Thank you!

by:

Heavy and solid, extremely well built. 100% what I need.

by:

My initial review of the hitch’s quality and finish is impressive. However, I haven’t had the opportunity to hook it up to the trailer yet due to our current snow conditions. That being said, my transfer of my previous receiver looks flawless to this one and should work very well. Going from a Tundra to a Ram 2500, there is a significant height difference. All my measurements in the garage look to be just what I needed. I’m very confident I’ve made the correct purchase!

by:

Wow, ordered a very heavy part on Monday afternoon, got it Wed morning. Its perfect! Thank you

by:

Great selection of products and excellent customer service!!!

by:

Very good quality, heavy duty construction and nice finish. Recently changed tow vehicle and needed to add more drop. This shank did the job.

by:

Exactly what I was looking for. Plenty of room for the adjustment needed. Excellent quality product, well fabricated. Very good customer service and speedy delivery time. Ordered on a Monday morning and had the part before 1pm the next day.

The part I ordered works perfect and we’re ready to begin another season of hauling our 27’ camper tomorrow.

by:

This is a good drop shank if you have a truck that is leveled with oversized tires.

by:

Ordered on Tuesday and in my hand on Thursday. Love this company

by:

I recently purchased a 2015 Tahoe and since the trailer hitch is positioned above the bumper as opposed to my 2000 Tahoe which has the hitch located below the bumper, I had to find and purchase a new receiver. I found this product at etrailer and it fits perfectly. It is compatible with the Drawtite weight distribution ball.

I needed a weight distribution system and quickly realized that Curt was the best around. You get what you pay for so why not get the best!? Very simple to install and with the correct routine maintenance this will last forever, Shipping was fast and box was In good shape when it arrived.

by:

Needed a new shank as I bought the Class 5 hitch for my dodge,, I bought the class 5 that fit under the stock hitch and wish I had not, but after thought etc,, should have just removed the class 3 and bought a different 5,., all in all worked out but a new shank because my hitch was now lower than what it was, I probably didnt need a new one because after all the measuring etc,, ( Have to go to a parking lot as I live in dirt) to make it level, worked out fine.

Still working fine.

by:

After getting a new truck that sets a little higher I thought I would have to buy a complete new weight distribution hitch. I was able to find just the shank part at etrailer.

by:

The shank was not in stock when I ordered it and I was concerned it wouldn't come in time for my camping trip. I sent an email asking about the delivery date and I received a response the same day letting me know when it would be received from the manufacturer and shipped to me. I did receive it exactly when they said and also got an email letting me know when it shipped. It was a pleasure dealing with etrailer!!

Its a shank, what can I say. It was exactly what I needed and its still towing my trailer perfectly.

by:

I ordered this item to help raise the hitch ball about four inches on my 2006 GMC Sierra 1500. The truck sits low normally and my attempt to tow a 4700 LB. trailer only made the back end lower. I was 6 inches too low from being level to tow. To compensate, I installed a Firestone Air lift system to level out the truck bed, giving me 4" of height at 50 psi plus reversing the shank and adjusting the ball height two more inches corrected the problem!
The combination of the two items now gives me a level tow! I recommend both products for any similar mismatches between truck and trailer.

by:

We bought a new truck, with a taller stance, and had to reconfigure the load-leveler hitch to accommodate the difference. A little bit of simple math, and this is the part we needed. Assembly is a snap. It fits the new receiver and the existing ball head like it was made for them. (It might have been, lol)
Shipping was quick. It actually arrived before I was expecting it to. I expected I would have to wait a couple of days longer than I did.
Thanks Etrailer, for an excellent buying experience.

by:

Solid design. Worked out great with my new Titan XD. My new truck sits higher than my old 04 Silverado Z71. The old shank that came with the weight distribution hitch just wasn't long enough. I needed an additional 4" drop. This shank is solid like the original and gives me up to 6.5" additional drop.

Shipping was fast. About 4 days.

I am a repeat customer and will shop here again.

by:

etrailer customer service is outstanding. I needed a long drop down receiver for my lifted truck and Meghan L talked with me on the phone for about 45 minutes. We did measurements and looked for a while to make my trailer ride level. Meghan was very helpful and the product has been top quality. Thank you for all your help.

The shank you choose would depend on the difference between the height of the trailer coupler and the height of the towing vehicle receiver. Park the trailer and the towing vehicle on level pavement. You then need to measure the distance form the top of the receiver opening to the ground. Then measure the distance from the bottom of the trailer coupler to the ground. If the towing vehicle receiver height is greater, you a ball mount with a drop. • Shank Recommendation for a Curt Weight Distribution System to Allow for Additional Drop
You want to set the ball height adjustment so that the trailer is being towed as level as possible. Sometimes with weight distribution systems the included shank does not provide enough drop to allow this so then you would need to get a shank that allows for more drop. The part # C17123 will provide you with the additional drop you would need. I attached a picture with dimensions on it for you to check out as well.

  • Bottom of C17123 Shank is Only 4 to 5 Inches Off of Ground
Any weight distribution shank, including the Curt Welded Weight Distribution Shank 7" - 10 Hole Adjustment # C17123, being only 4 to 5 inches off the ground is possibly concerning when going over steeper inclines such as up a driveway or a speedbump. That said, if it was the only way to ensure you have a level trailer, you should just be careful going over those inclines, take it slowly or possibly avoid them if you can.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Drop Shank To Tow Trailer Level
To achieve the necessary drop with your weight distribution system in order to tow your trailer level, I recommend switching to a different weight distribution shank such as the Curt Welded # C17123. This shank has a maximum drop of 8-1/2 inches with round bar systems and 8-1/4 inches with trunnion bar systems. This will work with your weight distribution system as long as it uses shank holes with a 3/4 inch diameter. The measurement between the adjustment holes is 1-1/4 inches on center....

  • Weight Distribution Shank Recommendation for Needing Up to 6-1/4 inch Drop
The great thing about weight distribution shanks is that basically all manufacturers make them to the same spec so they are interchangeable with other brands. The best option we have that would cover the range you need is the Curt weight distribution shank part # C17123 which can do a drop up to 8-1/4 inch and since it has holes all along the vertical portion of the shank you can basically do anything between that and zero drop. • Can a Curt Weight Distribution Shank be Used with a Blue Ox Weight Distribution Head
If your Blue Ox head bolts on using 3/4 inch diameter bolts that are spaced 1-1/4 inches apart on center then you could use a different shank such as Curt shank # C17123 which has a maximum drop of 8-1/4 inches. Nearly all brands of weight distribution systems use the same dimensions for the shanks so it is not uncommon to use a Curt shank with a different brand head as long as the holes match up.

  • What Part of Weight Distribution System Can be Swapped Between Brands
Some parts of weight distribution systems can be interchangeable between brands, but not heads and spring bars. We have no parts for Quality S products. These will be brand-specific and can even be product line-specific too, working with only one particular style of system from a given maker. Shanks like # C17123 all use standardized hole size and spacing so this particular item in a WD setup if perfectly fine to swap to another brand if needed.

  • Drop Shank for Weight Distribution for 2003 Ford F-250 with 4 inch Lift
For what you have the Curt shank part # C17123 is going to be your best option. It can do a drop of up to 8-1/4 inches and has a 10 hole adjustment range. To determine the rise/drop you'd need you'd need to measure your coupler from bottom lip to ground on trailer when level and then from top of the hitch opening to the ground. The difference there is the drop you'd need. This shank fits all of the standard weight distribution shanks as well.
