Videos show the installation performed with a hydraulic lift. Can it really be done without hoisting the car on a lift? If not, where do you recommend the hitch be installed?2011 Nissan Rogue

The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4" # 36542 can be installed without a lift using some basic car ramps or jack stands. It will be a little more confining but it can and has been done. If you don't want to do the work yourself, you can have any local mechanic you trust do the install for you. If you will be using this hitch for multiple accessories, I recommend getting the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75902 which will install the same way, but have the 2 inch receiver opening compatible with more accessories and able to handle more weight, but you will still be restricted to the weight capacities of your vehicle.
If you will be using this hitch for towing, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118480 for your trailer wiring. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Nissan Rogue's wiring harness, which is located inside your trunk, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove some interior trim or carpeting to access the harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
For a ball mount compatible with the 1-1/4 inch hitch, I recommend the Curt Class II Drawbar - 3/8" Rise, 1" Drop - 7-13/16" Long - 3,500 lbs # C45503 along with a 1-7/8 inch ball like # A-80 or a 2 inch ball like # A-82. For a pin and clip, I recommend the Curt Class I and II Pin and Clip - 1/2" Diameter # F-4.
For a ball mount compatible with a 2 inch hitch, I recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 7,500 lbs # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
