Today we're going to review part number TK5906. This is the Tekonsha Replacement Mounting Bracket Kit for the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller. This part includes everything shown here on the table. The plastic mounting bracket, the metal mounting bracket, and some mounting hardware screws. This will replace your P3's mounting bracket or you can use this to install a second bracket in another tow vehicle. It makes it easy to transfer your brake controller from one vehicle to the other. This is designed to work with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 proportional brake controller.
I happen to have one here to show you that. We do sell this separately on our website, it's part number 90195. To show you how you would install this, basically your clip would just pop right on into place just like that. This metal mounting bracket would be attached to your vehicle using the mounting hardware. Then you just attach the metal mounting bracket, just like that, to the plastic cradle itself. Then put your screws in there and it allows you to adjust it up or down.

Mounting bracket, cradle, and hardware included.I ordered two, one to replace a broken one and another to give me a second mount in another vehicle. So now I can move the controller between two vehicles in a snap. The brackets arrived in different packaging, one not Mfg packaging, and that one was missing the metal adapter mount. I did not complain since I didn't need it for the broken mount. I noticed these brackets do not use the same threaded plastic tabs and machine screws, but instead use self tapping screws. This might be an improvement but won't know until I use them for 4 years.
Parts arrived as estimated. Fit and performance as described. Easy installation, cable adapter a great time savor.
Literature very informative on final trailer hook ups.
Bought this to put in a second vehicle (1979 International Bucket Truck) so that I had additional braking when pulling my dump trailer even though the truck has enormous braking capability. Installed easily and adds great convenience and accessibility.

No problems, switching my Tekonsha brake unit from one vehicle to another is simply a snap with this bracket. Very satisfied with my purchase and recommend to anyone who has multiple vehicles pulling trailers.
The P3 bracket came quickly and was an easy install. I can now move the brake controller between my SUV and truck.

The bracket has held up well!
It was delivered on time and it is the correct item. Perfect in my opinion.

Excellent controller, luckily they have these replacement bracket kit, the kit can crack if its hit. Not a manufacturer defect, just accidents happen! Glad to have a replacement, makes this controllers even better!
I bought this mounting bracket after I lost the original one for my Tekoshna Prodigy P3 brake controller. This bracket worked perfectly in my Toyota Sequoia and holds the brake controller in easy reach for adjusting the controls.

It is working perfectly!
I didn't get this to replace a broken bracket but to install my Tekonsha Prodigy P3 into another truck. I have more than one truck I tow with so using this mount bracket and the wiring connector (part # 7894) I'm able to move my brake controller to whichever truck I'm using to tow with. The bracket and harness are MUCH cheaper than buying another controller and the bracket is made to be able to quick release the controller. This ability to move the controller from truck to truck is one of the reasons I chose the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller (which is an excellent controller BTW) in the first place.
Seems like a good quality mounting option, I am a bit concerned with the use of self tapping screws to tighten between the metal bracket and the plastic.

Its been a year, and I call I can say about this mount. It just works, no problems experienced.
I have used, and will only ever use e-trailer for my towing parts and accessories.
I purchased and installed a Tekonsha Prodigy 3 for my 2015 Subaru Outback, along with a hidden hitch. The videos were excellent for a step by step novice and his teenage son. We pulled it off without any complications, and it works great.
This is for us to also now have our 2002 Suburban with Electric brakes. They system is so great, and the additional safety is outstanding.
Thank you or the great work you do, what an outstanding company it should be a model for all to follow.
Another great product from etrailer. In fact, I purchased two, one for my 2007 Classic Silverado HD, and one for my 2009 Suburban LT. Now they can share the same Prodigy P3 and I have a back-up tow vehicle. My application was so straight forward, I did not take pictures, but you will find great videos at etrailer.com. Just remember to mount it so your right hand can drop naturally down from the steering wheel and easily quickly find the manual brake lever right by your right knee without every taking your eyes off the road. Be sure to have your A-driver practice manual braking while you steer. It may save your rig!

I needed to be able to move my brake controller between vehicles. For a fraction of the cost of a second controller I was able to easily install a bracket and wiring harness in my second vehicle. etrailer provided good parts, great prices and fast shipping.
Solid fit, very easy to install. Because I was mounting it into a plastic kneeboard under the steering wheel I pre-started the holes for the screws to make it a little easier. I also added some Gorilla Glue to the metal bracket to help solidify the mounting point just to help take a little pressure off the 2 screws.
had to get two because three families are sharing the trailer, this way the brake controller stays with the trailer and everyone can just plug it in to their vehicles and go
Well, this is the OEM bracket, and does everything the original, included with my P3, does. It's what I expected, and got. That said, it is not the most robust design. The bracket which screws to your lower dash is on the small side with only two holes to support it, and the brake controller is a solid little nugget, so two small screws one inch apart into a plastic dash panel is not a whole lot of support for the unit. But, it works. I bought this to be able to use my P3 in a different vehicle. My order was shipped promptly, delivery was timely and unit arrived undamaged.
I ordered a replacement mount for my Tekonsha trailer brake controller. It was delivered on time, and was exactly what was ordered. I have ordered several parts from etrailer, and everything has been the correct part, and always on time.
They almost always have the best price, and are very helpful.
I purchased (2) 5906 tekonsha p3 brake control dash mount kits. By far best price I found everyone else wanted to sell me pieces individually ( which would have cost about double ). Much better being able to buy as a kit a know I'm getting everything I needed. Beats buying another brake control for other tow vehicles. Now every vehicle I have and my brothers truck has a mount so we just simply swap my p3 to whatever truck we are using. Takes all of 30 seconds!
Picked up a wiring harness in an earlier transaction only to find that I had misplaced the bracket for mounting. Both items came fast and were exactly what I needed. I always count on etrailer for parts to the point that I don't even look elsewhere anymore.

Mounting hardware and brackets are holding up well despite the fact that I bump one with my knee quite regularly. Recommend these if you ever need replacement.
