Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a quick look at the JR Products hook and keeper for enclosed trailer. This is just an easy way to keep your door open so it doesn't swing back closed on you when you're trying to load things in and out of your enclosed trailer. These come in a lot of different shapes and sizes. This one in particular is going to be a six inch long wand, so it'll work out well for those doors that have about a six inch span between the door being open and the side of your enclosed trailer.Whenever you have this mounted up, it should look something like this.
Then as that door opens, the ball and wand here are going to go. Or the little mallet-shaped portion is going to go into that receiver and then drop into place and hold your door there. Whenever it's mounted up, it should look like that.Pretty straightforward install. It does have the hardware to get this in place. We'll have our base, which has the round hole, and then the receiver, which has more of this T-shaped hole.
Then the backing plates. These have a little wedge on them to help encourage that wand to fit down into the slot so that it stays securely in place, so that it doesn't find its way back out. That's the idea there. The, again, hardware is included with this. It's just going to be eight screws for each base piece.
To get the wand in place, you will want to push that through the back of the base here. The ball end is going to get captured by this piece. Push it into place and then mount this up with the backing plate there.As far as the size of each of our pieces, give you some measurements in just a second here. Our bases are going to be pretty much exactly the same. Length wise, about three inches by about one and three quarters.
The distance between our mounting holes, center to center, is about two and three eights inches by about one inch. The height of our receiver is about an inch and an eighth tall, so that's how far it's going to extend out from our wall. If we look at our base, it's going to be about an inch and a quarter, so not too tall. A little bit more on one side than the other. Our wand does extend out six inches, as you can see there. Each of our screws is about an inch long.This is covered by a lifetime warranty from JR Products. Comes in this just polar white color. That's about it for our look at the JR Products hook and keeper for enclosed trailers. Plastic was not strong and broke in four months.
Works just like OEM. Durable and still working great a year later.
Direct replacement for the original. If the dog eats this one again then I'll be buying another.
It was a great replacement. It didn't take long to install. Its been a year and its still functioning properly. I was nervous if someone pulled on the door while the pin was engaged that it would break but its been good so far.

Its still functioning properly.
It broke on the very first time I used it. Figured it was so cheap, didn’t bother returning it. I have since sold the trailer.
Order was received complete. One item was backordered which held up delivery of the entire order by nearly 2 months and unfortunately that item was the most important item that I needed. Other than the time it took to get the order to me etrailer did keep me informed of the anticipated delivery and they sent the order as soon as the out of stock item became available. I would buy from etailer again.
Installed quickly and appeared well made. Clear instructions were included.
