Use of the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 without Removing the 7-Way Plug
Question:
Hello, I have a 96 GMC Sierra 1500 2wd that has a brake controller installed already. Is it possible to replace the controller without replacing the plug at the rear of the vehicle? I was looking at the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional to replace mine.

Absolutely! You can install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles # 90885 without ever having to remove the 7-way plug already installed on your 1996 GMC Sierra 1500. The # 90885 comes with a splice-in harness that connects to the wiring under your dash.
Since there is not a plug-and-play customized harness that is compatible with your truck, it is important to note that you need the 20-Amp circuit breaker # 9506P for 2- to 4-brake applications or the 30-Amp circuit breaker # 38630 for 6- to 8-brake applications on your trailer.
I went ahead and attached some helpful videos that highlight these parts for your convenience.
