Colin: Hey, everyone, it's Colin here at etrailer. And today, I'm going to take some time to show you guys these JR products: hooks and keepers. Basically what these are going to do for you is you mount them to the sides of your trailer, whether it's your enclosed trailer, or maybe your RV, and this just going to give you a way to prop open your door. So, for example, for loading and unloading this utility trailer, what we can do is open up the door and then put that wand into the keeper. And what that's going to do is keep our door propped open so that when we're loading and unloading our cargo, the door's not going to swing closed while we're trying to go in and out. And these wands are about three inches long, so it's going to keep your door pretty flush against the side of your trailer or your camper. You see we have it in polar white right now. It matches our trailer very nicely, but it is also available in other colors.

I got a black one right here, but it's also available and a colonial white, which is their version of more of a off or cream white. So, whichever one's going to match your application the best, go ahead and pick that up.These are all a very durable plastic construction. They're going to hold up very well. They're going to last a long time, but if you want something more long-term that's going to last much longer than plastic, we do have some steel ones available as well from JR products. They do cost a little bit more, but that's what you're paying for is that longevity.

So, whichever one you're interested in, just check those out here at etrailer. Now on that side door, the wand length really isn't an issue, but over here it probably would be what I was referring to is just having tail lights, license plate, lights, stuff like that mounted to the side of the door. So, just for an example, it's going to open up this door. We already have a hook and keeper installed on it. It's pretty old, but we'll show you what I mean. Now you can see that those lights are getting closer to the trailer, but they don't quite make contact. I can get this wand into the keeper right there.

This is about a four inch wand right here. So, a three and a half inch may not work back here with those lights, so you just want to make sure that you're getting the right length. We do have longer ones available at six inches with the same construction. So, just check those out here on our website. Now there is included hardware with all of these kits. However, because we we're replacing a previous hooking keeper, we just used the existing holes that we're already in our trailer and we needed some bigger diameter of hardware.

So, we just went ahead and grabbed some self-tappers that we're laying around the shop. Either way, you just want to make sure you get this secured. Now there is another option to get a white keeper and hook that includes a spacer. And what this is going to do is basically you just, before you install it, put it over top. And with the included hardware, not the self-tappers that we used instead, but with the included hardware, it would just go right through there. And that's just to help prevent the door from slamming into your wand right here, or in the other case, your keeper, to make sure that it holds up much longer. Now it's a very simple install process. I'll go ahead and walk you through that right now. Now, like I said, install is pretty easy. And we are good. Just going to use the preexisting holes with some bigger self-tapping screws so they can catch on. Don't need to be too tight, just snug. See how it's really on there Now let's get the wand installed. And then just open up your door, test it out, make sure that the wand will catch it and hold it. Holds it just fine. So, now we know we are good to load up our trailer and then hit the road. Well, thank you all for watching and I hope this information helped you out, but that's going to do it for our look at these JR products: hook and keepers..

exact replacement for the one on our Jayco Eagle HT

I would have given this 5 stars except that it does not have a detent position to hold it up out of the way under the overhang on our 5th wheel. Screw hole pattern was a perfect replacement dimension for our 2021 Forest River Riverstone Legacy. I solved the detent issue by cutting 2 pieces of an old gift card and placing them in the well where the t hook is snapped in. This gave it enough friction to stay up flat against the bottom of the overhang. I broke the original because I forgot to push it up to lock it and caught it with the hood on my jacket and broke it off.

  • Picking Out T-Style Door Keeper for Country Coach
Hey George, so I am not sure if you are looking for a specific type of door keeper for your Country Coach but the T-Style part # 37210324 is a really solid option that would work well. The hook side is 3-1/2 inches and it bolts to the door. If you had something else in mind let me know and I'll see what would work best.

We do have a variety of door holders for enclosed trailers and the following are some of the most popular among our linked selection: - T-Style Hook and Keeper # 37210515 - Plastic T-Style Hook and Keeper Door Holder # 37210324 - Longer Plastic T-Style Hook and Keeper # 37210434 - Plunger and Socket # PLR62-66 Designs can vary by trailers and sometimes they might be switched out as some point in time so while I don't know what exactly came on your Haulmark trailer, I'm confident we...

  • Plunger and Rubber Socket Door Holder Vs. T-Style Hook and Keeper Door Holder
I understand your concern with pulling on the doors to release from the holder and possibly damaging the smaller lightweight doors of a teardrop style camper. Perhaps using a hook and keeper type would be a better option, please see link. These come in varying lengths, finishes and type of material. I like the Flat T-Style Hook and Keeper in Stainless Steel, # 37210615. There is also a durable plastic construction available in Polar White, # 37210414 or in black, # 37210324.

  • Can You Use Tape To Attach Bumper Style Door Holders To Glass Entry Doors
Since the bumper on the Low-Profile Bumper Door Holder for RV or Enclosed Trailer # 37210665 is going to pop into the holder and require you to pull the two apart using other means to hold them to your glass door will most likely not be enough to hold it. Instead I recommend using the T-Style Hook and Keeper Door Holder for RV or Enclosed Trailer # 37210324 so you can use some tape like # 344270341411-1, or any other brand you trust. This style door holder won't require you to pull the...
