Bunk Board and Brackets for Boat Trailer

Question:

Im needing to do some bunk work on my trailer. I have a bay boat that weighs approximately 2400lbs. Its sitting on a double-axle trailer and has 4 bunks, each made of a pair of 2x6s lag bolted together and making a bunk thats 5 1/2 x 3. They are sitting directly on 3 aluminum cross-members 3x3, and have a bracket on each side 24 bracket/uBolt combos necessary. My issue is this: I cant seem to find a L type bracket thats under 6. a 6 bracket will stick above my bunk. Current brackets are 4.5 tall, 5 wide. What would you recommend? Can I use a swivel bracket, or do you have a low-profile L style bracket? I can replace the bunks, carpet, all U bolts and brackets as well, and would appreciate any tips or suggestions you might have. Thanks for any help you can provide.

It is a little confusing to try and picture what your current setup looks like. My understanding is that you have bunk boards like the CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailers - 5' Long - 1 Pair # CE27820 you want to replace. It sounds like you have short brackets and we typically use the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies - Galvanized Steel - 9" - Qty 4 # CE10000G-4 or taller for the reasons you are stating with incompatibility of smaller brackets.

My question is are your brackets adjustable because our brackets have slots to let you adjust the height with the u-bolts. If you can't adjust them, then I recommend upgrading. I've attached the link to your options to assist.
