Today we're going to review HE-4036. This is the Heininger HitchMate Boat Trailer Step with a 400 pound weight capacity. I have assembled it to give you an idea of how this would look when it's installed on your trailer. There's no more trying to balance on your narrow trailer frame beams to get at your boat. This unique step right here will make it easy to prep your boat for trailering. The bracket, as you can see, will mount directly to your trailer tongue or frame.
It clamps around the frame with the included hardware, and it will adjust, as you can see the different holes there to fit different size beams. On the very top of the step it has a nice non-skid step surface. It's made of a durable steel construction. Has a nice black powder coat finish to help resist rust. Again, the application on this is for up to 3" x 5" trailer frame or tongue. The weight capacity on this step is 400 pounds.
The step dimensions, just to give you an idea here; the length of it is going to be right at 9". I'm going to swing this around and we'll give you the width of it; the width is going to be right at 5". Like I said, I've assembled it with the mounting hardware and the bracket. You can see how it would go around your trailer frame, the beam on it. Then you can use this step to stand up on to access to your boat. That should do it for the review on Part Number HE-4036. This is a very well made product. The craftsmanship shows. I ordered them during the Christmas rush and am surprised how promptly they arrived. Due to hip replacement I can no longer climb over the bow of my boat. This will give me a stable means of walking the tongue of the trailer to retrieve it. Can't wait for the snow to back off to give them a try..

My only complaint is that the bolts that come with this unit are at least 1” too long. Could use somewhat shorter bolts for this product. Great unit and it’s solid.

Good product. It makes getting into and out of my bass boat much easier when launching/loading on the trailer. Pros: Very sturdy, reasonably easy to install, looks good, prompt delivery. Cons: Adhesive holding non-skid to step is weak, step is a bit narrow (I will probably put another alongside it.) Would recommend.

The bolt on step was delivered the day after I ordered it. It is a very sturdy unit and would likely handle more than the 400 pounds it is rated for. I did have to add some washers to each bolt as the bolts were about 1/4 " longer than the trailer channel.

Ever step on your trailer to get something out of the bow of your boat and find that it is an inch out ofyour reach..? Then having to climb into boat to get it..? Frustrating. This trailer step add on takes care of this problem easily. Excellent product, made well. No skid surface is an added bonus, no slipping with wet foot wear.

This product does exactly what it's supposed to. Also it's easy to install, should fit a variety of trailer frame sizes, has solid hardware and is built VERY strongly. It's made climbing onto the front of my jonboat with a bad leg safe and easy and has enough room on it for both feet if necessary.

Product is very strong and easy to install. It should improve safety during launch and retrieval of the boat. Smaller dimension works well for boat trailers with shorter tongues.
