Well this install on my '05 Outback Wagon was more challenging than the last one I did on my '05 Baja but all's well that ends well. Haven't done the wiring yet because the hardware install took all day but confidence is high. These guys make a quality product!

by:

Excellent quality and construction.

Matches
perfectly with my Curt hitch.

Highly recommend.

Also, etrailer has the best customer service of any online retailer I've ever shopped at.

This receiver is the closest size to a straight 1 1/4" receiver I could find. Works very well with our trailer. Shipping was very fast. Arrived six days earlier than expected.

by:

Perfect fit. The exhaust rattled after the initial installation but I solved the issue with a piece of rubber. All in all an excellent purchase.

Not only were the products correct, they were delivered on time, and the service and help by George was excellent. I will order again and recommend to others etrailer

  • How Long is the Curt Class II Ball Mount D-55003/45503
Curt ball mount # C45503 measures approximately 7-3/4 to 7-13/16 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the welded-on ball platform it is approximately 2-1/2 inches. I have included a picture that should help as well.

  • How Thick is the Ball Platform on Curt #45503
The platform where a ball would install on the # C45503 is 1/2 inch. There can be slight variations due to the powder coat finish, but only slightly. The shank on the # C45503 is a completely solid 1 1/4 inch milled bar, but again, there can be very slight variations due to the powder coat.

  • Trailer Hitch for Towing Small Trailer with 1991 Toyota Camry
We have a trailer hitch fit for your 1991 Toyota Camry, the Curt hitch part # C11223. But it has a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs so it would not be able to carry a wheelchair that weighs 300 lbs unless you went with a small trailer instead of a carrier. We do have small utility trailers like the part # K2MMT4X6 which would work. For a ball mount you'd need the part # C45503, for a 2 inch hitch ball part # A-82, and then for trailer wiring part # C59236.

  • Installation of Draw-Tite Class II # 36538 Receiver Hitch on 2014 Cadillac XTS
The Draw-Tite Class II hitch, part # 36538 does indeed make use of existing holes, but the hole used for the forward-most attachment point will need to be enlarged with a 1/2 inch drill bit. The exhaust does not need to be dropped, but one of the exhaust hanger bolts is replaced with a longer bolt. If you will be towing with your XTS, I would recommend a ball mount like # C45503. You will also need a hitch ball like # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # 19258 for a 2 inch ball. To complete...

  • Hitch Pin Recommendation for a Curt Ball Mount C45503
I checked your order notes and it looks like you ordered the Curt Ball Mount part # C45503 and the hitch ball part # A-82. For a standard hitch pin and clip you would want the part # F-4 or for one that would lock and give you a bit more security you would want the locking hitch pin part # e98879 which is designed for 1-1/4 inch hitches. I attached a review video for this lock for you to check out as well.

The only hitche available for the 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander is the Class II trailer hitches # C12293. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. There is no drilling required to install this trailer hitch and it is estimated to take about 30 minutes to install for an average mechanic. The hitch is designed to work with a draw bar like the # C45503 and for a 2 inch diameter ball, you can use # 19258. For a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball you would need # 19256. For trailer...

  • What is the Correct Ball Mount for Curt Trailer Hitch C11227 on a 1994 Toyota Celica ST
This is actually a lot easier to determine than you might think. With any Class I or II trailer hitch you will need to use the ball mount recommended in the hitch instructions. The use of any other ball mount can result in voiding the hitch warranty. The reason is that on Class I and II hitches the ball mount recommended has been tested for and approved for use as the best option for those hitch and vehicle combinations. For trailer hitch # C11227 the recommended ball mount is # C45503....

  • Hitch Recommendation for Transporting Dirt Bike with a 1997 Acura TL
The only hitches available for your 1997 Acura TL are Class I hitches with lower capacities. There are no motorcycle carriers that we offer that will fit a Class I 1-1/4 inch hitch. Your best option for using your TL as a tow vehicle is going to be to find a lightweight trailer for transporting the dirt bike. The hitch part # C11155 would be the correct hitch to use. For trailer wiring you would then want the part # 118336, for a ball mount # C45503, 2 inch ball # A-82, and 1-7/8 inch...

The Curt Class II # C12038 hitch has a shipping weight of 31 lbs. Minus the shipping packaging, the hitch will weigh in at about 27 lbs. If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll also need a wiring harness like # 118461, a ball mount like # C45503, a # PC2 hitch pin and either an # A-80 for a 1-7/8 inch trailer ball or # A-82 for a 2 inch ball. • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 1992 Mercedes 400E
There is a special circumstance when using a Class I trailer hitch for towing. Basically you will have to use the ball mount specified by the hitch manufacturer or it can void the warranty. This is to ensure that the wrong ball mount is not used (which could be too much stress on a Class I hitch). Trailer hitch C11085 does not fit your 1992 Mercedes 400E. The hitch you need is # C11816. The recommended ball mount for this hitch is # C45503. For a compatible 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for 2004 Subaru Forester
Best option would be the trailer hitch part # C12038 which is a fit for your 2004 Subaru Forester, but you'd need to verify that your vehicle has the capacity for the pontoon boat. The hitch by itself has a 3,500 lbs capacity. For trailer wiring you'd need the part # C55370 which is a confirmed fit. For a ball mount part # C45503 and then hitch balls # A-82 for a 2 inch ball or part # A-80 for 1-7/8 inch ball.

  • Trailer Hitch Fit for 1997 Subaru Forester
Subaru began manufacturing the Forester in 1997 as a 1998 model. Curt doesn't list the # C11497 Class I hitch as a fit for your Subaru Forester, nor have they (or we) tested the fit, so I couldn't speak to the fit. I'd recommend using a confirmed fit for your Forester, like the Curt Class II hitch, part # C12038. If you'll be towing with the hitch you'll also need a trailer wiring harness like # 118461, a ball mount like # C45503, a hitch pin like # PC2 and a trailer ball like # 19256...

  • Recommended Hitch Receiver For 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander To Tow A UTV
For your 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander, I recommend the Curt Class II Receiver Hitch, # C12293. This hitch receiver has a 3500 lb towing weight and a 300 lb tongue weight which is the highest tongue weight available for your vehicle. The tongue weight is the amount of weight that the trailer coupler puts on the ball of your hitch. Typically this is 10-15% of the total towing weight of the trailer. I've attached an article that outlines how to determine trailer tongue weight. This hitch...

You are correct. The highest tongue weight capacity of a trailer hitch for the 2001 Subaru Forester is 350 pounds for hitch # C12038. The combined weight of the carrier and the bike would have to be under 350 pounds. The best option and the safest is to use a small trailer or one specifically designed for a motorcycle. I can help you figure out which hitch and bike rack you will need to support your 4-bike capacity on your 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander. You are correct, a Class I hitch is only capable of supporting the weight of 2 bikes, even if the bike rack is a 4-bike because your limited by your lowest rated capacity which would be your hitch.
