Recommended Ball Mount With 1-1/2" Drop for 2002 Chevy Avalanche
Question:
I need to know what ball hitch I need on my avalanche. My trailer is 16 inches and my avalanche is 17 1/2. Ball size is 2 5/16 and my cargo trailer is 7000 lbs GTW. Thanks

I'm assuming the 17-1/2" measurement is to the top of the receiver opening on your 2002 Chevy Avalanche. And that the 16" measurement is to the bottom of your coupler while your trailer is level. If that is the case, you need a ball mount with a 1-1/2" drop.
Since there isn't one available with this exact measurement, we will go with the closest thing which is a 2" drop. The 1/2" difference really won't make a difference. If you're sure you won't be over 7,000 lbs then the # C45041 with a 7,500 lb gross towing weight will meet all of your requirements.
If you think you might be pushing that weight then I would go ahead and get the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount # C45331. This ball mount has a gross towing weight of 15,000 lbs. If you're like me, I would go with higher capacity that way I have it if I need it in the future.
