1-Year Worry-Free Guarantee

This tire has a 1-year worry-free guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way, it will be replaced at no charge.

Karrier S-Trail Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Kenda Karrier S-Trail Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade, computer-generated tread on these Karrier S-Trail radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Karrier S-Trail tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Karrier S-Trail radials are constructed with double steel belts and full nylon plies for increased durability and endurance. The premium rubber compound materials of this tire help disperse heat.

Beveled Stud Holes

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The stud holes on this steel wheel are beveled to ensure that the wheel stays tight against your trailer hub. This also eliminates the need to constantly retorque the lug nuts.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Tire is fine but rim looks like a unsupervised 2 year old got hold of a spray can and painted it. The galvanizing has awful runs. I know this is isn't the most expensive tire/wheel but does anyone take any pride anymore?

Unfortunately, this is very common for these galvanized rims. They are dipped into molten zinc and are drip dried. This will sometimes cause bubbles and or rough marks on the rims, you can sand it down to make it smooth.

by:

My wife & I are leaving fo our Western NY Home traveling on Rte 75. Driving at 70 mph, so these radial 12", 8 ply trailer tires should hold up for this 13 hr drive. I'm always worried towing and 12" wheels heat up at high speeds. Really glad you had these tires & wheels in stock & able to ship them in a couple days. I had 4 year old bias ply C rated tires on my trailer but I didn't trust them for the speed & distance I'd be traveling.

by:

The tires seem fine however the galvanized wheels look like absolute garbage to be quite honest. On the website the finish looks great. What I received looks like crap. There is a coating of something all over both sides of the wheels that will not come off. The wheels look used.I don't understand how anyone would have thought it was OK to mount the tires on these wheels and actually send them out to a customer. I am sure more than one person had to see these before they were shipped out.

Honestly this does happen with the galvanized rims. They are dipped into molten zinc and are drip dried. This causes bubbles and or a rough finish on the rims. I can see that these are pretty rough. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you.

by:

Ordered 2 wheel/tires and could not have been more pleased. Package arrived on time and as desribed. This will make our trip nice and easy this year.

by:

These tires cost more but these tires are 8 ply load range D radial tire which have a higher rating on the weight capacity with a updated tread design. The galvanized wheels are a must for any boat trailer being put into salt water and fresh water in the area of the world I live in. Time will tell but the set up looks as it will hold up to years of repeated use. The tire & rim set up balanced easily on my old style bubble balancer I use in my shop. You get what you pay for...

I'm glad to see I have an option to garbage bias ply 4.80x12 trailer tires. I've tried a lot of them over the years and always the same result, poor quality, ride, and terrible tread life. My last set of bias plys on a 2 ski pwc trailer were already down to the wear bars in a year and maybe 1000-1200 miles.
Ordered these galvanized wheels and kenda radials and as always etrailer got them here very fast and well packed. Took them to my local tire guy and he balanced them. Didn't take much weight and watching them spin showed a straight rim and tire. Installed them and was shocked the first trip to the river. Zero vibration from the trailer! Bias plies seem to bounce and transfer it to my truck through the hitch. These tires are smooth, no trailer bounce, pull great, and I don't see my yamahas vibrating in the rear view mirror.
Fast forward a few months till now. I probably have 5-600 miles on them. Still perfect, zero air loss, zero tread wear noted. I will buy these from now on based on what I'm seeing so far.

by:

I ordered and received a spare tire and rim. It fit just fine and was at a good price. The order came in just a few days. I am happy with this purchase.

The wheel and tire is fine. I have not needed to use them yet. It is a good thing not to have any flats.

by:

The UPS shipping was a nightmare but I can’t fault anyone but UPS and their computerized system where you can’t talk to a human being for that . I’m very pleased with the looks of the wheels and tires .Time will tell how they hold up .

by:

Received my order on the date they said it would arrive. Well packaged. Ordered these wheels with tires for a boat trailer and it appears to be exactly what I expected. Would recommend this company based on this experience and past experiences.

by:

The new trailer tires arrived well packaged and ready to install. I am completely satisfied with the upgrade from my old bias ply tires.

by:

Overall nice for the price. I wanted to upgrade to radial tires after a blowout an the freeway with bias tires.

New Wheels, Tires and wheel bolts.

Tires look nice. Low quality galvanized coating on the rims, but typical for Chinese product.

by:

I haven't yet taken the boat back to the lake, but being in the mountains with switchback turns, the bias ply Harbor Freight tires just weren't cutting it. I blew obe out on the last trip! I expect these Kenda radials and galvanized rims to last a good while. etrailer is great to work with, and when I noticed a lower price, they gladly matched it. I will continue to buy from etrailer, and Robert was very helpful!

by:

Installed these on my Load Rite K1000-2T. They fit perfectly and there's no need to adjust the fenders. I do alot of long distance highway driving when I go fishing. I think they'll work out much better than the stock 4.80-12 bias plys.

by:

Ordered Monday, received Tuesday, that’s what I call service!!!! Awesome tire and wheel combo!!!

by:

Wheel/Tires nice upgrade from originals, looks great. They arrived quickly. Would order from etrailer.com anytime.

by:

Easy ordering process. Tires showed up looking nice. Easy smooth process. Recommend.

by:

tires holding up well, after 1 year. haven't used trailer as many miles as in past. using higher load rated tires now, lower rating were failing faster.easier than buying just tires & having them mounted. great value through etrailer.fast shipping, not my first purchase.

by:

These are the best choice for my pwc trailer. Superior to the boss ply the trailer came stock with. These tire are made to go long distance and are a smooth ride. I have bought and installed the on all three of my pwc trailers.

by:

I ordered a set of Kenda Karrier 145/R12 tires to replace the cheap 4.80/12 tires that came with my Carry-On utility trailer. I didn’t realize that the galvanized wheel was a cheaper option than what I had originally wanted to order, and luckily etrailer’s customer service e helped me choose the right tire. The finish of the wheel is excellent and the tires are properly inflated. The packaging was great, no chance of damage. I have always had outstanding customer service with etrailer and I can’t recommend them enough. Additionally, I usually run Kenda Karriers on my trailers and I have never had an issue. Definitely recommend these if you do any sort of highway or long distance traveling with your trailer or boat, just for the safety and peace of mind.

by:

Fantastic price, great selection, and free shipping to boot. I needed new tires for a long ATV trip and wanted a spare tire as well (I know, I know, but I usually only trailer locally). I ordered these radial tires and rims pre-mounted which allowed me to use one of the old wheels as my spare. Everything performed flawlessly over about 600 miles and even held their torque specs when I checked them during and after the trip. The spare tire carrier compliments the galvanized trailer frame and rims and looks like it will hold up to the elements of the North East. All in all, I highly recommend these products and etrailer.

by:

I received galvanized wheels and tires as an upgrade for a very old boat trailer. The new larger radial tires on 12” rims are a great upgrade from the old non-radial tires on 8” rims. Tows smooth and easy on the highway with noticeably less trailer bang & hop on rougher roads at slower speeds. Super easy, super fast delivery. Awesome, thank you.

by:

Definitely an upgrade in tire and wheel from original equipment and previous replacements. Put on utility trailer that hauls atv for hunting 130 miles each way at interstate speeds and includes off road hauling too. Included pics of old wheel/tire next to newly mounted tires from etrailer.

by:

The wheels don't look like the picture. All edges on the wheel are crude, rough and will cut you. The wheel appears to be covered with rust, weld spatter and contaminants. The galvanized finish looks horrible because the surface was not properly prepared. The galvanized finish has a lot of runs and is sloppy. I don't expect the galvanized finish to last very long. The wheels appear to be quality control rejects. I'm surprised they let them leave the factory. Unfortunately the customer has to pay shipping to return. Etrailer does not stand behind their products. etrailer considers this poor quality to be "cosmetic" and will not pay for return shipping. Customer service claims that all galvanized finishes look like this which is absolutely no true. Buyer Beware. etrailer has lost a customer. Never again.

Yeah, I have seen this happen with the galvanized wheels. It should definitely not be sharp enough to cut you. Would you be able to send a picture? I would like to take a look at it.

by:

I placed my order for 2 mounted radial Kenda trailer tires at 2:30 Thursday and recieved them Sat around 230. Great product and service. I plan to replace my old bias boat trailer tires.

by:

good product. I wish they had the load range E in the cheaper galvanized rim but they only carry it in the much more expensive aluminum rim. Load range D will have to do.

For a radial load range D, 12 inch tire and wheel with an 81 mph speed rating to replace your 5.30R12, the Kenda ST145/R12 are the perfect option, as these are only going to be about 3/8" wider but about 5/16" shorter in diameter, so the clearances are going to be essentially the same. The option for this we offer is a tire and wheel combo: - Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ 12" Galvanized Spoke Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2" Bolt Pattern # AM31202 If you aren't sure what bolt pattern...

  • Will Kenda ST145R12 Radial Trailer Tire Replace a 5.30x12 Trailer Tire
First, we do have 5.30x12 tire and wheel combos with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern available. For a load range D it would be # AM30859. This tire and wheel combo is rated for 1,250 pounds at 105 psi. It includes a white steel wheel. The Kenda S-Trail ST145R12 Radial Trailer Tire, # AM31202, with galvanized spoke wheel is only 0.1 inches wider and 0.6 inches shorter so it will most likely fit. It is rated for 1,220 pounds at 65 psi. I have included links to tire and wheel FAQ articles for you.

These two sizes are very similar with only a difference in height of .6 of an inch and width .1 of an inch.

All of the 4.8-12 tires are bias ply tires, but the S-Trail is a radial tire. Radial tires have more flex which gives it better ground contact, traction, stability and tread wear.
