Ball Mount Recommendation for a 2014 Audi Q5 with Factory Trailer Hitch
Question:
I am buying a 2014 Audi Q5 with and OEM trailer hitch receiver. Audi does not provide a ball mount. I am not sure whether a straight or curved mount is needed. My Kendon motorcycle trailer uses a 2inch ball and the straight ball mount on my outgoing Toyota RAV4 works perfectly. Once I know the proper ball mount for the Q5 I will buy a new one. Even if I could reuse the existing ball mount it is too old! rusty and beat up for a shiny new Audi.

I prefer the S8 myself. On your 2014 Audi Q5 it is likely going to come with a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. This means that it is a Class III or IV trailer hitch and you can use any ball mount you want. You will want one that has the proper rise or drop needed to tow the trailer level. I have included a link to our help article that shows how to measure to get a ball mount with the right rise or drop. I have also included a link to our fixed ball mount main page.
Another option is to go with an adjustable ball mount such as # TK5007. This will allow you some adjustability since it has up to an 8 inch possible rise or 10 inch drop. This ball mount takes a ball with a 1 inch diameter shank such as # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.
