The door latch is well made and works as intended.

by:

The initial part I received was broken. I sent an email expressing concern and just received a generic response. It appears that my 1st email went to the wrong address. I received a follow up email and etrailer sent a replacement with no questions asked.
I replaced an existing door keeper and this one matched the holes perfectly. I don't know if it is alignment or the angle of the door but sometimes the hook does not want to drop right into the keeper.
The part works and I did get great support from etrailer once I got to the right person.

by:

Holds door open during loading. Just what I wanted. Extra bonus, the moving part of the latch is spring loaded wo it stays flat when not in use and it does not rattle, or get in the way.

by:

Excellent product. Quick delivery. Outstanding tracking site. I have a V-nose trailer so I had to do a simple modification to the hook in order to mount the latch to the trailer. Rivets were used to secure the hardware to the trailer. Excellent product and service.

by:

item was a perfect replacement for the original plastic one on my horse trailer.

by:

Perfect fit to replace my rusted 12 year old door hold. I had to bend the arm to match the bend in my OEM parts.

by:

It was exactly the part I needed for my trailer. I didn’t need to drill new holes It fit perfectly. It was delivered in a timely fashion. Thanks etrailer. You are my go to every time.

by:

The service was great, quick shipping and good communication. The hook and keeper are exactly what I was looking for.

by:

Purchased as a replacement part. Very pleased with the quick delivery. Back in business

by:

Great product. Great company...used it to hold outswinging shed door to 2x2 post..works great !!!

After a year, its holding up perfect...totally negates the disadvantages of a outswinging door....

by:

Received the trailer door hooks & keepers. Everything went on without a hitch. My entrance door and escape door will now stay open. The latches are built well and should last a long time. I placed clear stone guard under the hook so it will not mark the trailer sides while traveling down the road.

Bob S.

They work great. Have not had any problems.

by:

Good and sturdy as I was hoping it would be. I painted it white to match siding on trailer where I installed it to make it more appealing. It replaced a plastic OEM type that cracked too easily. Yep it did what I wanted it to do.

Joe

5/31/2020

still doing its job.

by:

Used product on cargo side door used 3M tape to attached bracket with arm to trailer, the other to door...works very well.

Bill K.

6/16/2020

there is nothing to go wrong with bracket,,,love it

by:

This door stop really does the trick, good heavy duty metal construction. Replaces the cheap plastic one that was on the trailer in the first place. Would buy from again!

Great! Holds strong, very durable

by:

These door latches are much more substantial than the cheap plastic variety that came as standard equipment on my Utility Trailer.

Now that a year has passed, the latches are holding-up just as good as the first day I installed them.

This is my first time ordering parts from online and I must say this was a great experience. I have had issues getting parts from other businesses in the past when picking up parts in person. So to have this run so smoothly is quite nice. The site was easy to navigate even for someone that is still new to computers. Everything is very well described and has photo's of the parts if there is a question. The cost for both parts I ordered were very nice I thought and then to top it off they showed up right on time like they claimed they would. The quality of the parts is top of the line and after this experience I can say for sure I will be coming back for any of the parts I need in the future. Thank you very much

Chris G.

12/31/2016

the parts I ordered are still holding up and in working order. Very pleased with service and purchase still. i just havent had anything else brake lately to replace.

by:

These door keepers are exactly what I ordered. They are cad plated and I expect them to last a long time. The hole pattern matches the old crazed plastic ones, so that will save me some time.

Eric C.

10/25/2020

So far, they are working out just fine. I wish that you offered a little longer version though.

by:

Super fast delivery! Excellent item (RV door catch)
Made of steel & very strong compared to the original plastic one that most RVs come with. Easy to install & looks NICE!

Heather G.

Still working great a year later!

by:

Bought this to replace the original one that fell apart on my 24' Haulmark car hauler. This one is better built and has a little bit larger mounting bracket on the arm mount side, which also allowed me to anchor it better. The receiver end of my old one was still mounted on the door so I reused that part. Don't think this one will fall apart anytime soon.

by:

I was looking for a product to keep the side door open, while I am loading-unloading my enclosed trailer. It perfectly meets my need on a very reasonable price. The only additional work I had with it to make it fit perfectly was to bend the latch , so it moves easily in the lock. I can definitely recommend this product.

by:

I put this door hook and keeper on my horse trailer that has one heavy rear door in hopes that it would hold it open in the breezy conditions here. Unfortunately, the first time I tried it out, the wind took the trailer door and blew it completely open, crushing the keeper. I tried to pry it out with a screwdriver but it's pretty much unusable. It would probably work with a lighter, smaller door.

by:

Rated good because, it looks to be cheaper then the stock one one my older trailer, and sad to say its made in China, had I knew that I would not have got it.

Steve B.

10/17/2016

Dont use trailer much, its holding up just wish we would make this stuff in the USA

by:

I replaced the plastic items that were OE on my race trailer with these. These are sturdy and work very well. I would recommend.

Tom M.

The door latches are still working great. They have had some rough treatment with no issues.

by:

I bought two double wheel covers and they went right on without a fight.
I bought a couple of baggage door catches as the old were sun beaten and cracked. they went on using the same screw holes, perfect match. I bought a steel version of the old plastic hook and keeper door catch, which the sun had rotted. the bolt holes lined up tighter then the old holes which were stripped. The screws are not stripped now. I bought the Camco cam lock to replace the missing one on my heater door. It works like brand new. I haven't mounted the door lock yet.

by:

thanks for the follow-up. kind of drug my feet but finally got my door bar lock and latch installed everything worked well. When the needs arise, I will be ordering from you again...

  • Installing Trailer Door Hook and Keeper # 383400
You will usually see the hook portion mounted on the trailer door, with the keeper connected to the side of the trailer, but there is no reason why you could not install it the other way, if you wish. Just to be certain, I checked with the manufacturer who told me the same thing.

  • What Position Should the Hook and Keeper for Enclosed Trailer Doors Be Mounted In
Correct, the mounting holes on the Hook and Keeper for Enclosed Trailer Doors part # 383400 are 2-5/16" apart top to bottom (vertically) and 1" apart left to right (horizontally). The actual plate measures to be 3" tall x 1-3/4" wide. Therefore, it is taller than it is wider. I have attached a few photos to clarify the above.

  • Solution to Hold Swinging Trailer Doors Open
What we have is a Hook and Keepr # PLR9-SS in stainless steel, # PLR9-A in aluminum, and # 383400 zinc plated. These are used to hold trailer doors open similarly to how you are using a hook and chain. One piece is conneted to the side of the trailer and the other is connected to the door. The hook slides inside of the keeper when open to hold the door in place.

  • Trailer Door Holder that Wont Accidently Release the Door
I do not have a way to test how much force it takes to pull the rubber stem from the socket # DH39R (no force gauge available) but having used this type of door keep before I can tell you that it usually takes a good jerk to free it up. When you want to be positive that the door is going to stay open I recommend using a hook and keeper such as # 383400. I have linked a video review for you.

  • Recommended Strap Hinges For 4 x 8 Foot Doors for Enclosed Trailer
What you're planning sounds like it would work, but you'll need to be sure you have some cross members in the door where each hinge mounts. Since the doors are large and are likely pretty heavy, I'd use the biggest hinges you can. If you were wanting the hinge to swing all the way up against the side of the trailer, I'd recommend using # 2212. A hook and keeper, part # 383400 would hold the door open for you as you load/unload. If you only need the door to swing 180 degrees, use # 2512....

I went out to the warehouse and pulled Enclosed Trailer Door Hook and Keeper # 383400 to measure it. First, the mounting holes are 2-5/16 inches across on center and 1 inch top to bottom on center. The mounting plates for both pieces are 3 inches by 1-3/4 inches. From the center of the hook piece to the end of the hook is 4 inches. The hook piece sticks up 1/2 inch from the mounting surface. The keeper piece sticks up 3/4 inches from the mounting surface. I have also included a picutre...

Regarding the man door and the awning, is there any way that you can attach the plunger style holder, # DH605, to the support are for the awning that is causing the interference? Otherwise, you could use something like the hook and keeper, # 383400. Even though the door on your horse trailer is heavy the door keeper # 383400 will still hold it open. • Can a Horse Trailer Back Door be Left Open or Will it Damage the Hinges
It really depends on how heavy the door is, how far it sticks out from the hinges, and how big the hinges are. You could technically say the same thing about any door that mounts on hinges. So the doors in your house you would not necessarily be closed all the time. But at the same time the distance between the ground and the bottom of the trailer door is greater than that on a door in your house.
