Steel cam-action door latch is ideal for large, professional-use trailers and similar applications. Bushings and bearings prevent wear on moving parts. Double-action handle protects against in-transit jarring. 1-5/16" Pipe not included.

Great product, just wished it came with instructions. No instructions where ever received, noting on the original manufactures website. So you guess, tack weld, fit into place, and check operation. Took more time than needed due to lack of instructions.
other than the instructions, This product is extreme heavy duty, and will last a lifetime of a trailer. The galvanizing is thick so corrosion is not something that will be an issue during its lifetime.
For my application I preloaded the welded assemblies with a door seal. Where the compression was 1/2 total thickness around the whole door. Works great and due to the length of Turning Arm it is a breeze for even the weakest person.
Another option I would like with this product is an Un-Coated version so it could be painted easier. With my application, I painted over the Galvanizing with the knowledge that the paint will chip off. But hey, a can of Rust-oleum is cheap and application is easy.
Note: these latches only work from the outside of the trailer. If you need to active, deactivate this latch from inside, then this one is not for you application.

Used these latch kits on a couple old dry van trailers that needed new swing doors and they worked great! Unfortunately the lugs and keepers aren't the universal across all dry van trailers, so I had to grind off the old keepers on one of the trailers rather than just being able to reuse them. Would be awesome if you offered options to this kit with different lug variations

- Can Shims be Used to Install Cam-Action Lockable Door Latch Kit so it Sits FlushThe great thing about the Cam-Action Lockable Door Latch Kit # PLR658-002 is that since it's a universal application you can definitely use shims for the cams so that everything is lined up correctly. When it comes to the strength of these, they are designed for large enclosed trailers which means they will definitely be up to the task of holding your doors in place, but they aren't really rated for a specific weight so I'm not sure how they would hold up to a horse leaning up against...

This type of latch does allow the bar to slide a bit up and down in the mounts so there is no need for anything to prevent that.

I have also attached a photo from the manufacturer to show you the locations of the Anti-Rack Ring you requested. They will be located just under the top bearing bracket and just above the bottom bearing bracket. You will weld these rings to the pipe as well as the cams at each end and the handle....

Trying to match the LH and the RH won't be as helpful as mocking everything up and test fitting it before installing it. Basically you'll weld the pipe to the handle and the keepers like you mentioned and then bolt on everything else to the door. There aren't install instructions available for this.
