Am I not mistaken that the holes are 2.5/16 vertical and 1 horizontal? The mount goes up and down correct? It’s taller than wider...

Correct, the mounting holes on the Hook and Keeper for Enclosed Trailer Doors part # 383400 are 2-5/16" apart top to bottom (vertically) and 1" apart left to right (horizontally). The actual plate measures to be 3" tall x 1-3/4" wide. Therefore, it is taller than it is wider.
