Bolster-and-swivel-bracket assemblies are typically mounted upright on a boat trailer's crossmembers. They allow a mounted bunk board, which runs from the front of the trailer to the back, to tilt to accommodate and support boat hulls of different sizes. On kayak trailers, these brackets are mounted to the trailer's frame and support bunk boards that run across the trailer.

Galvanized Steel

Steel parts are galvanized by being hot-dipped in zinc after they have been stamped. This creates a coating that is typically 3 mil to 5 mil thick. This thick, all-around coating allows galvanized steel products to provide years of use without rusting or corroding.

Good brackets, well built, thick metal with excellent galvanized coating on them. A quality product and installation is straight forward. Thumbs up!

by:

So far so good. The brackets are working fine so far. Haven't put the trailer on the road yet, but the boat requires bunkers to have a curve or bow in them. The middle brackets stand the torsion as well as the weight of the boat. Easy to install as well.

Still working great. Stays put, no slipping

by:

I got these bolsters to convert an old jet ski trailer frame to carry my large fishing kayak. They worked great. CE Smith is a great brand name for trailer parts. eTrailer shipped quickly although USPS tracking sure wasn’t up to par. eTrailer is dependable and has great support with videos and info.

by:

First off, I want to say that the products that I ordered from etrailer.com were of high quality and were easy to install, and lets not forget about the fast shipping and my favorite - the personal touch added to the email communications where each one is signed by a human (rather than something generic).

My project itself entailed replacing the two (original) vertical mount 4' bunks on my boat trailer (see the attached pictures). These were set-up to hold a 15' sailboat. I recently purchased a 12' (plastic) jon boat, and I felt that the jon boat needed better support on the trailer so that it didn't warp or dent.

After doing a lot of research, I decided to go with two horizontal mount 6' bunks. They were pre-finished at a cost less than if I were to purchase the individual components (wood, glue, carpet, staples, etc.) and do the assembly work myself. Attaching the hardware and mounting them to the trailer was a snap - see the attached pictures for the finished setup.

by:

I took a fishing trip to Quebec Canada and had to travel 115 kilometers on a dirt rd resulting 5 of my original bunk brackets cracking. The lodge personnel welded them so we could get home. Replaced them with your brackets that are a lot stronger and easy to install. Looking forward to next trip

by:

Great product with exact measurements. Thank you to everyone involved with this shipment.

by:

Parts worked great, made rebuilding my boat trailer a breeze.

by:

I took my existing utility trailer that I bought at the local supply store and converted it to a boat trailer for my new RIB for a couple hundred dollars. It saved me well over a thousand dollars and works great.

by:

These are actually for wood bunks, not the roller bunks which I bought. Had to drill another centered hole in top. Not hard though.

by:

Bunk brackets mated perfectly to the trailer frame, wide range of adjustments both height wise and angle of the bunks.

by:

Great parts and service as usual. Thanks Lori !
Parts arrived a day early and I got it done in short order. The boat is much happier on its new support and bunk parts...

by:

I'm not a trailer person but I found "etrailer's" website informative enough to know what I needed. I also had the benefit of an etrailer staff member who knew his products and thus able to make sure I bought the correct pieces. The plus was when the items arrived much sooner than the shipping time they quoted. I have not yet installed the items but hope to do it this week. Excellent source to buy quality trailer parts.

Fine - everything still in one piece

by:

Everything is great (5-star). However, I must return the roller bracket for a refund, as the mounting holes do not match up with my trailer.

These brackets worked perfectly to help me convert my boat trailer to a roller bed system allowing for much easier launching of my boat.

I couldn’t be any happier about these roller tracks.

by:

Prompt delivery, easy installation, worked out great. Thank you.

by:

this has happened again. I can't rate a product that should last years the minute it gets in my hand. The pieces LOOK good. The shipping was timely and the price was fair none of which tells me or you how good the product IS. Get back after two years of dunking in fresh and salt water and I'll give an honest review.

Bill

so far so good. After a year of dunking in fresh and salt water there is no sign of rust and no cracks in the material. Im pleased and a little surprised they held up so far given the poor quality of a lot of galvanized pieces nowadays. If they hold up this good after two years they have my wholehearted endorsement, for what thats worth.

by:

In my opinion The holes in the brackets that attach to the bunk boards are, when bracket is centered on the boards, approximately 3/8” from the edge of the board. Whether lag screw or bolting leaves very little room for strength.
Further, there was no bolts or lag screws provided.
Otherwise a nice product.

by:

I'm gathering parts for a complete boat trailer redo. Most of my parts are coming from etrailer.com. They have what I need, the price is right, the site is easy to shop and they ship promptly. Oh, and as I recently found out, customer service is quick to straighten things out when something is not right.

by:

The swivel brackets were exactly as described, and etrailer upgraded my shipping for free. I had them in 4 business days instead of the 5-7 I paid for.
One suggestion for etrailer for these particular items:
You should include 2 sets of bolt, nut and washer for each of the bracket kits, as well as a washer for the nut and bolt that was included for the swivel piece. It is a bit annoying to have to run to the hardware store for a bag of hardware to mount this on my trailer.
I also screwed the brackets on to the bunk boards with lag bolts, but those are a personal preference.

by:

I installed them on my boat trailer about a year ago and they are still looking good. I use the trailer mostly in saltwater so I’m happy that they are holding up well.

by:

The Bolster Brackets are exactly what I ordered. However, they are galvanized products and come w/zinc plated hardware. This creates a situation where the hardware will rust (& freeze) far before the brackets do as any boater would understand. This renders adjustments to your trailer and/or the replacement of parts a difficult task. Solution: offer the brackets w/galvanized hardware or at least offer the option in something other than "small print."

  • Recommended Heavy Duty Swivel Brackets for Boat Trailer with Wooden Bunks
We do offer various swivel brackets such as the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies part # CE10000G-4 which vary in height. These are 9" tall but also height adjustable and made of 11 gauge steel. They mount to the frame using u-bolts and then bolt to the underside of the bunk board. If these will not work for you, I have attached our entire selection below.

  • Bunk Bracket Recommendation for Converting Roller Bunk Trailer to Wood Bunk
You'd really need to base it off the hull design of the boat you plan to tow. I'd use swivel bunk brackets like the part # CE10000G-4 to mount the boards as these allow you to angle the boards to match the shape of your boat's hull. I attached a picture that shows how they typically install on a similar trailer.

  • Can the CE Smith Assemblies # CE10000G-4 be Submerged for Long Periods of Time
The CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies # CE10000G-4 do have a galvanized finish for superior rust resistance but they are meant to be installed on boat trailers and not really meant to stay submerged for extended periods of time. Although the finish will be better than a steel bracket without the finish, I am not sure how long they would resist rust like that. I am not quite sure how your whole lift system works I don't know if the 9" height is long enough for your application....

  • How Much Weight Can the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies Hold
The CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies part # CE10000G-4 do not have a specified weight capacity as it can vary by the strength of the u-bolts used in conjunctions with these brackets as well as how many brackets are used per board. I know this is frustrating to not have a specific weight capacity but unfortunately the manufacturer just does not provide this. I know we have called and asked several times in the past. Roller bunk brackets like the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Mounting Brackets for Bunk Boards # CE10000G-4 do not have listed capacities. • Can CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Brackets be Modified for Mounting Vertical Bunk Boards
Thank you for the kind words! I do not think there will be enough of the L bracket to properly support the boards because of the bolt head. You might be able to use alternate, lower profile hardware though obtained from a local auto parts store. The bracket is only 1-3/8 inches wide with the mounting holes centered putting them approximately 11/16 inches in from the edge on center. Subtract how far the bolt head sticks out and you are left with maybe 3/8 of an inch. Seems too close for...

  • Do CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies Have an Angle
The CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies # CE10000G-4 can be rotated to the side to accommodate different hull designs but they aren't meant to be tilted towards the front or back of the trailer. The first photo, which I believe you're referring to, looks like they are angled because of their orientation and the hardware still being a little loose. I spoke with my contact at CE Smith, and they said the Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assembly for Boat Trailers, part # CE10000G-4, do not bear the weight of the boat. The U-bolt that attaches the brackets to the trailer frame support the weight of the boat more than anything so these do not have a stated weight capacity. Your 4,000 lb boat would not be an issue for these brackets at all.

It sounds like you're looking for a set of bunk board brackets and if that's the case we have some great options for you such as the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies part # CE10000G-4.
