Can Curt Forged Ball Mount Be Flipped For More Height When Towing Car Trailer
Question:
2009 Ford F150 4x4 with tow package. I tow a 3200lb gvw car trailer and the nose sits slightly below level when hooked up to this Curt product. Is it acceptable to reverse the drawbar so the rise is up instead of down?

I called my contact at Curt and they told me that you can use the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount, part # C45331 flipped over if you wish but you will probably have a heck of a time removing the ball. They said the ball is machine-torqued at 450 ft-lbs when it is attached to the drawbar.
An option that may be easier on you would be to use a different ball mount and ball. The ball mount I recommend is part # BWBMHD30010. This ball mount has a 1 inch rise or 2 inch drop and a weight capacity of 16,000 lbs. The 2-5/16 inch hitch ball I recommend for this mount is part # 63840.
I have attached a link to a helpful article that explains how to measure for a ball mount you can check out. I also attached a link to our product page for ball mounts that have a capacity of 16,000 lbs.
