Replacement Shank for Weight Distribution System to Allow for Fitting 2 inch Hitch

Im buying a trailer that has a weight distribution hitch for a 2.5inch receiver. My vehicle has a 2inch receiver. Is there a 2inch to 2.5inch adapter or is it best to jest replace the shank?

You'd want to go with a 2 inch shank. Anytime you try to go from a larger hitch accessory to a smaller hitch you have to use an adapter that cuts capacity of the hitch so switching shanks would be what you would want.
The shank part # C17123 is a 2 inch shank with 10 holes of adjustability so that you can tow your trailer level.
The great thing about the weight distribution shanks is that the manufacturers all decided to make them the same dimensions so they all work on each others systems.
