Ordered two curt venturer brake controllers, after calling a local trailer shop that wanted $370-$400 dollars to install them I figured I'd do it myself. After watching videos from etrailer and youtube I installed one in my 2003 Ford Ranger and one in my wife's 2101 Town and Country. Everything was pretty much straight forward, just take your time and follow the video's. Very happy and saved hundred's by doing it myself. Here are some pictures of the two vehicles.

Everything was perfect.

Perfect connector for what I was looking for on my 2019 RAV4. I originally installed it with the L bracket, but later changed it to be flush in the bumper. Looks very clean. The prefab pigtail made install into the car very easy as well.

by:

Easy to install. Copper terminal goes to battery. FYI

by:

Excellent quality and strength. Why skimp on something as important as your hitch? I have purchased three of these Draw Tites - I guess a repeat customer will scream about the true quality a company can garner from repeat customers. When you pull show cars worth six figures, you can't afford a poorly made hitch.
Step up, step out, and don't fret what you are pulling.

Ordered a brake controller and an inline circuit breaker. Very happy with both but not the shipping. I selected the least expensive (my bad) shipping because I didn't need it for a few days. I opted for the UPS/US Mail combination shipping, what ever that is. Product shipped same day as I ordered it (Feb 11th) with an expected delivery date of Feb. 15th. Finally showed up on the 20th. I ordered a hitch earlier and in 2 days I had it. A 49lb hitch vs. a pound (maybe) package. Not etrailers fault...but I can see why the post office is going broke with service like that!

by:

Bought several trailer products for our 2013 Explorer, Tekonsha trailer brake, trailer hitch & wiring materials. Excellent fit on the trailer hitch. Shipping timely & well packaged.

by:

Installed the Hopkins InSight brake controller in a 2015 Wrangler Unlimited. Installation was straightforward with no problems. The biggest plus with this unit is the ability to mount the "brain" out of sight and mount the display and the manual control in separate, convenient locations. Very nice. Also ordered a 20A breaker, extra wire and an extra harness connector (for another vehicle). All items arrived on time and well packaged. etrailer gets a big thumbs up!

by:

Just what the etrailer video showed to add a Tekonsha Primus IQ trailer brake controller to a Chevy Silverado. ( I could have used a bracket as well ). Super fast shipping!

by:

I ordered everything I needed for wiring and towing with my new vehicle. As in the past, etrailer promptly shipped all that I ordered. A very reliable and helpful company to deal with. UPS was a little less than gentle with the package but the driver waited while I determined that nothing had fallen out of the holes in the box.

by:

Works great. You definitely want to use this and not a fuse for a trailer brake controller. If an intermittent short blows a fuse, you will lose your trailer brakes. This circuit brakes auto resets so your trailer brakes won't be lost.

by:

I HAVE PURCHASED SEVERAL ITEMS FROM E TRAILER . FROM TRAILER PARTS TO REBUILD A CONSTRUCTION TRAILER TO PARTS FROM MY FIFTH WHEEL CAMPER . THE QUALITY OF THEIR PARTS HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE BEST .

by:

Easy to install (two screws to mount it and two nuts for the wire connectors), well labeled for which wire goes where, and works well. Much nice than a fuse, and essential when protecting a trailer brake circuit!

by:

With the good instructions the cb works good .

by:

Perfect little circuit breaker for 12 volt supply to trailer fridge!

by:

Works great. No problems

by:

Needed for my installation. etrailer staff was very helpful in helping me order all the pieces that I needed.

by:

Met my expectations, good installation instructions and performed well throughout the summer and fall of 2017.

by:

Little details make the differenc!I bought this product for future (1 month) installation in an used van that I purchased. I received the product in a fantastically short period of time. I am very impressed with the quality of the workmanship and materials.

by:

Great service, and research given with the representative to order the correct parts needed. I am a returning customer for this reason and will again in the future.

by:

I used this to replace a rusted out circuit breaker in my 78 MGB. Looks almost exactly like the unit it replaced.

by:

Didn't need the post, fuse box on the truck already had them. Everything else worked fine.

by:

Easy installation and works as expected

by:

your speedy delivery service and profesional service is valued to us smal people wil be doing feature bisness thks

  • Using Inline Fuse or # 9506P 20 Amp Breaker To Install Brake Controller On 2014 Grand Caravan
You can indeed use an inline fuse holder, but the # 16167-1 fuse holder you mention is meant for 14-16 gauge. If you can find an inline fuse holder that uses 10 gauge wire, that would be fine. The # 9506P circuit breaker does not need to be fastened to the sheet metal using screws, as no ground is needed. You could use zip ties or even double sided tape, if needed. I've linked you to install details as well as an install video showing a brake controller being installed on a Grand Caravan...

  • Does Circuit Breaker # 9506P Have to Install in a Certain Direction
Circuit breakers can have current run through them in either direction. The # 9506P just needs be wired between the battery and the 12 volt power circuit of your brake controller. The basically you would run from the black wire on your controller to the breaker and then to the battery post.

  • Can a 20 Amp In-Line Circuit Breaker be Installed Under the Dash of a 2002 Mazda Protege
Yes, you can install the in-line 20 amp circuit breaker, # 9506P, pretty much anywhere on any vehicle including your 2002 Mazda Protege and including under the dash. I have included a link to a video that, in part, shows this circuit breaker being installed.

  • Amperage of Factory Brake Controller Pigtail on 2005 Dodge Ram
We have never come across this 15 amp maximum. Take a look to see how that 12V feed is fused. I would consult the owners manual to find the location of the fuses that manage the towing circuits on your truck. They are usually located under the hood. Usually the 12v power feed for the brake controller has a 20 amp fuse for a 2 axle application. If you are concerned about it, you can always run a separate hot lead via a 20 amp circuit breaker like part # 9506 to the battery. For a two axle...

  • Is a 20 Amp Circuit Breaker Needed for a 20' Cargo Trailer?

That will depend on the amount of brake axles your trailer has. . The 20 amp breaker like # 9506P is for 1 and 2 axle brakes, and the 30 amp like part # 38630 is for 3 and 4 axle brakes

  • Running 12V Wire To Rear Of Vehicle To Power Digital Sign
Since you said you are pulling 2.2 amps using a 12V system for your digital advertising sign on the back of your vehicle, you should not have any issues with the wiring on your truck or Suv. With the power draw you said you need it sounds like you may be using LED lights which draw considerably less power than incandescent lights. Depending on the wiring for the sign you will need to get the power from the battery back to the sign. You can use a 7-way harness on the back of your vehicle...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Controller with No Signal on Black 12V Power Wire
Typically for brake controllers, the black wire provides 12V power from battery to the brake controller. Since you said there is no signal on the black wire going to the controller, this tells us that there is something wrong with the wire or circuit breaker and means the controller is not getting any power. If the controller has no power, then it cannot send a brake signal back to the trailer brakes. Since this wire comes directly from the battery, there should always be signal on the...

  • Wiring The Blue wire on 4-pole to 5-pole Adapter
The blue wire on the Trailer Wiring Adapter 4-pole to 5-pole is normally used for boat trailer connections where the trailer surge brakes need to be locked out. The blue wire is connected to the vehicles backup light circuit so that when the vehicle is shifted into reverse the surge brake coupler will not activate the trailer brakes when backing up. This adapter, blue wire included, is meant to be connected at all times when towing the trailer. The blue wire could be connected to another...

  • Is a Cover Necessary to Protect Circuit Breakers Once Installed on a 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser
The circuit breakers do not need to be covered, as they should be mounted in an unobtrusive area under the hood of your 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser, typically on the back wall below the windshield, or inside the driver side fender, near the vehicle battery. No snap on cover is available. If you choose, you could probably put some cap nuts on the exposed posts on the circuit breakers, but if there does seem to be some risk that the posts on the breakers would come into contact with anything,...

Brake controllers are not vehicle specific items so there are not diagrams available for individual vehicles. We do have a help page on installing brake controllers that will walk you through the process, but I will briefly run through the process to give you an idea of what has to be done. Most brake controllers have 4-Wires, typically they are: blue, black, red and white. The white wire is a ground, so it needs to be connected to any solid ground point. The red wire is the stop light...

  • Plugged In Electric Fireplace And Lost Power To Two Axle Wildwood Trailer
It sounds to me like you may have overloaded your trailer's circuit by plugging those two heaters in at the same time. What I recommend you do is install a 30 amp circuit breaker like # PK54230. This will protect your trailer's electrical circuits from situations like that happening again. A couple good "rule of thumb" suggestions is to plug appliances directly into outlets, not extensions cords. Extension cords add receptacles to plug into but do not change the amount of power being received...

You'll actually need a 20amp circuit breaker like # 9506P between the battery and the switch for your Lippert High-Speed Power Stabilizer Jack # LC298707. The 6amp circuit breaker you referenced goes between the switch and the motor. I've attached a wiring diagram below that shows just how this should wired up. • Recommended Circuit Breaker to Use In-Line with Battery Isolation Solenoid for Switched Lights
The Battery Isolation Solenoid # PK5231201 is not circuit breaker protected so the power running in and out of it will be different for each vehicle. I recommend using a circuit breaker like the In-Line Circuit Breaker - 20 Amp - Perpendicular Mount Bracket # 9506P to protect your switch and light. This has an automatic reset when over-current is removed and cycles continuously during over-current condition to protect your accessories.

I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha about your 1999 Dodge van and the Tekonsha Prodigy Brake controller. The # 90885 comes with a splice-in harness that connects to the wiring under your dash. If you are using a 40 amp breaker you will definitely want to use 10 gauge wire. We also recommend using 10 gauge for ground wires on 7-Way connectors. That is how we wire them in house and most of the 7-Way connectors are molded for 10 gauge wire in the ground pin.

Most wiring harnesses come with inline fuses integrated with them but if not, you can use the circuit breakers above.
