Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today we're gonna take a look at the CE Smith Light Duty Galvanized Steel Vertical Bunk Bracket. Typically mounted upright on a boat trailer's crossmembers, vertical bunk brackets allow you to mount a bunk board on its skinny side and run the board from the front of the trailer to the back, and on kayak trailers, these brackets are mounted to the trailer's frame and support bunk boards that run across the trailer. This light-duty, rust-resistant bracket will let you mount a bunk board on its side and enable the board to pivot during loading. This is ideal for two by four or two by six bunk boards on small craft trailers. Now, two brackets are required per bunk board, and additional brackets are sold separately. The dimpled and lanced design helps keep the bracket from sliding along your trailer frame, and the mounting slot permits as much as 4 3/8 inches of height adjustment during installation.
This bracket installs vertically on your boat's trailer frame with a U-bolt, and this is made in the USA of 11-gauge galvanized steel that will resist rust and corrosion. Galvanized steel parts are hot-dipped in zinc after being stamped, and this creates a coating that is typically three millimeters to five millimeters thick, and this thick, all-around coating allows galvanized steel products to provide years of use without rusting or corroding, so this is gonna be suitable for saltwater exposure. So you are gonna get one bracket, and the overall height of this bracket is sitting right at 7 1/2 inches tall, the inside width of this bracket is gonna be right at an inch and 3/4 wide, and this mounting slot I mentioned before, it was right at 4 3/8, just wanna confirm that with you, so we're sitting right at 4 3/8 inches long, and that's gonna be 7/16 of an inch wide, and then that bunk board mounting hole diameter is gonna be at 7/16 of an inch in diameter. I only received half of my order and the ones I recived had two left halves.See photo. Still waiting on my other pair of roller brackets.

Works just as it should
The product arrived in good shape with no bends in the metal. I did find some left over flashing probably from the casting process, but i can be filed down in seconds. I went with the cheapest $5 shipping and it took 7 days to reach my house. I thought that was about 2 days longer than it should have because UPS eventually transferred the shipment to USPS. Might have been fast with USPS only. I suppose the fact that I didn't get me boat trailer brackets quicker than I hoped is a first world problem. All in all, first time ordering from here and a good experience was had.
These boat trailer bunk brackets were just what I was looking for and at a price that was very reasonable. I will use etrailer again and recommend them to others.
Had to replace trailer bunk brackets and install new bunks. This bracket worked perfectly.
The brackets were fine, except for the fact that there was some "flash" of the galvanizing plating somewhat obstructing the holes. I was able to drive an extra 3/8" bolt through to solve the problem, but I would rather not have had to mess with the galvanizing coating.
I do wonder why they are designed for 1.75 inch thick bunks, rather than standard 1.5 inch lumber. I had to use a 1/4 inch shim in each bracket for the 1.5 inch thick plastic that I used. Hopefully they will outlast the wood it replaces, in addition to being slippery and a somewhat 'soft' plastic which will not require carpeting.
Just what I needed, fast shipping and good service. There was some flashing on the metal left over from the dip, but who cares. Anyone who would point that out after the effort you put in to replacing bunks, or rebuilding your trailer really needs to find a better hobby!

I used this to put bunks on my boat trailer. They work great. They have not bent nor rust. Great product.
The u boots and brackets were what I needed but the threads on the u bolts were too short. I had to use a spacer to make them work. Brackets were what I needed.
