After ordering and receiving this item I didn't like the primitive look, function, and exposed fit. Also, my opinion: It should not be available without a terminal cover. I instead went with waterproof 30amp blade fuse holders (see picture, as installed in a 2021 Subaru Outback Onyx XT). In addition to the clean, professional look, I can easily remove the fuses to disconnect power when necessary.

by:

Perfect fit for my application. Curt brake controller, extra sheathed wire, breaker and pigtail! Etrailer videos are a great help for any dyi buyer.

by:

Ended up not needing this. But keeping it with the spare trailer stuff. Easy to change and I’ve learned you’ll never know when you’ll need one.

by:

It's always a pleasure doing business with etrailer. Prompt service, shipping and products. Not to mention their wonderful -How to videos-!

Love this company!

by:

Great service, and research given with the representative to order the correct parts needed. I am a returning customer for this reason and will again in the future.

by:

Product as described. Battery to the copper terminal and source on silver terminal.

by:

Needed to replace one on my camper. etrailer.com had it and got it right out to me.

by:

Got the exact part I needed and the additional information you sent should eliminate any additional questions or problems.

by:

Very quality device, easy to install and small but not 'too small'!

When I need trailer things this is where I go. Thanks for the fast ship.

by:

Product was an excellent purchase that has worked out beyond my expectations.

by:

Works great but would have liked them to come with covers.

by:

Thank goodness someone still stocks really old parts for doing refurbs on our antique RVs!!!

by:

Still works, simple device...

  • Troubleshooting Curt Echo Wireless C51180 Having No Lights When Installed On 2020 Toyota Highlander
For the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 to work it needs the 12v power circuit of the 7-way connector to be active. Do you happen to know if the Mechanic ran a power wire from the 7-way connector to the battery of your 2020 Toyota Highlander? If he did not then the 12v power circuit will not be active as it is not part of the factory 4-way connector. You would need to use # 10-1-1 to go from the 7-way to the positive terminal of your vehicle's battery with a 30 amp...

  • Plugged In Electric Fireplace And Lost Power To Two Axle Wildwood Trailer
It sounds to me like you may have overloaded your trailer's circuit by plugging those two heaters in at the same time. What I recommend you do is install a 30 amp circuit breaker like # PK54230. This will protect your trailer's electrical circuits from situations like that happening again. A couple good "rule of thumb" suggestions is to plug appliances directly into outlets, not extensions cords. Extension cords add receptacles to plug into but do not change the amount of power being received...

  • Recommended Trailer Brake Controller For towing 18' Car Trailer With 1963 Pontiac Station Wagon
I recommended the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR you were looking at as it can be installed in any vehicle with a 7-way connector, and with only the knob visible it won't take away or look out of place in your 1963 Pontiac Station Wagon. To install the # RED44FR you will need to have a 7-way connector installed. If you do not have one we offer the # ETBC7 which is a universal kit. The wiring harness of the # RED44FR will need to be wired as follows: Black wire...

  • Curt Echo Not Getting Power From Factory 7 Way On A 2015 Mercedes GLK250
Yes, it is possible that even though there is a factory 7 way it may not have the power wire connected on your 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK250. This is common on some vehicles. You are correct that a 12 gauge power wire and circuit breaker is going to have to be ran from the battery to the 7 pole plug in order for the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Proportional Item # C51180 to work correctly. I recommend the Circuit Breaker - 30 Amp - Perpendicular Mount Bracket...

  • How to Wire a Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller # 39510 in 2005 Ford F-150
The easiest way to install a Tekonsha trailer brake controller like the Voyager # 39510 in your 2005 Ford F-150 that has a factory 7-way is to use wiring adapter # 3035-P. This plugs in between the controller and the under-dash port as shown in the linked installation video at the 20-second mark. No cutting or splicing of wires is required. If you are doing a hard-wired installation the four wires from the Voyager will connect to the truck wiring as follows: Controller Black wire (12V...

  • Recommended Wire And Circuit Breaker For 12V Pin On Trailer 7-Way Connector
For your 12V wiring to your 7-way, we have people running many different things off that 12V wire. 12 gauge or even better 10 gauge ensures that the power is transferred timely and accurately. We have a kit for brake controllers and 12V wiring for the 7-ways # 5506 that we've used for years. It uses 10 gauge wire and has a 20 amp, 30 amp and 40 amp circuit breaker. Normally the 30 amp # PK54230 or the 40 amp # 9510 is what we recommend with the 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 for your application.

When hardwiring a trailer brake controller like the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 either a 20-amp or 30-amp circuit breaker will provide operating power for the controller itself. The choice depends on whether the trailer has one braked axle (use the 20-amp value # PK54520) or if it has two or three braked axles (use a 30-amp breaker # PK54230). The breaker should be mounted on the firewall, reasonably close to the battery positive terminal. The copper-colored terminal on the breaker connects...

You will need to hardwire in the brake controller. If your van came with a factory 7-Way trailer connector the blue output brake wire already ran from the back to the front. • How to Protect Circuit Breakers and Electrical Connections on a Trailer
I strongly recommend protecting any circuit breakers, including the Pollak 30-Amp Auto Reset Circuit Breaker, # PK54230, from the elements. Corrosion and road grime can build up on the terminals and cause problems. We typically use junction boxes, like part # PK52249, to protect electrical contacts on a trailer. These boxes have rubber grommets in the access holes for wires to keep water and dirt out. They can bolt to any surface strong enough to hold a plastic box.
