I tried twice to get this hitch and ball from [online vendor]. Twice the shipment was lost and I had to get a refund. Shipment from etrailer is right the first time and arrived quickly. Plus, since the ball is already torqued on the ball mount, I don't need to by a large socket.

Still working well at 1 year.

by:

We’ve already installed it and hitched up the horse trailer. Works great for my needs. Half the weight of the much heavier weight distribution system we had been using (and will continue to use for Interstate travel). Hook up was fast and easy.

by:

Everything, when I need something for my truck I always turn to etrailer. They make it so easy to get the product you are looking for. The quality of their product and the Customer service are the BEST! Thank you.

by:

I truly appreciate the quick turn around time of my order, in addition to the professional/nice email that was sent to me...this goes a long ways! Thank you!

by:

This is a gift for my son who has talked about wanting to get a high quality forged hitch to safely trailer cars. I'm going to wrap it and put it under the tree. Am anxious to see him open it!
The folks at etrailer helped me get the right one for him...Thanks guys!

by:

Very impressed with this receiver and hitch ball. Heavy duty, (forged) and the ball was already torqued on for me, which if you read the other reviews the [spec] torque setting is difficult to set. I am anxious to try it out.

Solid construction, I have used it to tow my 6500 lbs. boat.

by:

Excellent construction. very solid. use this to haul a flat bed car hauler trailer and ti works great. Much more solid then the fabricated type "holders" that i have had in the past. You can see why its rated at so much more capacity. While some folks like to try their luck with 5k holders i don't like to so much, this one is rated where I tow. the pin is excellent also and the little rubber coating on the pin and hair pin is welcome.

by:

They really mean heavy duty!!! Nice looking, well built, and heavy. Arrived without pin and clip and etrailer sent a substitute; the one that came with the ball mount was not available. The replacement pin is a PC3; I would be absolutely terrified to use this pin because the clip can easily fall off.

by:

The staff at etrailer made my buying experience nothing short unforgettable...they are prompt on receiving your order and processing it in a timely fashion. In my case I was confused on what it was I exactly needed; they emailed me a number of options that would accommodate my needs with budget and price range in mind. This is the second time I have purchased from etrailer and they made me feel like family; they can count on me being a long term customer from here on out! And last but not least the product speaks for itself. Towing a trailer from state to state can make you a sceptic of your equipments endurance and toughness; I know my hitch and components are one less thing I need to worry about...

by:

Heavy duty and put it to use. Great bal l.

by:

Great buy on a great product!

by:

Both the hitch bar and ball are of excellent quality, I have used Curt for other hitch items because I believe they are quality parts. In the description of the hitch bar it states NO RISE, however on the hitch bar capacities tag it states 1" rise. This may be something you want to change in the description because it could make a difference rather a customer buys or not.

by:

The ball and hitch has work out very well. I use it on my 3/4 ton truck which I pull a dump trailer, I can haul 4 1/2 ton of rock. I have not experience any problems.

by:

Quality equipment & fast delivery.

by:

This hitch is extra super heavy duty!!! The receiver shaft is literally SOLID steel and weighs so much more than any other ball mount I've owned, because they've all been hollow. I can believe it is rated to tow 17,000lbs with the 2-5/16" ball!!

by:

This is by far the best hitch ball I have ever had. The cheapo ones I got at other places literally bent after only a little while with my mobile grooming trailer. This one hasn’t budged and I have been using them for a year!

by:

The trailer that I purchased has a high hitch, so I needed heavy duty tich to pull the trailer, this hitch is more than adequate to do the the job. Very happy with the purchase.

by:

So far, so good. I have a 2016 F-150 that I use to pull my 2 horse, stock trailer. This hitch is very well made. I feel very safe using this to pull my mules.

by:

I ordered the wrong ball mount the day before Christmas. I waited until the day after Christmas to try to change my order. To my surprise my order was easily straitened out and three days later I got the correct ball mount. I would order more trailer accesseries from etrailer again.

by:

by:

One of the best ball mounts I have ever used and I have a shelf full. Very good quality and fit. Feel very safe using this ball mount.

by:

I was looking for a heavy duty ball mount for use in pulling my bumper pull cattle trailer. The mount kit I found on your website was just what I wanted, in stock and the price was reasonable. It fit my truck and the height was perfect.

by:

This was an excellent buy and super heavy duty hitch. Works fine for towing my 9000 lb boat with my Suburban.

by:

Ordered on Saturday and got it the following Thursday. Extremely high quality hitches as well as the S/S keyed hitch receiver holding pins. Couldn't ask for any better products or service.
Thanks

by:

Not the first thing I've bought from etrailer, so this review is due. Another quality product. Wasn't sure about stinger dimensions (+1 or -2 from where to where) so called: OMG, someone answered; without wasting minutes on hold or listening to info I didn't need! And she knew the answer! Will think of etrailer first for future trailering needs.

  • Can Towing Capacity Of A Truck Be Increased By Using Different Ball Mount
The Curt Solid Steel 2" Hitch Bar with Raw Finish - 10" Long # D29 you were looking at is meant to give you a starting point to make you own hitch accessory for a 2" trailer hitch receiver. For towing you would need a ball mount with a hitch ball like the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount with 2-5/16" Ball # C45331 which has a 15000lb towing capacity, but keep in mind that you will be limited to the lowest rated component which could be the ball mount, the trailer hitch receiver, or the...

  • Ball Mount for 2 inch Hitch that has 2 inch Drop and 15k Total Weight Capacity
Ball mounts with 1 inch diameter ball holes will have lower capacities like the Convert-A-Ball part # AMSC2 which has a 1-inch ball hole size but only has a capacity of 10,000 lb. Only similar ball mount we have is the Curt Heavy Duty ball mount part # C45331 which as the same 2 inch drop like you need and a capacity of 15,000 lbs. It comes with a hitch ball mounted to it already which measures 2-5/16 inch. This would be your best option.

  • How Much Does the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount with 2-5/16" Ball - 1" Rise Weigh
The Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount part # C45331 is purposely overbuilt with more material than normal which is how it is able to obtain higher than normal capacities. The side effect of this is that the ball mount will weigh more than others and this one comes in at around 15-16 lbs.

  • Comparing B&W Heavy-Duty Ball Mount to Curt Heavy Duty Ball Mount
The BandW Heavy-Duty Ball Mount - 1 Rise, 2 - 8-1/2 Long - 16,000 lbs # BWBMHD30010 is very similar tot he Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount with 2-5/16" Ball - 1" Rise, 2" Drop - 15,000 lbs # C45331 which has the same hitch ball shank dimension of 1-1/4 inches as well as the same rise and drop. Another benefit is the hitch ball is already installed and torqued to spec. Both are quality ball mounts with the B&W having a slightly higher rated capacity. Stock levels change constantly...

  • Can the Ball Mount # C45340 be Ordered with the Curt Hitch Ball # C40008 Already Installed
I do have a solution for you, but we do not install parts like the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount # C45340 and 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40008 before shipping them out. Any ball mounts that come with a hitch ball installed come like that directly from the manufacturer. If you do not need the full 17,000 lb capacity of the ball mount # C45340 that you referenced then you can use the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount # C45331 which is essentially the same exact ball mount with a 2-5/16" hitch...

  • Trailer Hitch with Higher Capacity than Factory Hitch on a 2018 Ford F-150
With your existing hitch on your 2018 Ford F-150 the maximum weight you can tow, even when using weight distribution, is that 9,100 pounds you quoted. If you were to install an aftermarket one such as # C14016 then you would still be limited to 9,100 pounds but would not have to use weight distribution to reach that capacity. So what it comes down to is whether or not you want to use weight distribution. Since you have 2 trailers you may not want to move the system back and forth between...

In order to use the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount part # C45331 with a friction sway control device you'd need to have a sway control tab welded to the side of the platform such as the Weld-On Sway Control Tab part # C45822. • Ball Mount Recommendation for Towing Coachmen RV
You'd need a drop of right at 1 inch to tow the trailer you mentioned level based on the dimensions you listed. The closest to that is a 2 inch drop ball mount like the part # C45331 which fits a 2 inch hitch like you have as well. It has a towing capacity of 15,000 lbs and comes with a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball as well. This comes with a pin and clip as well. Since there isn't a 1 inch drop ball mount and this is very close it will work well.

  • Solution for Needing Curt Ball Mount and Hitch Ball in 1 inch Drop Position Over 1 inch Rise
Since we do not have a version of the # C45331 with the setup in the rise position instead of the drop position your best option would be to remove the ball and reinstall it in the rise position or go with the part # C45340 and # C40008 which you could then attach to the ball mount in the rise position. The demand for ball mounts in the drop position is much more than in the rise position as tow vehicles generally are getting taller and taller while trailers mainly are staying same height....

For a locking hitch pin to secure your Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount # C45331 to your trailer hitch, I recommend the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98882. This is a great stainless steel lock designed for 2 inch trailer hitches. It features a pick-proof screw-and-lock design that will prevent theft of your ball mount or other hitch-mounted accessory. Keep in mind that this will work with 2 inch trailer hitches that have an outside width of up to 2-5/8 inches. If your trailer hitch...

  • Does Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount Have a Solid Shank
The Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount # C45331 is a solid steel shank. However, the # C45042 is not solid. If you have a 2" receiver tube opening then the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount part # C45331 will work just fine. • Recommended Ball Mount With 1-1/2" Drop for 2002 Chevy Avalanche
I'm assuming the 17-1/2" measurement is to the top of the receiver opening on your 2002 Chevy Avalanche. And that the 16" measurement is to the bottom of your coupler while your trailer is level. If that is the case, you need a ball mount with a 1-1/2" drop. Since there isn't one available with this exact measurement, we will go with the closest thing which is a 2" drop.
