How Many Bolster And Swivel Brackets Are Needed For A Boat Trailer

Question:

I am interested in your bolster and swivel bunk brackets. I currently have a 21ft 3,500lb open bow speed boat. Will four brackets hold that size boat? All of the pictures Ive seen look like they are being used for PWC or aluminum fishing boats.

I spoke with my contact at CE Smith, and they said the Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assembly for Boat Trailers, like part # CE10000G, do not bear the weight of the boat. The U-bolt that attaches the brackets to the trailer frame support the weight of the boat. There should be a bracket attached to each cross member of the trailer frame. If you are buying several brackets, I would recommend part # CE10000G-4. This is a set of 4 of the 9 inch adjustable brackets.

If you need longer adjustable brackets for your trailer I would recommend part # CE10001G-4. This is a set of 4 of the 11 inch adjustable brackets. The single 11 inch brackets is part # CE10001G. For a 13 inch option, I would recommend part # CE10002G for the single bracket, or part # CE10002G-4, for the set of 4.
